Xemoto’s Media provides brand-safe influencer marketing for companies in even the most heavily regulated industries. We have the platform, network of influencers, and know-how to help businesses reach, engage, and acquire customers.

Tell us about yourself?

I am a growth strategist. The majority of my career has been focused on successfully increasing revenue through strategy development and operations execution, including the launch of new product suites and the implementation of high-ROI digital marketing programs.

I’ve run my own consultancy firm where I helped other leaders grow their businesses, and I’ve held numerous senior-level positions, most recently as VP, Marketing and Strategy for ADP and VP, Marketing and Communications for Cogeco Peer 1 (now Aptum).

I’ve worked in both entrepreneurial and mature businesses and across industries such as human capital management, tech, financial services, telecommunications, and natural resources.

My current role is a good fit for my experience and skills. It brings together my leadership and marketing career experience and also my passion for building strong teams to explore new territory and new ways of doing things.

What we do at Xemoto Media is a team sport, partnering with incredible influencers to help our customers grow their businesses. We have an awesome team of employees, and we are lucky to have an incredibly supportive Board and group of investors.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Always trust your instincts, which are really just a combination of your skills and experience. And recognize that it is okay to make mistakes as long as you learn from them and recover quickly.

What problem does your business solve?

We offer a solution for industries that don’t have easy access to influencer marketing, like B2C in financial services and healthcare and also B2B.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

We needed an effective and compliant way to get people interested in what publicly-traded companies were doing. So, we developed a platform, network of influencers, and the know-how (including compliance with regulatory rules) to initially get retail investors interested in what publicly-traded companies were doing in Canada and the U.S. We’ve since expanded into B2C influencer marketing, working with banks, benefits providers, and media firms for example, and also telecom companies in B2B influencer marketing.

What is your magic sauce?

Our special sauce is the compliant workflow – the focus on brand safety for even the most heavily regulated industries. While beauty brands and retail organizations have been using influencer marketing for years, organizations in heavily regulated industries have been underserved, and Xemoto’s infrastructure and expertise focused on brand-safe compliance means they can also confidently take advantage of influencer marketing.

Our micro-influencers get mega-ROI, so we work where this is a good fit between our customer’s purpose and the organic followers of our influencers.

Xemoto Media’s proprietary influencer marketing platform delivers access to a broad-based community of trusted influencers, compliant workflow, social media distribution, and actionable analytics.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

To dramatically improve the exchange of credible and brand-safe information in marketing. We will do this by simplifying influencer marketing, facilitating engagement with influencers and providing actionable and predictive insights, and ultimately providing greater financial opportunity for businesses and influencers.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

Like many other businesses, we have had to carefully manage our expenses in the face of a challenging economy, but this has made us stronger and expanded our opportunities exponentially.
