ARGO was founded as Ontario Drive & Gear Limited in Kitchener, Ontario, in 1962 as a subsidiary of a German company. The company was later renamed after the 6-wheeled amphibious vehicle Argo, released in 1967. As demand for the vehicles increased, the company needed bigger premises and moved to New Hamburg, Ontario, where it still manufactures the vehicles today.

Today, ARGO continues to innovate and develop new ATVs such as the XR 150 in the Youth Serier and the new lineup in the Pro Series. The objective of ARGO continues to be to improve the way its customers ride and work.
