Abaka was founded in Shawinigan in 2002 and it is one of the first clothing companies in Quebec with an eco-responsible principle. The company makes garments that are hand-made, sustainable, and made to last, following the ideals of the slow-fashion movement.
Almost all of Abaka’s clothing is made in Quebec. The clothes are designed and cut in their workshop which also operates as a boutique in Shawinigan and they are sewn by skilled seamstresses at home or factories in the province. Some of the clothing is made in Ontario, in particular, the corporate products. Their full line can be viewed and ordered online.
