Kawartha Dairy Company has been in business since 1937. It is a 100% Canadian and 100% family-owned company run by members of the same family today as in 1937. It is still headquartered in Bobcaygeon, Ontario where the founders Jack and Ila Crowe bought the company’s first, small dairy.

Initially, Kawartha was focused solely on dairy but in the mid-1950s Jack went back to school to learn about ice cream making. In the early 1960s, Kawartha expanded to Minden and opened a dairy bar and the popularity of Kawartha’s ice cream products continued to grow.

Today, the company operates 10 retail stores and serves a wide range of wholesale customers.
