Tell us about yourself?
I have been involved in the conferencing and collaboration industry long before COVID-19 made it an everyday business tool. I stumbled into the industry in the late 1990s with a background in audio/video production and computer science. It was the perfect hybrid of skills for the industry.
If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
React faster even if you think you’re reacting fast enough. The world changed quickly with COVID-19, and although we responded quickly, there are aspects that should have been handled even faster. It’s hard to see those in the moment, but looking back, I can see the things that were blind spots at the time that needed attention sooner.
What problem does your business solve?
Virtual events are easy…until they’re not… and then you call us! The use of services like Teams, Zoom, and WebEx has become mainstream in the business world today. The daily use of these platforms has turned everyday employees into video collaboration pros. These events start getting considerably more complex and unmanageable for the everyday user when you start integrating things like closed captioning, simultaneous translation into multiple languages, or ensuring uniform accessibility.
Resolve Collaboration provides the expertise to deliver these more complex events, which helps our clients focus on their content while we manage all the technology.
What is the inspiration behind your business?
We want our clients to experience a world where their digital event is stress-free because it’s easy to manage, reliable and on time every time. Their digital event is handled by people who care and understand, people who want you to succeed and go the extra mile to ensure it.
What is your magic sauce?
Process!
Ensuring that the right people on the right platform with the right production are all coordinated, trained, tested, and prepared for your event is the most important aspect of producing a professional and successful virtual event.
Resolve Collaboration considers its processes our most important asset! These are our step-by-step guides to describe how we get things in the best possible way. Our process system plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the entire team.
The Resolve Collaboration process is well-planned and strategic and helps us in many ways: reduced risk and expenditure, reduced human error, improved efficiency, improved customer focus, effective communication, improved time management, and the ability to rapidly adapt to new technology.
The Resolve Collaboration event production process is a collection of tasks, checklists, and project plans that find their end in the delivery of a perfect event to our clients. Our process involves clearly defined inputs that are made up of all the factors that contribute directly or indirectly to the overall event experience.
With our process, we ensure a uniform approach to how we set priorities, plan projects, the terminology we use, and the way we communicate with our clients. Essentially, our process is the operating system that puts everyone on the same page with clear deliverables and measurable performance results.
With our event process systemized, we can better troubleshoot when problems arise, get right to the heart of any issue quickly, and solve anomalies before they become an issue. The entire Resolve Collaboration team is trained and engaged in constant process refinement and tuning to ensure we are ready to respond no matter the circumstances.
What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?
Our plan is to continue to refine and perfect our service delivery. No doubt the world will continue to throw curve balls our way, and we’ll be ready to respond to them. We also have a keen eye on emerging AI technology, and we are looking at how these tools will affect our business both positively and negatively.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
Our biggest challenge was when the entire world went virtual! Pre-COVID-19, our business model was to work with existing in-person events to extend their reach to a broader audience online. When everything went virtual, the amount of work required to produce an event scaled exponentially. We had to rapidly respond to this increase as well as the increased volume of demand. Coming through the other side, we are a stronger, leaner company with a vastly improved set of tools at our disposal.
