Pollen Sweaters was established in 1986 as Pollen and Company. It was a home-based business that made natural fiber knitwear and sold it at local craft fairs. However, when the company began making sweaters from Total Easy Care Wool and selling them in stores that specialise in clothing for fishermen and sailors, demand for the garments began to grow and Pollen Sweaters had to increase the production volumes.
Today Pollen Sweaters is a small enterprise and employs a dozen people who make the knitwear in the company’s facility in Lund, BC. Because the wool used by Pollen Sweaters has had the itchy barbs removed, the clothing is very comfortable and does not itch. It also means the garments can be machine-washed and dried.
