Tell us about yourself?

My background and previous experiences have been crucial factors in my journey as an entrepreneur, particularly in the moving industry. Growing up in South America, I witnessed my family run their businesses and learned the importance of hard work, dedication, and creating a positive impact on people’s lives through service.

Fast forward to my arrival in Canada, I was met with a less-than-pleasant experience when I hired individuals off Kijiji to help me move my belongings, only for them to steal from me. This experience left me feeling frustrated and vulnerable, and I knew there had to be a better way to provide moving services. I then began my journey of founding CARGO CABBIE – a moving company that prioritizes trustworthiness, professionalism, and excellent customer service.

Aside from my personal experience, my passion for moving furniture dates back to my childhood. I remember being fascinated with the logistics of arranging and transporting furniture, and as I grew up, that passion only intensified. Looking back, it’s clear that my experiences and passion have merged, leading me to create a successful business that aims to revolutionize the moving industry.

Throughout my entrepreneurial journey, I’ve gained numerous experiences and skills that have contributed to the success of CARGO CABBIE. I’ve learned the importance of building a strong team, investing in top-notch equipment and technology, and always prioritizing the needs of our clients. These experiences have undoubtedly played a significant role in establishing CARGO CABBIE as an industry leader in the moving space.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

If I could go back in time, I would tell myself to be patient for the right things at the right time. Looking back, I realized that I spent a lot of energy rushing to achieve certain goals and not allowing things to happen naturally.

I would also advise myself to focus on building meaningful relationships. It took me a while to understand the importance of surrounding myself with people who I can learn from and inspire me to do better.

Finally, I would encourage myself to try new things even if it makes me uncomfortable. It’s a necessary part of personal growth. Stepping out of our comfort zone can lead to new opportunities and experiences that we would never have encountered.

My primary inspiration behind my business is undoubtedly my family. I come from a long line of entrepreneurs, and their hard work and determination have always motivated me to pursue my own venture. I saw the success they achieved through their tireless efforts, and I was constantly amazed by their ability to turn their vision into a reality.

Moreover, as I began my own entrepreneurial journey, I found inspiration in my peers who were excelling in their respective businesses. The drive and passion they exhibited were truly inspiring, and it pushed me to work harder and strive for excellence in my own business.

But I must say, the biggest inspiration comes from the customers and clients we serve. The positive feedback and testimonials we receive from them are the driving force behind our continuous efforts to provide exceptional service. Knowing that we are making a positive impact in their lives is truly fulfilling and motivates me to do even better.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

We’ve had to navigate through various challenges which have required us to adapt and evolve our approach to the business. Undoubtedly, the biggest challenge we’ve faced so far has been COVID-19.

The pandemic had a significant impact on our business, just like it has had on most of the industries. It forced us to re-evaluate our entire business model in order to survive and remain relevant in the market. We had to make tough decisions, such as restructuring our workforce and reshaping our marketing strategies to align with the new normal.

Another significant challenge we’ve faced is the scarcity of skilled labour. Despite the high unemployment rate, we’ve struggled to find suitable employees with the right skills to match our business demands. This shortage has made it challenging to scale up swiftly to meet demand.

Additionally, the real estate downturn, high-interest rates and economic instability have also presented challenges that we’ve had to overcome. We’ve had to be creative in coming up with novel ways to attract new customers and clients. Ensuring we stay at the top of Google searches and maintaining high customer satisfaction with five-star reviews has been critical in achieving this goal.

These challenges have made us better leaders and served as a reminder of the importance of resilience, agility, and adaptability in business.
