Tell us about yourself?
Over the past decade, I have led analytics teams and worked as an analyst across industries. Before starting Ascend, I was heading analytics for the MENAP region for Uber, and prior to that, I served as the head of analytics for the leading real estate classifieds conglomerate in the region.
If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
One piece of advice I would have given myself two years ago would be to think of the entrepreneurial journey as a marathon and not a sprint. Initially, I was too focused on achieving arbitrary milestones of growth to define the success of the company.

What is the inspiration behind your business?
At the peak of COVID-19, I realised that a lot of businesses had been forced towards digital transformation. This was something they weren’t adequately prepared for. I saw an opportunity to help these organisations establish their digital identity and drive their growth through data-driven decision-making.
What is your magic sauce?
Our customer obsession and passion to solve problems with data is our magic sauce. This, combined with the right mix of professionals with substantial experience across industry segments, is what sets us apart.
What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?
We want to democratise the access to analytics across the globe for enterprises of all sizes. The largest barrier to leveraging analytics is the cost of building an effective data team, and we intend to change that by offering analytics as a service at affordable rates.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
The power of data is still not utilised effectively across organisations. Our biggest challenge has been to change the mindset from relying on heuristics and experience to insights backed by data.
