Tell us about yourself?
I started Elite Digital while still in high school over two decades ago and have been growing the company ever since. We recently celebrated our 20-year anniversary in July! As a teenager, I knew I had a passion for marketing and a passion for togetherness (plus entrepreneurship was in my DNA), so I put all that together and created the agency. I’ve been fortunate enough to stay ahead of the curve, so as technology evolved, I was always keeping our clients one step ahead.
If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
Since I started this company when I was so young, I would go way back and tell myself, “You don’t know what you don’t know.” Young Rob thought he knew it all, and only now, looking back on it, do I realize how little I knew at the outset. Fortunately, since I treat everything as a learning opportunity (a value instilled in me by my father), I took every stumble and mistake as a way to learn how to be better in the future. With two decades of constantly learning and striving for improvement, I know a whole lot more now than I did at the beginning of this journey.
If I could only go back a couple of years, I’d love to give myself advice on what a post-COVID-19 world would look like and how much the digital landscape would be accelerated when the entire world moved online, even more so than pre-COVID-19.
What problem does your business solve?
We ask our clients to tell us about their business goals, and then we use all our skills and experience to make that happen. Many of our clients are looking to generate leads, increase engagement with their customers, drive sales, and more. Once we understand the current state of their business and their desired outcome, we craft a custom plan to help make things happen while optimizing to ensure we reach the desired objective.
What is the inspiration behind your business?
We love helping brands and businesses grow and engage with their customers on a deeper level. We really thrive by taking a true multi-channel approach to digital marketing, ensuring we explore every possible avenue that can drive the best results. Since we have an amazing group of in-house subject matter experts, we can look at a problem holistically to craft the best solution. We also have a true partnership approach, where we act as an extension of our client’s team.
What is your magic sauce?
We have the best and most talented people in the industry, and when you put all those awesome people in a room together, we get to watch amazing things happen. Plus, while many other agencies only offer a couple of areas they focus on, we are able to look at the full digital landscape (every tactic, every option) to see what will produce the very best results for our clients. We also have 20 years of experience and best practices under our belts.
What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?
The plan is to continue to grow Elite Digital and build on our amazing foundation. We always plan on investing more in our people so they can deliver better results for their clients. Since the digital marketing world changes so rapidly, we’re also embracing new technologies (such as AI) to accelerate things even faster.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
The biggest challenge so far has been scaling to support our growth while maintaining the same best-in-class service level and awesome culture that we have. I had taken courses and read a lot about “starting a business”, but scaling a business is an entirely separate challenge that brought about many unique obstacles. It was so important to me that we didn’t lose what made us special, and all the reasons our clients and staff loved us, even as we grew rapidly.
