Advanced Analytics and Research Lab is a specialized analytics one-stop shop for technology and industry organizations. We provide analytics services and solutions to automate and bring the power of data science and AI to the day-to-day operations of our clients. We provide services that intersect data architecture, data science, analytics, and business operations and strategy. We work with a variety of industries, with a concentration on real estate, technology, manufacturing, and health care, but we do work with many other sectors, such as non-profits and wholesaling.

Tell us about yourself?

I did three degrees at Western University. HBA and MSc in Analytics from Ivey Business School and an Honors Specialization in Economics. I’m a generally curious person, and I love technology. After working in manufacturing research, finance, and professional services, I realized that there’s a big gap in the adoption of analytics and data technology in traditional sectors. So I started the firm in 2017, and it’s been a wild ride!

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Be quicker to adapt to external trends. There was a lot of factors that the CEO needs to account for, and it’s often hard to distinguish between trends and anomalies.

What problem does your business solve?

Advanced Analytics and Research Lab

The expertise gap between traditional businesses and technology executives to the supercharged fast pace growth in technology.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

It started in Toronto. I spoke to a number of executives in small to medium size businesses and realized that they often lacked even simple integration of data and analysis. With the explosion of data and analytics tools that are available cheaply, it was clear to me that there was a large enough gap to fulfill.

What is your magic sauce?

Our team is very unique, where we usually have three skill sets for each project/service. Data architecture, data science, and business strategy. We believe that for any data and intelligence projects to be successful, those skill sets all need to be involved. For the price of one analyst, we can provide an entire team of experts, pulling in different skill sets at different parts of the data science project life cycle.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

We have started expanding internationally, as well. We launched our real estate data science products, that are doing very well. Beyond that, we want to support companies in the AI space with data engineering, architecture, and validation-type services.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

COVID-19 was very difficult for us. The uncertainty from our client’s side, especially the manufacturing side, was very challenging to adapt to.
