Adaptt Apparel was born out of our struggle to find stylish, high-quality clothing for family members facing cognitive and mobility challenges. Adaptt Apparel’s mission is to empower individuals of all abilities by providing stylish, functional, and inclusive clothing that enhances confidence, independence, and quality of life. The brand is committed to redefining fashion to be accessible for everyone, ensuring that no one has to sacrifice style or comfort due to physical limitations. Our core values include inclusivity, empathy, sustainability, and innovation.

Tell us about yourself?

I am the co-founder of Adaptt Apparel and have spent 21 years in a fulfilling career teaching special education. Currently, I am also the primary caregiver for my parents, who face Alzheimer’s and mobility challenges.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

I would remind myself that a “No” is often just a redirection, and in many cases, it serves as protection. Every rejection is an opportunity to pivot, refine, or discover a better path. Some of my best ideas have come from moments when things didn’t go as planned.

What problem does your business solve?

Adaptt Apparel tackles the challenges faced by individuals with mobility and cognitive issues by offering adaptive clothing that simplifies the dressing process. Our designs feature wide openings, full-length zippers with longer heads, and elastic waistbands to empower individuals to dress independently or to make caregiving easier and more dignified. We prioritize comfort with soft, breathable fabrics. Recognizing the limited stylish options often available to those with mobility issues, Adaptt combines functionality with fashion-forward designs, enabling wearers to express themselves confidently and avoid feelings of exclusion or dissatisfaction.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

My parents were my inspiration behind Adaptt Apparel. After a nurse recommended adaptive apparel for my father, we faced the challenge of finding stylish, high-quality clothing. That inspired Adaptt Apparel to create clothing that simplifies the dressing process and keeps the dignity of individuals with mobility issues intact.

What is your magic sauce?

At Adaptt Apparel, our innovative, patent-pending double-sided zipper sets us apart. We combine wide openings and full-length zippers with extended pull tabs for easy use. Our garments feature elastic waistbands and are made from soft, breathable fabrics that withstand industrial washing, ensuring both comfort and durability.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

Adaptt Apparel will become a global leader in Adaptive Fashion. Our adaptive clothing will be accessible in major international markets, both online and in physical stores.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

Adaptt’s greatest challenge has been designing clothing that balances functionality for individuals with diverse needs and a sense of style. Raising awareness about adaptive clothing adds another layer of difficulty, as it is still underrepresented in media and retail spaces. Educating the market on its importance and benefits requires time and effort.
