The story of Woods Canada began in 1885 when James W. Woods began to make and supply canvas products to Canadians. These products include tents, sleeping bags, and clothing that were designed for the the harshest regions in Canada.
Woods first began to manufacture his own brand of tents, sleeping bags, and clothes in 1895. Since then, Woods has been the number one choice for many great adventures and explorers including Ernest Hemingway, Harry Snyder, and Sir Hubert Wilkins.
Woods briefly shut down around 2006 but the brand was resurrected by Sport Chek, which is owned by Canadian Tire. The Prospector Tents by Woods are still made in Canada and available in various heights and sizes.
