Founded in 2007, Athabasca University Press is a Canadian publisher of academic publications. They are a division of Athabasca University and were the first open access publisher of scholarly works in Canada. A publication is defined as β€˜open access’ when there are no barriers to accessing it – anyone can read, download, copy or print it. Athabasca University Press has programs for open access to both journals and monographs so that their readers can use them at no cost.

The press is a member of the Association of University Presses and the Book Publishers Association of Alberta. Athabasca University Press strives for excellence in their editorial work, design and marketing and are proud to be recipients of numerous book publishing awards.
