The Journal That Talks Back™ offers unlimited, accessible and affordable one-to-one coaching for young professionals.
Tell us about yourself?
I spent nine years as a Child and Youth Counsellor before joining forces with Kim Ades. We wanted to work to create an affordable and unlimited coaching model to help combat a lot of the mental wellness challenges that exist in our world today.
If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
Take more breaks! The more free time one has to think, the better their ideas will be, and they will also feel less stressed 🙂
What problem does your business solve?
Affordability and accessibility in mental wellness services…specifically coaching. We also work with corporations as a third-party coaching service to support their young professional populations to improve retention.
What is the inspiration behind your business?
Nearly 20 years of coaching executives, leaders, and entrepreneurs in our parent company, Frame of Mind Coaching™ and using journaling as a key modality to serve young professionals in an unlimited fashion.
What is your magic sauce?
Journaling is our magic sauce. All of our clients journal as much as they would like, and their coach reads and responds to each journal within 24 hours. There are no appointments and no robots, just purely amazing coaching delivered in a super simple and unique package.
What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?
We want to grow organically and impact more and more people through coaching. This is through our direct work, as well as through our ‘Pay it Forward Fund’ from which we take $5 from each monthly subscription charge to put towards individuals who could not otherwise afford support through The Journal That Talks Back™.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
We have been following the course we have laid out since the beginning, but organic growth has challenges. It takes time to build trust in corporations to bring us in to work with their people.
How can people get involved?
We would love for individuals to check out www.thejournalthattalksback.com to book a call with us. We will match you with one of our amazing coaches or help you to find another resource that may be a better fit if needed. Finding the right care is difficult, and whether we are it or not, we want to make sure you get the mental wellness support you need. If you have any questions, please feel free to call 416-275-8035 or email me at jonathan@thejournalthattalksback.com.
