Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company was founded by Frank Seiberling in 1898 in Akron, Ohio. Frank and his brother Charles named the cmopany after Charles Goodyear who had discovered the rubber vulcanization process in 1839. Since then, Goodyear has been changing the way people move and has manufactured tires from private vehicles to tires used on the moon.
In Canada, Goodyear has production facilities in Napanee and Medicine Hat. The Napanee facility employs arond 750 people and Medicine Hat facility around 300 people. Both facilities make tires for cars and light trucks. Goodyear tires are widely available in Canada from tire shops.
