The roots of Minute Maid go back to 1945 when the National Research Corporation of Boston, Massachusetts developed orange juice powder from real oranges. The company, which was first named Florida Food Corporations and later the Minute Maid Company, was purchased by the Coca-Cola Company in 1960.

In Canada, Minute Maid has been present since the 1950s when the company acquired Clinton Foods of Canada. Minute Maid Canada Inc. produces all of its frozen Minute Maid juices in Peterborough, Ontario. While orange juice concentrate is still a favourite, the company now manufactures a variety of flavours and products, including ready-to-drink juices, juice blends, and fortified juices.
