Tell us about yourself?

I started my career working on top consumer brands on the agency side, and I built my reputation by bringing creativity and strategic insights to leading global technology companies such as Microsoft, Sony, and Kobo.

After a decade of progressive marketing leadership experience and having launched over 50 products and brands in over 20 markets worldwide, it was time for something new, as working in-house was great for building product and marketing strategies but came with a limited amount of creative control. Wanting to break free and wanting to push the envelope, I decided to bring my entrepreneurial vision to life.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

You don’t have to have everything planned. Sometimes, you will encounter unexpected opportunities that can lead you to paths that are more fruitful than anything you could have planned for. If you strictly stick to your plan or do not build in flexibility, then you could be missing out.

What problem does your business solve?

Prosh Marketing provides Fractional CMO and Part Time Marketing Director services to startups, along with go-to-market plans, messaging and positioning strategies, and more.

Startups in the early stages usually deal with a lean budget and need someone with strategic marketing capabilities to spearhead the company’s marketing operations. A full-time CMO can be too expensive at this stage.

A fractional CMO is a part-time marketing executive who can come into an organization for a few hours a week and make a huge impact. A fractional CMO makes it possible for businesses to gain valuable insights from a well-trained marketing executive at a fraction of the cost of a full-time, permanent CMO.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

I have always been entrepreneurial – I started my first business teaching art and piano to the neighbourhood children, growing through marketing efforts like flyering and a referral program. My parents are also entrepreneurs, and having worked in the family business, eventually inspired me to launch my marketing agency.

Over the years, I discovered that I enjoyed talking to entrepreneurs and startup founders about their passion and dream to launch their ventures. Hearing about their passion, how they started their company, and what problem they are trying to solve intrigued me and made me want to be in a space where I could help them bring these visions to market.

These factors contributed to the launch of Prosh Marketing in 2017.

What is your magic sauce?

At Prosh Marketing, our approach stresses sustainability, so we work as integrated partners to build marketing teams internally. Unlike agencies who do all the work but leave none of the skills in-house or consultants who only advise but don’t get involved in the execution. Our unique blend of advisory, management, and coaching helps startups and small businesses scale at their own pace while growing their marketing function for the long term.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

Over the next three years, we want to scale our new DIY Marketing plan course community and tweak it for popular industries. We recently launched ProshIQ to help startups and small businesses build their own marketing plans with little to no experience, with a guided course and templates built from my years of startup marketing planning in-field.

In our customer research, we found many entrepreneurs are operating without a marketing plan, so our next steps are to iterate on the product and experience and grow our customer base so that we can help more of them market in a more structured way.

We also plan to grow our Fractional CMO and Fractional Marketing Director pool, as well as our provider database, so we can offer solutions or partners for our startup and small business clients to service a variety of their needs seamlessly.

Over the next five years, we want to scale our service delivery model to include more verticals of management consulting for startups and offer on-demand coaching.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

The pandemic changed the way that we performed our services. Our clients previously required us to go in-house to do our marketing consulting. When we had to change our service delivery to go online, we faced some pushback from some clients who didn’t believe the value we offered could translate online. Over time, not only did they become used to working online, but they also learned how much more efficiently we could work when we weren’t travelling to and from meetings and could bring different people or resources into meetings more easily.

How can people get involved?
