Hinterland Flour Mill is a Canadian company that is owned and operated by the Amiot family. Their farm – where they grow the grain that they use to produce their flour, grain products and snacks – is located in the Yukon. The family began by farming to produce feed crops and over time they discovered which grains grow best in that part of northern Canada. Eventually they decided to grow grain for human consumption and their next step was to grind the grain to create their products.
They produce a number of different types of flour including unbleached wheat flour, unbleached bread flour, oat flour and barley flour. In addition to the flours, they manufacture a delicious lineup of baking mixes to create cookies, muffins, brownies and bannock and an array of breakfast cereals and whole grains. They also make savory grain snacks called Yukon Curls – a puffy treat that comes in a bunch of great flavours.
