Tell us about yourself?
After quitting my position at a Canadian telecom giant, I started freelancing for a real estate agent in West Vancouver, focusing on a condo presale launch. My client base grew to dozens of high-performing Realtors®. As a freelancer, I handled all sorts of branding/web/print contracts for mining companies, retailers, engineering firms, educational institutions, and even some government contracts.
Real estate agents still comprised nearly half of my portfolio, and I saw a strong desire (and an opportunity) for something better.
If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
Better performance management. Hire fast, fire faster.
What problem does your business solve?
Platforms with good MLS® integration were limited to cookie-cutter designs, while unique websites from other agencies didn’t have a great platform for MLS data management.

What is the inspiration behind your business?
As a freelancer, I was inspired to develop a website platform with MLS® integration that allowed custom design and code to a very high degree.
Between 2009 to 2010, I developed the system on evenings and weekends. In 2011, I launched It was the perfect outlet that combined my broad skillset as a back-end developer plus front-end coder, plus graphic designer.
What is your magic sauce?
In-house, local, and capable staff! We talk about the real estate market movement, web and branding trends, and other local topics often. A team that understands the world of real estate (not just the technical side) makes a big difference in the final outcome.
Quality and finesse in our results are the true testaments of our team. Boutique is our philosophy of work, not just a tagline.
What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?
Become the top name for real estate agents who want tailored solutions that truly showcase their soul and voice on all mediums, and secure a much bigger share of the presale market with solid relationships with boutique builders and Realtor® teams.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
Performance management of diverse personalities and learning mechanisms. We had everything from outstanding performers to complete duds. We are learning more and leveraging outside consultant help to help us do better on all fronts.
