Paradigm has been making loudspeakers since 1982 when the company was founded by Jerry VanderMarel and Scott Bagby. The duo wanted to build high-quality loudspeakers with a design based on science. They also wanted to build them locally and sell them at a reasonable price. To build their speakers, Jerry and Scott researched findings from the National Research Council of Canada’s audio study and spoke to university audio researchers.

Paradigm designs and manufactures its highest-end products in Canada. Low end product lines are made in China. While this company was US-owned for a while, it was bought back in 2019 and is now Canadian-owned once again.
