Joe Kovacic, who immigrated from Croatia to Canada in 1968, founded Lado Musical Inc in 1973. The company is more commonly referred to as Lado Guitars. Kovacic first started his business in Toronto, but it is now based in Lindsay, Ontario where all the company’s electric and bass guitars are made.

Lado Guitars are custom built and hand made and are among the most sought after guitars in the world. Some of the key features of Lado guitars include necks made with multiple layers of hardwood, serial number and model name on the back of the headstock, and the lettering CDN or CND to show their Canadian origin.
