Founded in 1905, Loewen has been making windows at the forefront of technology, in Steinbach, Manitoba. At their height the company employed around 1,500 people but suffered during the 2008 recession and currently employs about 500. They were purchased by a Danish company in 2010, but bought back by Canadians (including members of the Loewen family) in 2013.
