Innergy Corporate Yoga helps busy employees who sit at desks all day to de-stress and be more productive while also helping companies to boost morale, lower staff turnover, and save money on healthcare costs.
Tell us about yourself?
I’ve been the CEO and President of Innergy and a yoga teacher for over 18 years now. I also have a Bachelor of Journalism with an Honors degree. I got into teaching corporate yoga because I saw how transformational yoga was, and I wanted to share yoga’s benefits with busy professional Canadians to give them strategies and exercises they can use throughout their busy days.
If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
Hire more people and delegate tasks to them. I would spend more time with my family and make more time for my own yoga practice!
What problem does your business solve?
Innergy solves the problem of workplace stress. Chronic stress costs organizations a lot of time, money and frustration. Having a yoga program, either onsite or virtually, is a simple, effective, and low-cost way to support busy professionals in leading a healthy lifestyle and helping them to prioritize their health.
What is the inspiration behind your business?
I was inspired to start Innergy because many years ago while working for a news station, my boss was an alcoholic. I saw that not everyone knew how to manage their stress levels in a healthy way. When I left my career as a broadcast journalist and later discovered yoga, I saw how I could help thousands of people to be healthier and happier and help companies transform how they do business.
What is your magic sauce?
We are a full-service company. We go above and beyond for our clients every single day. We only work with the very best yoga teachers and fitness professionals, and our admin team has decades of experience in teaching yoga, admin, marketing, business and much more. We value our customers above all else.
What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?
Our team will be expanding and growing by at least 50 per cent over the next five years. We have big plans to bring the power of yoga to even more teams and organizations across Canada!
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
Covid-19 was definitely our biggest challenge so far. Still, when the pandemic hit, we pivoted quickly, offered our services virtually, and let our clients know that we had a variety of wellness solutions to meet their changing needs. Our sales have been up through the pandemic rather than down.
