Founded in 1905, Macleanβs is a Canadian news magazine that is owned by St. Joseph Communications, a private media organization that is located in Canada. The original founder of the magazine was John Bayne Maclean who said that his purpose was βnot merely to entertain but also to inspireβ its readers. The magazine set out to provide a uniquely Canadian perspective on current affairs and that mission continues to this day.
Over the years, Macleanβs has featured many well-known writers and thinkers from Canada including Pierre Burton, W.O. Mitchell, Peter Gzowski, June Callwood, Steven Leacock and Peter C. Newman. They also presented illustrations from the Group of Seven painters including A.J. Casson, J.E.H. MacDonald and Arthur Lismer. The magazine now publishes its magazine once a month in print and offers digital content through its website.
