Canada Goose was established in 1957 as Metro Sportswear. It operated from a small warehouse in Toronto, Ontario but has since grown into a world leader in manufacturing performance luxury apparel.
Canada Goose is now only partially Canadian since Bain Capital, an investment firm based in Boston purchased 70% of the company in 2013. In 2017, the company went public. In more recent developments, Canada Goose joined forces with Sazaby League Ltd. for a joint venture to create Canada Goose Japan.
In 2023, the company introduced Generations, an authorised reselling platform that keeps the products in circulation.
According to a report available on their website, Canada Goose made 75% of products in Canada in 2023. All down-filled jackets are made in Canada, but other products may be manufactured overseas.
