RV SnapPad is a proprietary RV accessory in a category which previously didn’t exist: Permanent Jack Pads.
Tell us about yourself?
Since a young age, my family and I have spent countless hours coming up with new business ideas around the kitchen table. Multiple family members are career entrepreneurs, so once I was old enough, I entered business school and began attempting small business ventures myself. Many years and businesses later, we believe we have found a winning idea.
If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
$1 retained is worth $4 earned (when considering variable costs like COGS). Focus heavily on efficiencies within the supply chain and advertise almost exclusively on channels to which views and conversions can be accurately attributed.
What problem does your business solve?
Permanent jack pads are like shoes for your RV. They remove the chore of placing, storing, and retrieving dirty jack pads every time an RV’er sets up and takes down. SnapPads also free up precious storage space while adding stability and protection to the RV levelling/stabilizing system.
What is the inspiration behind your business?
My father made a game-changing levelling product for the RV industry more than 30 years ago, which he was unable to benefit from due to unscrupulous partners. The patent expiring on the original idea revived our interest in the RV industry and, specifically, the levelling product segment.
What is your magic sauce?
The Permanent Jack Pad Category was invented by Origen RV Accessories Ltd. We felt our new product needed to be permanently installed to provide a benefit not yet seen in the RV industry. At first, we prototyped versions with magnets and adhesives but eventually landed on a design that mechanically attaches to the stabilizing system utilizing the weight of the RV to install. Installation takes seconds and lasts a lifetime. SnapPads are also environmentally friendly as they’re made from 100 per cent recycled rubber.
What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?
- Five plus per cent North America RV Market Penetration – Currently less than one per cent.
- Grow seven-figure top-line revenues to over eight figures within 36 months.
- Achieve 20 per cent EBITDA Margin within 24 months.
- Further solidify SnapPad as the product category incumbent through continued innovation.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
Manufacturing has been our biggest challenge for a plethora of reasons, ranging from material and labour shortages, inaccurate capacity predictions from contract suppliers and unintended/unpredictable shipping snafus. Our team has worked tirelessly to overcome these challenges in anticipation of the next phase of growth.
