Lululemon was founded by Chip Wilson in 1998 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Lululemon is a line of yoga-inspired, technical athletic apparel for both women and men. The company started as a design studio by day and a yoga studio by night. In 2000, it became a standalone store on West 4th Avenue in the Kitsilano neighbourhood of Vancouver.

The vision for the store was to create more than a store, the founders wanted it to be a community hub where people could gather to discuss aspects of healthy living and mindfulness. Today, this is still an important part of every lululemon store across the globe.
