Adam Silvertown

Pace Pharmacy is a group of independently-owned and operated specialty pharmacies located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Opening its first doors in the summer of 2010, Pace Pharmacy’s team quickly established itself as the premier compounding pharmacy in downtown Toronto. Today, Pace Pharmacy serves patients and prescribers all across Canada.

We differentiate ourselves by always going above and beyond for our patients. We have dedicated ourselves to providing our patients with the health freedom formula. That is the possibilities that come with customized specialty compounding. We have highly sophisticated pharmaceutical compounding laboratories dedicated to the art and science of compounding medication. This allows us to meet the unique medication needs of all our patients based on their prescription. We can make creams, ointments, capsules, lozenges, suppositories, eye drops, injections, tablets, powders, liquids, suspensions, sprays, and more!

Pace Pharmacy is unique compared to our competitors because we take the time to ensure our patients health is at the forefront of everything we do. We have standardized operating policies and procedures at all levels of our pharmacy to ensure the safety of both patients and our employees is put first.

We go the extra mile for our patients and each other. We take pride in doing our very best every day. We come together to help solve patient issues as a team.

We are always learning, innovating, and training to be the best. We are always open to new ideas to support each other, to learn, and to grow. Pace invests in our people to always be learning.

We actively care and connect with people for better health outcomes. We improve the lives of our patients through providing a better pharmacy experience. We feel like a family of caring employees and we extend that caring feeling to our patients.

We foster freedom, and we respect independence of people and thought. We take pride and accountability in our work; each of us contributing to positive outcomes for our patients. We treat people like people, in a place where all patients can feel accepted without judgement about themselves or their medical treatment choices.

Pace Pharmacy is home of the health freedom formula.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

A year or two ago from now would have been in the depths of the pandemic. I would tell myself that it does get better. Things will start to go back to a new normal soon.

I would also give myself a long list of supplies to stock up on to help navigate the various supply chain issues that plague us on a daily basis.

What problem does your business solve?

Pace Pharmacy

As a specialty compounding pharmacy, we help people solve medication problems. Whether it is a solution that would be needed on a day-to-day basis, or temporarily meeting people’s needs during drug shortages, we are able to help people get medication they need for their unique situation. We support patients and their prescribers by being a trusted resource. Not only do we help patients (humans and their pets), but we also help doctors, nurses, dentists, naturopathic doctors, surgeons, and even other pharmacists.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

As a pharmacist, I started my career working for one of the big box corporate chain drug stores. I was engaged and passionate about the profession of pharmacy and excited to share my years of education with patients to improve their health outcomes. One day, I was working away when a customer gave me an ear-full because I didn’t know where the flyer special of laundry detergent was located in the store. This is when I decided that there had to be a better way. I wanted to help patients, and I knew there were many patients who needed and would be appreciative of what I had to offer. I wanted to run a pharmacy where individual people’s unique health needs, as well as the profession, were truly prioritized and respected.

What is your magic sauce?

Pace Pharmacy is unique compared to our competitors because we take the time to ensure our patients health is at the forefront of everything we do. We have standardized operating policies and procedures at all levels of our pharmacy to ensure the safety of both patients and our employees is put first. While many competitors attempt to dabble in the art and science of compounding, we are fully invested and we don’t dabble. We are in it whole heartedly.

Many of our competitors often attempt to replicate what we do and how we do it. But they can not match our proven experience, steadfast dedication, and unwavering passion. Our customer service experience is top notch. And we deliver to customers across Canada.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

The vision for Pace Pharmacy is to continue to grow awareness about pharmacy compounding. We want to become the name and brand synonymous with pharmacy compounding, not only in Toronto, but across Ontario and eventually Canada.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

In addition to navigating a global pandemic as front line healthcare workers, there have been many regulatory changes in recent years. The desire to stay ahead of the curve so that we continue to be leaders in the compounding world regularly forces us to make changes. We are constantly investing in our people, our facilities, our service, and our quality assurance. The importance of constantly adapting to changing regulations and environment keeps us on our toes. We believe our customers recognize that we are true leaders in our industry, and that has helped our growth over the years. While growth is always seen as a positive thing, we recognize that we must take it in stride as that growth usually presents new challenges.
