Tell us about yourself?
My family has owned flower shops for years, and I grew up around them since the age of six. I really enjoy marketing flowers and providing our customers with beautiful bouquets, so I combined that experience with my marketing and operations expertise to bootstrap the company to multi-million revenue.
If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
Two years ago, we were all experiencing a strange and troubling moment with a pandemic threatening the entire world and making us take a look at the general picture aside from the daily life ingredients that sometimes distract us from what’s important. I’d say that back then, the advice I would have needed the most was to trust that everything would be sorted out as long as hard work was put into it. I’ve always been a true believer that work creates its results, and those who pour their heart into what they do will see the fruit of it. That also means seeing opportunities instead of obstacles. The pandemic was a moment when people needed to remind their loved ones that unity and care are crucial, and it was an opportunity for a Flower Shop such as ours to help our community express their love and care!
What problem does your business solve?
We are an e-commerce gift-giving solution that allows for same-day deliveries. We also connect local businesses with farms in Colombia and Ecuador.
What is the inspiration behind your business?
The inspiration for our business and our values is the importance of communicating with an understanding of our community. The quality of our service is focused on listening to the needs of our customers and users since each of them has specific requirements! At the end of the day, our goal is to make our customers happy and for them to know we’re here to make their lives easier, knowing that it’s our way of contributing to our community.
What is your magic sauce?
We hold the whole supply chain that starts with buying from top farms in Latin America all the way to last-mile flower delivery. We also have a specialized and experienced team in every branch of the company.
What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?
We will implement a U.S.-wide drop shipping model with a facility in Ecuador. I want to achieve consistent designs and great quality using farm-fresh flowers.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
We ran into issues with using affiliate florists to fulfill our orders. At that point, we were one of the biggest sending florists in the country and decided to get out of that business model as it became evident that we need to hold the whole supply chain.
How can people get involved?
We’re always open and happy to be a part of something. Luckily, we have been taking advantage of social media and social platforms to interact with our followers and our friends! You can always reach out on one of those platforms or visit our website at www.flowercompany.ca
Recently, we’ve been launching new initiatives to get people involved with interactive spaces, such as live sessions with designers and floral decoration specialists.
