Tell us about yourself?

My previous experience was as a director for an automotive group. This experience gave me insight into managing complex operations, leading teams, and delivering results. Then came 2020, and childcare shut down, so I was spending my days with my two children instead. I started my “COVID-19 Shutdown” mornings by taking online courses. I have a love of technology and information, so I started off with data science and introduction to coding. From there, I saw a posting for a job that I wanted to learn more about and invited the CEO for coffee.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Tough times don’t last forever. You will get through it, and you’ll come out on the other side stronger and more resilient. Stay focused and take things one step at a time.

What problem does your business solve?

Our commitment is to delivering practical and innovative solutions to everyday problems.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

MPP Software Solutions

MPP Software’s origins are similar to many: it began with a problem that needed a solution. Our founders were in search of a hassle-free way to rent and share their vacation homes with friends and family. They found that the available options were either time-consuming or made their homes available to the general public.

We took matters into our own hands and developed a software solution that could automate the process, making it simple and convenient. This marked the start of MPP’s journey as a company dedicated to creating innovative solutions that simplify and improve people’s lives.

Since then, MPP Software has expanded its focus beyond the private vacation home industry. We have a platform for Canadian Physicians and a direct booking platform for boutique resorts. We have also taken on projects in Fintech, PropTech and Energy sectors.

What is your magic sauce?

Our magic sauce lies in our experienced staff and unique stories. We truly have the best staff, and they know the best people making our network of resources very strong.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

The next five years will finish realizing the original business plan MPP set out to achieve. We had envisioned a 10-year exit plan with a liquidity event in year seven or eight when the company was founded. To achieve this, MPP needs to maintain the course of aggressive revenue growth through product sales, expert service delivery, and targeted M&A activity to reach our desired annual revenue over that period. While we remain on track to do so, tighter capital markets and a spending-averse client base are immediate challenges that must be managed to stay on track.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

The biggest challenge to date has been managing growth. We have been lucky to receive strong capital backing from our shareholders. However, a changing business environment within our client base has led to difficulty balancing our staffing levels, spend levels, and growth targets. In 2022 alone, we had three separate agreements valued at over $100,000 each disappear overnight after staffing or organizational changes within the clients we were working with. The organization had hired to deliver on work that never materialized. These sorts of challenges put a lot of strain on what is still a small company.
