Founded in 2020 by Courtney and Terrence Howell in Grates Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador, 7 Fathoms is a Canadian-owned and operated company specialising in seaweed-based skincare products. The inspiration behind the products emerged from Terrence’s battle with severe contact dermatitis, which ultimately led to the discovery of the healing properties of brown seaweed that could be sourced locally.
This experience motivated Courtney and Terrence to develop bioactive extracts from sustainably harvested Newfoundland seaweed, especially the species Laminaria Digitata and Fucus vesiculosus. The product line focuses on versatile skincare solutions suitable for the whole family.
In 2021, 7 Fathoms became a partner company of Bounce Health Innovation, and they joined PEI BioAlliance’s Emergence bioscience incubator in 2023.
