Centaur Floor Machines was founded by Tony Lelkes who fled Hungary in 1956 when he was just 16 years old and immigrated to Canada. With a small bank loan, he began a machine repair shop, repairing machines while designing his first floor-cleaning machine. By the mid-1960s the first Centaur machine was ready for sale.

Today, Centaur is a trusted brand used by professional cleaners in Canada and the US.
