Neil Samson

We are a full-service design and renovation company. Monarch’s team of designers, tradespeople, and management are all professionals in their field. This allows you, the client, a near-seamless experience.

Tell us about yourself?

Our company has been in business for 42 years, and my wife and I have owned the company for 39 years now. My background is in drafting. I am a people person, and the kitchen business seemed to be a good fit for me.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Because our company has grown to the size it is, it would have been wise to hire a general manager at that point. We have one now, and things are running much smoother.

What problem does your business solve?

Putting together designs that work for the clients and implementing them.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

We saw a lack of skilled trades in our industry cutting corners. We are trying to offer our clients a complete service from start to finish.

What is your magic sauce?

We are not the cheapest, but we do what we say we’re going to do when we say we’re going to do it. We are very respectful of our clients’ homes and take all necessary precautions to keep the job site clean to lessen the stress on our clients.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

To continue building our business in the Golden Horseshoe. We would like to see a 35 to 40 per cent growth in volume over the next five years.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

Getting skilled bondable tradespeople who are prepared to work to our code of conduct while being respectful in our clients’ homes.

How can people get involved?

You can call us at 905-686-2001. One of our designers would be happy to chat with you, and you can also visit our website at mkbi.com.
