MacAusland’s Woolen Mills is one of the oldest businesses on Prince Edward Island. The mills first started as a saw and grist mill in 1870. It converted to yarn production in 1902.

The business was started by Archibald MacAusland who the locals thought was crazy for wanting to start up a mill to weave blankets. However, he proved the locals wrong because the company is still going strong.

Today, the company is still owned by the MacAuslands family, now in the hands of the 4th generation. It is now the only mill to produce traditional blankets using 100% virgin wood in Atlantic Canada.
