Taylor McMaster

DOT & Co is a fellow digital marketing agency turned client account manager. In other words, they actually liked nurturing their client relationships more than the ad campaigns. So, now it’s all they do—and Taylor’s here to share the secret sauce with you! From client onboarding to project management and client meetings to sending clients gifts, DOT & Co. are the client-facing account managers you didn’t know you needed.

Tell us about yourself?

I have always had a passion for entrepreneurship and marketing. After working in the corporate world, I quit my job, drained my RRSPs, and started a marketing agency. I had no idea what I was doing, but I knew I had to work for myself. After a couple of years, I found my passion in account management. I pivoted my agency, and now we exclusively focus on account management for marketing agencies.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Taylor McMaster is the founder of DOT & Company, where she and her team help digital marketing agencies keep their clients happy—and keep agency owners focused on what they do best—with full-service client account management (CAM) services.

Taylor leads a team of Client Account Managers at DOT & Company, training the CAMs to work with different agencies. To date, they have helped dozens of digital marketing agencies free up their time to prioritize the money-makers in their businesses, while the DOT & Co. team ensures their client experience is smooth like butter.

She is also the host of The Happy Clients podcast, where she interviews top names in the industry, diving deep into what makes clients happy in the agency world.

What problem does your business solve?

We help marketing agency owners remove themselves from the day-to-day client management so they can focus on what they do best.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

See above!

What is your magic sauce?

Agency facing – Truth? You can’t do it all (none of us can). So, you have to choose what you want to do better: The zone of genius you founded your business on or client management. We vote for your zone of genius. Because our zone of genius just happens to be client management, so we can handle the five-star experience while you deliver those referral-worthy results. No more dropped balls, angry client calls, or bad Google reviews. You deliver on the results you promised, and we’ll deliver on the experience that keeps your clients hiring you again and again.

Don’t have a process for onboarding new clients? Don’t have time to reply to every client email? (No judgment – there are a lot of them!) We’ll tailor account management to your unique agency and its needs. Whether you need a seasoned project manager or weekly campaign reporting, our experienced Client Account Managers are up to the task.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

Our goal is to continue growing our team. This is MY dream job, so I want to give this opportunity to others just like me – remote work while growing your career in marketing.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

Finding the right team members at scale has been challenging! We look for the right *sparkle*, experience in digital marketing, written and verbal skills, and attention to detail. It’s harder to find than we thought!

How can people get involved?

You’re drowning in emails, overwhelmed with client correspondence and project timelines. You’re worried your clients feel forgotten, but you can’t get out of the day-to-day long enough to give them the attention they deserve, so you’re stuck between delivering the results they want or the experience they expect – and not doing either as well as you’d like.

If you’re a marketing agency looking to take your business to the next level with the team members who are there to support you, reach out to DOT & Co. to see how they can help.
