Ecobee, a Toronto-based company with approximately 300 Canadian employees, offers a smart thermostat in a similar vein to competitors Nest and Honeywell. On November 1, 2021, it was announced that the company had been acquired by US-based Generac. Given their continuing strong Canadian presence, MiC believes Ecobee is still a worthwhile smart thermostat, as there are no other remotely Canadian options we’re aware of.
