Half the fun of subscription boxes is the surprise. While it’s nice to receive something new every month, sometimes you want to be sure that you’re going to like what you get. In that case, it’s important to know if you can choose what you want each month.

Some Companies Let You Choose…

Some companies allow you to customize your subscription box, but it’s rare. Examples include the STICKII Monthly Sticker Subscription, which allows you to choose a theme for your stickers each month. The Adults & Crafts Box also takes special requests sometimes, but they won’t always be able to accommodate them.

Aside from these standouts, most subscription boxes allow you to customize smaller parts of the box. For example, Bookishly’s Classics of the Month Club allows you to choose whether you would like a theme-appropriate tea or coffee with your package.

… But Most Won’t.

Most companies have a set selection of items they send each month. There are some variations to this, but for the most part, you can’t choose. Some sampler boxes allow you to set preferences, and food boxes will do the same in certain cases.

However, most of the time, a subscription box is a surprise.
