Mind Your Bees was founded by Ashley and Daniel in 2017. In their own words, the company started “with $50 and an idea.” Ashley was nearing the end of her maternity leave when a friend gave her a beeswax food wrap, which led to the idea of making her own food wraps.

Ashley and Daniel first started selling the Mind Your Bees wraps online and then pitched to wholesalers and stores in and around Hamilton and Toronto. Within three months, they were so busy with orders that they had to hire two helpers.

While the company has grown significanly and moved to bigger premises from the couple’s apartment, the principles remain the same: reduce food waste and use of single-use plastics.
