TDG Marketing is a full-service marketing agency located in Southwestern Ontario. We are fully remote, with team members across Ontario. TDG Marketing, founded by Barry English, has been in business since January 2000. In 2023, I purchased TDG from my father, Barry, after a couple of years of acting as President. TDG offers services, including marketing strategy, graphic design, video production, drone photography and videography, social media management, email marketing, digital marketing, and more.
TDG Marketing lives by our values – for every decision we make, we look at our list of values to ensure it aligns. Our values are trust, innovation and creativity, care, communication, growth, and work/life balance. It is important to us that every team member feels valued and enjoys their career at TDG. We have a very strong culture, and although we are virtual, we plan many fun events both virtually and in person for our team.
Tell us about yourself?
My dad opened TDG Marketing when I was only six years old, so I was around it my whole life. When it was time to choose a career, I knew I wanted to follow in his footsteps. Barry started me at the very bottom of the company, which was a huge blessing. I learned every role and have a deeper respect and understanding for every person’s job now that I am leading the company.
In my personal life, I am a mom to a two-year-old girl. Our family loves all things Disney and travel, so you can always find me planning our next trip. I am a huge reader and also love to turn on some music and try out cooking a new recipe
If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
You will never FEEL ready, but that doesn’t mean you AREN’T ready. My buying TDG was a succession plan that we had been working on for years. When the time came, the only thing holding up the process was my confidence and feeling like I wasn’t ready. I’ve come to realize that owning a business is a huge job, and I don’t think I ever would have felt fully ready. But that doesn’t mean the business and I weren’t ready to take that leap. Sometimes, you have to fake the confidence, and the real confidence comes later.
What problem does your business solve?
TDG strives to give each of our clients the best marketing in their industry to help them grow their businesses. All of our services are just tools that we use to do that.
What is the inspiration behind your business?
Everyone at our company is so passionate about marketing. Every piece we do has so much effort, passion, and teamwork behind it. We want to help our clients succeed, and we are lucky to have the best clients that we get to learn from every day as well.
What is your magic sauce?
We truly have such talented people. The fact that we are full-service is a big plus for our clients. They don’t need to go to multiple agencies or companies to handle all of the aspects of their marketing, which allows it to be streamlined on their end since they need to coordinate with different parties.
I think another thing that really sets us up for success is how efficient we are. As a company, we have very strong processes and procedures, which may sound boring, but they allow our creative, talented people to do what they do best instead of clouding their brains with administrative things. We are always willing to invest in a good tool that makes us better or faster.
What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?
Since I took a leadership role in the company, Barry and I doubled the size of TDG Marketing. I would love to double the company again within five years, both through organic growth and acquisitions.
We always strive to do better for our clients, and the best compliment is when a client recommends us. If, in five years, we are profitable, doing great work, and employing talented people who get to enjoy our team-oriented culture, I think we are succeeding.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
Every day is a challenge, and every day is exciting. Obviously, like any business, the pandemic was a huge challenge for us. We used that to rethink how we do everything, starting with becoming a virtual company that does not have a physical office. This has allowed us to keep our expenses lower, as well as hire talented people from a wider geographic radius. What started as a big curveball turned out to be something that really pushed our business forward.
How can people get involved?
We are always looking for new clients who fit our values and strengths. Call 519-753-2240 or email mandy@tdgmarketing.com to set up your free one-hour consultation!
