Tell us about yourself?
I come from a large family that has always been working in the plastic industry for various clients, such as the automotive and fitness industries. The will to develop a smaller family-feel company that would allow me to combine my passion for travelling and creating cool products for waterfront homeowners? Now, that’s what really got me excited.
If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
Trust the process. Don’t overthink everything too much. 99 per cent of things you worry about never happen.
What problem does your business solve?
By providing our Candock systems, we solve a lot of problems. Our products require very little maintenance. They are by far the lightest on the market, are virtually indestructible, and are infinitely configurable. Put differently, they adapt to the changing needs of our clients over time.
What is the inspiration behind your business?
Ever since we started back in 1997, my inspiration was always to impress clients who trusted us to purchase our system. Trust me, it never gets old when a customer takes the time to write me an email about how they love their products after purchasing them 20 years ago!
What is your magic sauce?
I think that products aside, it has to do with the fact that we are easy to reach and talk to, yes, on the phone ;). We listen to our customer’s needs rather than trying to achieve the biggest sale possible. We stand behind our products and always try to surpass the customer’s expectations.
What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?
We want to maintain our sustainable growth and keep innovating toward renewable energy. The integration of greener and recycled materials has already started, but I think we can always do more.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
Transitioning from a Mom-&-Pop shop to a modern 4.0 business. Yeah, the digital shift is quite a splash (no pun intended). It is quite exciting but also really demanding and forces you to rethink your business inside-out. Thankfully, the demand for our products has never stopped increasing.
