Tell us about yourself?

When I met my business partner Ricardo, our CTO, it was clear that the gamification platform he had created was ahead of our time back in 2010. So, I decided to jump on board, and we spun off Funifier from his Software Development studio – yeah, we know something about custom software and service delivery. Initially, gamification was a challenge to explain, and people could not understand to what extent it could influence them, their peers, customers, partners, etc.

Today, it is effortless to demonstrate the value to others. Gamification is not just about points, badges, leaderboards, scorecards, etc. This just scratches the surface, and those results never last long. Gamification is about creating meaningful, engaging experiences for the end-user. And that takes knowledge.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

If I could go back 2 years, I would say “invest in real estate.” 🙂

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

Over the next 5 years, we want to scale our sales efforts and double our YRR on a year-to-year basis. This might not sound aggressive enough to some, but to us, it’s sustainable.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

Everyone has overused the word Gamification. Thus, the biggest challenge we face even today is getting folks to understand what Gamification is and how they can benefit from it. We like to call this “end-user engagement.”
