How much does a good mattress cost?

A good mattress can come in a range of prices. Depending on what you need, a good mattress can start at around 600 CAD, but this increases with the quality of the materials, the construction of the mattress, and the features it offers. The brand and mattress company can also factor into the price, as well-known and reputable companies can increase prices to meet product demand.
Some of the best mattresses in Canada are budget models. Average mattresses (ranging from around 800 CAD to 1200 CAD) can improve some of the basic features present in budget mattresses. Luxury mattresses have no upper limit. Our list has options that range up to over 4,000 CAD for a custom or luxury mattress, depending on the brand and materials.
There are good mattresses for every budget. One of our goals is to show you which mattresses are best at whatever price point you can afford.
Which type of mattress is most comfortable?
Choosing a comfortable mattress isn’t always as simple as it appears. While some of the best bed in a box mattresses in Canada can be comfortable for anyone, most will appeal more to one type of sleeper. There are a few different factors that can determine a mattress’s comfort, so make sure to take note of the following factors before you start shopping.

Sleeping Position
The way you sleep can make a difference in what type of mattress you find comfortable. Those who sleep in different positions need different things from their mattress. Side sleepers, for example, need a mattress that aligns their body and reduces pressure points. Stomach sleepers need a supportive surface with a soft top that doesn’t give enough to produce strain. Back sleepers also benefit from a more supportive, firmer mattress.
Of course, the type of mattress you prefer depends on more than your sleeping position. These are generalizations that will apply to most sleepers. Thankfully, there are enough options on the Canadian mattress market so that every sleeper can find the option that works best for them.
A good rule of thumb is to start with a medium-firm mattress. This type of mattress appeals to most sleepers, so try a medium-firm mattress first. If it doesn’t work for you, you’ll have a better idea of what type of mattress will work better.
Body Type
Your body type can factor into how comfortable you find a mattress, too. Canadians with slimmer body types may need a softer mattress. They may not be able to compress a harder mattress, which can reduce the benefits you receive from the materials and construction.
On the other hand, heavier Canadians need a mattress that doesn’t allow them to sink too far into the materials. Past a certain point, the mattress becomes firmer to support the upper layers. If you reach these bottom layers, it can quickly become uncomfortable.
What mattress size should I choose?

Mattress size can affect how much you’ll pay for a mattress. Here’s how each mattress size breaks down.
- A Twin bed, the smallest size, is best for a single sleeper or a child. The Twin XL, on the other hand, is longer than a standard Twin. This size is best for adults sleeping alone or those who need a little more legroom.
- Full-sized beds give single sleepers a lot of room. Two children could be quite comfortable on a full-sized bed, and two adults can fit (though they will be sleeping very close).
- Queen is the most popular mattress size in Canada. A queen is moderately priced and can sleep two people, making them perfect for master bedrooms and guest beds.
- King beds are great for couples, especially those who share a bed with their children or pets. This is also a great choice for those who like to have their own space even when sleeping with a partner. California King beds are longer but narrower, so they are ideal for taller sleepers.
Don’t forget to purchase a foundation, sheets, blankets, and pillows for the mattress size you choose. Selecting these items in the right sizes can help elevate your mattress and protect your investment.
Choosing a memory foam mattress in Canada
Memory foam is a common mattress material that uses pliable foam to create comfort. Regardless of what type of memory foam a mattress uses, the idea is the same. This foam becomes softer when it gets warm, so it sinks and forms to your body. The parts of your body that press deeper into the mattress get warmer, so they will sink further. This allows the foam to support areas that don’t sink as deep, so you won’t feel any strain on your body.
This type of support is effective for most Canadians. Memory foam mattresses are often less expensive than other options, especially hybrid options that include coils. You’ll often find multiple different types and thicknesses of memory foam used within the same mattress to produce a balancing effect. These mattresses also use a lot of temperature control materials to reduce heat, making it easier to sink into sleep without overheating.
While memory foam is one of the most common mattress materials, latex is also used to create a comfortable mattress.
Memory foam vs latex
Latex and memory foam are both materials used within the comfort layers of some of the best mattresses in Canada. Latex has the same comforting, sinking feeling as memory foam. However, it doesn’t sink quite so much. Instead of the ‘quicksand’ or ‘stuck’ feeling that can sometimes accompany memory foam layers, latex keeps you lifted out of the mattress. It’s more responsive, better at mitigating heat, and holds up well over time.
However, it is more expensive and doesn’t have quite the same feel. The best latex mattresses in Canada feature a host of benefits, but there is a definite difference between these materials when it comes to feel. Of course, some mattresses use both latex and memory foam for their comfort layers. These mattresses sometimes provide better options because of the way the materials work together.
Choosing a hybrid mattress in Canada
A hybrid mattress uses pocket coils as a support layer. These mattresses use foam throughout the comfort layers, but the strong coil base allows for better support, comfort, and alignment throughout the mattress. The coils can also produce better airflow, therefore reducing discomfort caused by heat retention.
Coils can cause additional movement to be passed through the mattress, but the trade-offs are numerous. Strong edge support, zoned coils for better ergonomics, and better support are all great benefits that hybrid mattresses offer. Make sure to look for zoned pocket coils, which are firmer through the centre to provide better support at the heaviest part of our bodies.
You also don’t want to neglect the comfort layers when choosing a pocket coil mattress. Choosing thicker comfort layers will keep you lifted out of the mattress, making it more difficult to sink into the coil layer and become uncomfortable. There are a few defining features to consider when looking at the coils within a hybrid mattress as well.
Coil size and shape
The size (including height) and shape of the pocket coils used within a hybrid mattress are important. Most of the best hybrid mattresses in Canada include 6” steel pocket coils. Whether they are zoned or not, these types of pocket coils are best for support, lifting you out of the mattress and keeping your body aligned.
Some hybrid mattresses in Canada now come with microcoils. These coils are much smaller and conical in shape. While these provide support, they are great at contouring your body to provide more personalized, targeted support. They aren’t going to align your body like standard pocket coils, but they add a different benefit that doesn’t feel quite like anything else.
Choosing an organic mattress in Canada
Organic mattresses can be either foam-based or hybrids. Their materials are organic or natural, which means they are made without the chemicals usually found in memory foam or latex foams. These mattresses tend to be a little more expensive than luxury hybrids, but they can provide a better outcome for those with allergies.
When choosing an organic mattress, remember all of the factors that we’ve discussed so far. Make sure to choose the right size, firmness, and price point that works for you. In our organic mattress section below, we’ve highlighted options for all budgets, including a mattress that you build yourself based on the preferences of each partner.
You’ll be looking at mattresses that don’t use chemical bonding agents, chemical foams, or even chemical fire retardants. Most organic mattresses use wool or another fire-resistant material to create this barrier, which allows them to forgo using chemicals to make your mattress safer. However, the most important thing to look for is the mattress’ organic certifications.
Organic certifications
To be truly organic, a mattress and its materials should have certain certifications. These third-party assurances note that the mattress is made with the materials it says it is, and that these materials meet the specifications of each certifying authority. The most common you’ll see here are the GOTS and the GOLS.
- GOTS stands for “Global Organic Textile Standard”, which notes that the mattress and the specific textile materials inside (usually cotton, wool, and other fabrics) meet specifications agreed upon throughout the globe.
- GOLS stands for “Global Organic Latex Standard”. The latex materials used meet the global requirements for latex to be considered ‘organic’, determined by their source, purity, and manufacturing method.
A mattress with one or both of these specifications makes a great option for those who prefer organic materials.

Other factors to consider when shopping for a Canadian Mattress
When shopping for the best mattress in a box in Canada, there are a few other features to consider. Keep these factors in mind while shopping to help improve sleep and get more value out of your mattress.
Temperature control
If you often wake up uncomfortably hot or sweaty, you may need a mattress that reduces heat. Temperature control features are common in most of the best mattresses made in Canada. Memory foam is especially notorious for retaining heat, but temperature control features like gel memory foam, open-cell foam construction, better breathability, and layers of Phase-Control Material (PCM) can reduce heat, wick away moisture, and leave you more comfortable throughout the night.
Motion isolation
A restless partner can keep you up at night, especially when the motion from their tossing and turning transfers along the mattress. The shaking and vibration can keep lighter sleepers awake. Because of this, a lot of mattresses now feature motion isolation features. Thicker materials that absorb motion help keep you still throughout the night, reducing any disturbance from a restless partner.
Pressure relief
Pressure relief is important for all sleepers, though it is significantly more so for side sleepers. Side sleepers can develop uncomfortable pressure points at their shoulders and hips if a mattress doesn’t relieve enough pressure. You should look for a mattress with thick comfort layers (around 4” to 6” of material above a support or transition layer). Though firmness matters for pressure relief, thicker comfort layers nearly always produce better pressure relief throughout the mattress.
Consider a sleep trial
If you aren’t sure which mattress is right for you, consider taking advantage of the sleep trials that online mattress stores offer. Sleep trials give you between a month and a year to try the mattress to see if it works for you. If you don’t like it, you can return it almost any time during that sleep trial period. Some companies make you wait 30 days to return it because this is generally how long it takes someone to adjust to a new mattress.
Sleep trials are useful tools for mattress companies that operate primarily online. Since you can’t go to a mattress store to test a mattress before purchasing it, you’ll have an opportunity to get the same test run in the comfort of your home. Best of all, this trial is much longer than the few minutes you’ll spend looking at the mattress in a store.
Different companies have different sleep trial policies to consider. Make sure you read the policies and documentation before you start using your mattress. We always recommend using a mattress protector to keep the mattress clean and sanitary during your sleep trial. This makes it more likely that a company will accept a mattress return during the sleep trial period.
Best Memory Foam Mattresses in Canada
First, we’ll look at memory foam mattresses in Canada. As we discussed above, this type of mattress uses foam instead of coils to provide better body contouring. These mattresses can be comforting for those who need full-body alignment and value a softer sleeping surface.
Editor's Choice: Douglas Mattress 🍁
The Douglas Mattress is the best memory foam mattress in Canada. It uses all of its materials to create a comforting, pressure-relieving surface without slacking when it comes to support. The materials used are proprietary, improving upon the standard memory foam formula to provide the same memory foam ‘hug’ without the quicksand feeling of regular memory foam.
This means you’ll get the pressure relief qualities that memory foam is known for without feeling stuck. You can freely move around on top of the mattress, and shifting positions is easy. There are also multiple materials here that help with cooling. If you often wake up hot, the ecoLight cooling foam at the top of the mattress may be able to help. It works with the CoolSense cover, which wicks away moisture.
Together, these layers reduce the discomfort that usually comes when body heat builds up within foam layers. Traditional memory foam is notorious for retaining heat, but the cooling foam and alternative materials here do their best to keep you cooler throughout the night. These materials also help reduce motion, so those who sleep with restless partners stay still and comfortable throughout the night.
This medium-firm mattress relieves pressure for most Canadian sleepers. It’s a great mattress for side sleepers, stomach sleepers, and back sleepers. This mattress is the least expensive of Douglas’s three options. It is smaller and offers fewer features than the other mattresses in their lineup (the Douglas Alpine and the Douglas Summit). However, it’s still one of the most solid mattresses in Canada for its performance.
One of the highlights of this mattress is its lower price point. Compared to a lot of other Canadian mattresses (even memory foam ones), this is one of the most budget-friendly mattresses available considering its performance. You won’t find a better fit at a similar price, especially for Canadians who need a medium-firm mattress. We loved the way it contoured without allowing you to feel stuck, as well as how well it isolated motion and reduced heat. All the way around, the Douglas mattress performs extremely well as one of the best mattresses in Canada.
What’s inside the Douglas mattress?
The Douglas Mattress uses layers of proprietary foams, including a latex alternative and memory foam layer. The comfort layers comprise the top 40% (or 4”) of the mattress, leaving room for plenty of sinkage while remaining supportive. Here are some of the materials you’ll find in the Douglas Mattress.
- Infinitex Fibres. The Douglas CoolSense Cover is made with Infinitex fibres, a sustainable fibre that wicks away heat, sweat, and moisture. These fibres are woven into the cover–which is removable and washable without damaging the properties of these fibres.
- Luxury ecoLight Cooling Gel Foam. The first layer is 2” of ecoLight cooling gel foam. Though this is a memory foam, it is made with 40% less carbon input than standard 4lb memory foam. This means it is better for those looking to reduce their carbon footprint. It feels durable and responsive, perhaps even more so than standard memory foam. It also doesn’t create the ‘quicksand’ feeling usually associated with memory foam.
- Elastex Foam. 2” of premium Elastex foam creates the middle of the mattress. This is a latex alternative, meaning it is made differently from standard latex. The result is a responsive layer that doesn’t use the chemicals that often create standard latex. If you are allergic to latex, this layer helps you benefit from the great properties of the material without triggering allergies.
- Motion Isolation Support Foam. The core of the Douglas mattress is 6” of motion isolation support foam, which helps to stop motion from traveling to the other side of the mattress. At the same time, it keeps your body aligned, comfortable, and neutral to reduce aches.
Try it for 365 risk-free nights during Douglas’s sleep trial
The Douglas Mattress has a 365-night trial. This risk-free trial is one of the longest in Canada, giving you a full year to return the mattress if you don’t like it. You have to sleep on the mattress for 21 nights before you can initiate a return, which gives you plenty of time to try it first.
Douglas will ask for pictures of the mattress to ensure that it is in good shape for donation. Then they will schedule a pickup. You must be home for this pickup, so they will ask you when you can be home so their partners can retrieve the mattress.
Once the mattress is picked up, a full refund for your mattress will be issued.
Luxury Memory Foam: Octave Horizon 🍁

Luxury without breaking the bank
Octave’s most luxurious memory foam mattress, the Octave Horizon, is one of our favourites. This mattress is a full 14” thick and includes 6” of comfort layers, making it one of the best options outside of a pillow top for a comforting sleep. No matter how you sleep, this medium-firm mattress works to relieve pressure, reduce strain, and keep your body perfectly aligned for comfort.
This mattress performs extremely well in most areas. It is one of our favourite mattresses in Canada for a reason! For an all-foam mattress, it offers some of the best temperature control on the Canadian market. The mixture of CopperGel foam, phase-changing materials, and tons of airflow make this mattress extremely cool to sleep on. It deals with heat quickly and effectively for even those who sleep hottest, reducing overheating and allowing you to wake up comfortable and well-rested.
It also does a great job at pressure relief. Of course, the 6” comfort layers help in this regard. It’s rare to find comfort layers this thick in most memory foam mattresses. There are also four full layers before the supportive core, which can help with balancing, pressure relief, and keeping you lifted out of the mattress. These layers are made from a variety of high-quality materials, including latex, memory foam, cooling gel foam, and latex alternatives. Together, these materials create a unique feel that you are unlikely to find elsewhere.
Even though this mattress didn’t achieve our top score for motion isolation and edge support, it still performed well in these areas compared to other memory foam mattresses. It does a great job of limiting motion and reducing vibration across the mattress. It also has stronger edges than some memory foam options, especially when compared to other memory foam mattresses.
The Octave Horizon is the top mattress from Octave, which means it costs a little more than some of the other options on this list. However, it won’t break the bank. With the performance it offers, it is more than worth the slightly elevated price when compared to more budget-friendly options. If you want a mattress that consistently outperforms the competition and focuses on pressure relief and comfort, the Octave Horizon might be the option for you.
What’s inside the Octave Horizon?
The Octave Horizon uses some of the same proprietary material as the Douglas mattress. It also adds a few new materials and helps them work together in unique ways. This mattress is 14” thick and uses 6” of comfort layers. This is the thickest comfort layer we’ve looked at so far.
- CryoFusion Cooling Nanofibres. The cover is woven with CryoFusion Cooling Nanofibres, which helps reduce heat and pull it away from you. Instead of building up beneath your body, it disperses and filters down through the other layers to eliminate heat kept close to your body.
- CopperGel Memory Foam. The top layer of this mattress uses CopperGel memory foam. This type of foam is infused with copper, which helps conduct heat away from your body, reduce pressure, and reduce discomfort at all levels.
- PolarMAX. PolarMAX is a phase-changing material that only heats to a certain temperature. If the temperature reaches an uncomfortable level, the phase-changing materials kick in to immediately filter heat away from your body to stop overheating. This layer sits on top of the CopperGel Memory foam layer within the mattress, which means they can work together to pull heat away from you.
- Aerated Latex. Latex is extremely responsive, and aerated latex is the same material with hundreds of small ventilation holes to improve airflow. The additional airflow helps with excess body heat, but it also helps keep your sleep surface fresh. These holes don’t prevent the latex from being bouncy, supportive, and responsive. This layer is 1.5” thick.
- EcoLuxe Cooling Gel Foam. This 2” layer of cooling gel foam fulfills a few roles in the mattress. It helps with deep pressure relief and deeper heat. This layer adapts to your shoulders and hips for better balance and alignment. It also banishes any heat that makes it deeper into the mattress, allowing you to stay comfortable even if you usually overheat.
- Elastex. Like the Elastex foam in the Douglas mattress, this 2” layer reduces the ‘stuck’ feeling usually associated with memory foam mattresses. The mattress retains a springy, bouncy feel because of this latex alternative layer, so you can move freely throughout the night.
- Multi-Zone Support Foam. This supportive foam layer is 6” thick on its own. It helps with targeted support. The channels cut into the foam held to promote better airflow, but they also provide strategic collapse points so the core supports your body better. You’ll get stronger support right where you need it.
Risk-free 365-night trial to try it out
The Octave Horizon comes with a 365-night sleep trial (like all other Octave mattresses). This sleep trial gives you a full year to test the mattress. Since you can’t test the mattress in person before you make a purchase, this trial gives you plenty of time to test it at home. Without the pushy salesperson asking you what you think during a two-minute test, you can develop a solid idea of whether the mattress works for you.
Octave requires that you sleep on the mattress for at least 21 nights before initiating a return. It takes time for your body to adjust to a new mattress, so you should continue the trial for at least 3 weeks before deciding that you don’t like it. Once you initiate a return, Octave will ask for images of the mattress to assess its condition. If accepted, the mattress will be donated to charity. Octave will set up a pick-up, and you must be home during this time. Once the mattress is picked up from your home, your refund will begin processing.

Zero Motion Transfer: The Endy Mattress 🍁

Affordable comfort with minimal motion transfer
The Endy Mattress is a Canadian-made, all-foam mattress known for impressive motion isolation and balanced support. It has been designed with a variety of sleepers in mind and comes in three different firmness options to accommodate different sleeping positions and body types. Whether you prefer to sleep on your side, back, or stomach, the Endy Mattress aims to deliver comfort and support without allowing you to sink too much. It is competitively priced, making it an accessible option for Canadians seeking a high-quality mattress without a hefty price tag.
One of the absolute standout features of this mattress is its ability to eliminate motion transfer, making it an excellent choice for couples, especially if you are a light sleeper. With the Endy mattress, you are less likely to feel movement from your partner, which can help you get an uninterrupted night’s sleep. The mattress also uses open-cell foam technology to improve airflow and temperature regulation. While it may not be as good at temperature regulation as many hybrid mattresses, it still performs well for a full-foam option.
The Endy Mattress provides good pressure relief, particularly for side sleepers. Its foam layers contour the body’s natural curves, thus helping to reduce strain on pressure points such as your hips and shoulders. The balanced firmness prevents excessive sinkage, which supports correct spinal alignment. Canadians who prefer a more cradling mattress can opt for the plush version, while those who like a firmer surface are likely to find the firm version more comfortable.
People who are looking for a full-foam mattress that offers good edge support will also be happy with the Endy Mattress. While the edge support is not as strong as some hybrid mattresses, it beats many other full-foam mattresses in this area. The mattress’s design ensures it has decent stability around its perimeter, which allows you to sit or sleep near the edge without feeling like you are about to slide off.
Being a full-foam mattress, the Endy Mattress is not as bouncy as hybrid models, but it still has a responsive construction that allows you to adjust positions during the night easily enough. Overall, the Endy Mattress offers a good balance of comfort and motion isolation at affordable prices, making it one of the top choices among full-foam mattresses in Canada.
What’s inside the Endy Mattress?
The Endy Mattress now also comes in three different firmnesses. This mattress offers a firm, medium-firm and plush version, which sets it apart from the other options (which usually include a Medium-Firm and Firm mattress). This option is also unique because of the way it handles different firmnesses. Instead of having different layers or construction, this mattress uses different layer thicknesses to achieve a different firmness. Here’s what is inside both versions of the Endy Mattress.
- Stretchy Cover. The cover of the Endy Mattress is extremely stretchy and breathable. The quilted material is soft and comfortable. Plus, it can be removed and washed at home. There are no special washing instructions to keep your Endy mattress fresh.
- Endy Comfort Foam. Both versions of the Endy Mattress use a top layer of Endy’s proprietary comfort foam. This layer is made with open-cell memory foam. It is responsive enough to allow you to move freely. Meanwhile, the open cell design helps isolate heat, moving it away from you to reduce overheating. In the Plush version of this mattress, this layer has 25% more cushioning.
- Transition foam. A middle layer of transition foam helps with pressure relief throughout the night. This layer also helps with motion transfer, and it’s part of the reason that the Endy mattress is well-known for being one of the best mattresses in Canada for motion isolation. This layer is softer in the Plush mattress for enhanced comfort.
- Support foam. The bottom of the Endy mattress features a high-density foam base layer. This layer is firm enough to support you and stay supportive over time without interfering with comfort. The Plush version uses the same support layer, but it is 1” taller for additional support on the softer mattress.
Try at home for 100 nights
Endy offers a 100-night sleep trial on their mattresses, allowing customers to test them in the comfort of their homes. If unsatisfied, customers can start the return process after a minimum trial period, which ensures ample time to adjust to the new mattress.
The return process is straightforward. Once it has been requested, Endy will coordinate the pickup and issue a full refund upon return. This risk-free trial period reflects Endy’s commitment to customer satisfaction and confidence in their mattresses.

Fully Proprietary Memory Foam: The Emma Original 🍁

A budget-friendly option with premium features
The Emma Original Mattress is a popular choice among Canadians looking for an all-foam mattress. It is designed to offer a balance of comfort and support to make it suitable for most body types. It features a medium firmness level, meaning it is suitable for back, side, and combination sleepers.
Despite its affordable price point, the Emma Original Mattress includes high-quality materials that enhance its breathability, pressure relief, and durability. While it is thinner than some competitors’ mattresses, its multi-layered design ensures a comfortable sleeping experience.
This Emma mattress is constructed with three primary foam layers that work together to provide a feeling that is both responsive and adaptive. While all-foam mattresses can often sleep hot, the technology used in the Emma Original helps to keep air circulating and your sleeping surface cooler.
One of the Emma Original’s standout features is the excellent motion isolation it offers. The combination of memory foam and transition layers absorbs movement effectively, making it a great choice for couples or light sleepers. The mattress also performs well in pressure relief, especially for those who experience joint or back pain. While its edge support is slightly weaker compared to some other foam mattresses featured here, it still offers a stable sleeping surface.
Overall, the Emma Original Mattress offers a comfortable and supportive sleeping surface. It is an especially worthwhile option for those who prioritise affordability, pressure relief and motion isolation. However, it may not be the best option for Canadians who often sleep hot.
What’s inside the Emma Original Mattress?
The Emma Original mattress is a best-selling all-foam mattress from Emma. It comes at a budget price and is frequently marked down. However, it is also a thinner mattress. Sometimes, the comfort layers won’t be enough. The two comfort layers on this mattress represent just 3.2” of the mattress’s 10” height. Regardless, here are the materials used within the Emma Original mattress.
- 100% polyester cover. The cover of the Emma mattress is soft and comfortable. It is made with 100% polyester, meaning that it can be washed easily without following additional care instructions.
- Point Elastic airgocell foam. This top layer is breathable and cool. It uses unique proprietary technologies to absorb sweat and moisture and then evaporate it, keeping it out of your sleeping spaces. This layer of super soft foam is 1.6” thick. It’s safe to say that most of Emma’s cooling properties come from this layer.
- Halo memory foam. This adaptive layer of memory foam is also 1.6” thick. It forms the mattress to your body, providing customized support and reducing strain. It helps create a memory foam ‘hug’ that provides excellent pressure point relief while keeping you lifted out of the mattress below.
- HRX support layer. The 6.8” support layer is made with High Resiliency Extra, a type of foam that is extremely durable and reforms quickly once it is pushed out of shape. This layer features cut-out zones that help adapt to your body, providing key counter pressure to reduce strain and help you sleep comfortably. The design of this layer is tailored to spinal alignment and support for all sleeping positions, depending on how you sleep and your body type.
A full year’s risk-free trial period
Emma is among those mattress companies in Canada that offer a 365-night sleep trial. This generous trial period ensures that you can be 100% certain the mattress is right for you. Because your body needs some time to adjust to your new mattress, Emma recommends you sleep on it at least 21 nights before deciding.
If you feel that the mattress is not meeting your expectations, for example, it is not the right firmness level for you or it makes you feel hot during the night, you can contact Emma’s customer service via phone, email, or online chat to initiate your return. They will then arrange for the mattress to be picked up and your full refund.

Top-of-the-Line from Canada's Most Popular Mattress Company: The Douglas Summit 🍁

All-in-one support, comfort, and performance
The Douglas Summit is the company’s premium mattress. Like their other mattresses, the Summit is an all-foam mattress. It has a medium-firm feel, which makes it a suitable option for most body types and sleeping positions. The mattress is well-balanced and provides a cushiony feel that allows you to sink in slightly while maintaining essential support for your spine.
One of the standout features of the Douglas Summit is its advanced, built-in cooling technology. It has a cover that feels cool to the touch, infused with cooling fibres that have been designed to regulate temperature effectively. It is because of its advanced cooling technologies that the Summit offers better temperature regulation than average full-foam mattresses.
If you are looking for a mattress that offers excellent motion isolation, then the Douglas Summit could be an ideal choice for you. Its all-foam construction minimises motion transfer and makes it an excellent choice for anyone who shares their bed. Its foam layers effectively prevent movement from travelling across the bed, meaning you are less likely to be disturbed by your partner moving during the night.
The Douglas Summit has better-than-average edge support and even scores higher than some hybrid beds with hybrids generally having stronger edges than full-foam mattresses. The stronger edges make the Douglas Summit a comfortable option for Canadians who often like to sleep on the edge of the bed.
Because the Douglas Summit performs well on all key criteria, it is suitable for most Canadian adults, but especially side, back, and combination sleepers. Those who prefer to sleep on their stomach may find they need a slightly firmer mattress, especially if they are heavier individuals, while petite Canadians may find they need a softer mattress to allow more contouring.
What’s inside the Douglas Summit?
The Douglas Summit uses some of the same layers of proprietary foams as the Douglas mattress. It uses the same construction system, but the materials are thicker. This mattress also contains new materials. Since it’s the fully upgraded version of the original Douglas, we’ll go over the materials and construction here.
- Infinitex Fibres and CryoFusion Cooling Nanofibres. The cover of the Douglas Summit uses both sustainable Infinitex fibres (which already help vent heat) and CryoFusion Cooling Nanofibres. These fibres reduce heat throughout the mattress, starting out cool to the touch before you lay down. Plus, this cover is completely machine-washable.
- Polar Temperature Balancing. A coating on top of the first layer of foam uses phase-changing materials (PCM) for temperature control. Phase-changing materials only heat up to a certain temperature. Once that temperature is reached, it vents off all excess heat continually throughout the night.
- ecoLight Cooling Gel Foam. Because Summit is the most upgraded version of the Douglas mattress, it features the thickest layer of cooling gel foam in their mattress lineup. 2.5” of ecoLight cooling gel foam vents excess heat away from you, keeping excess temperatures away as you sleep. This works together with the PCM layer above to keep you cooler throughout the night.
- Premium Elastex. The middle layer is made with premium Elastex, a responsive latex alternative that allows you to move freely. This layer cradles deep pressure points without you feeling stuck in the mattress. When you turn over and get comfortable again, you’ll have the same level of comfortable support thanks to this layer.
- Motion Isolation Support Foam. The base of the mattress works to isolate motion so your partner doesn’t wake you up when they toss and turn. This 7” layer also provides extreme support for all sleeping positions, so you stay comfortable night after night.
Try and home through all seasons
Douglas is another Canadian mattress company that offers a full year’s trial period. When you get to try your mattress at home for 365 nights, you can see how it works for you during all seasons. That way, you can be certain that it helps you keep warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
The trial period starts the day you receive your new mattress. Like most other mattress companies, Douglas asks you to use the mattress for at least 21 nights before you ask to return it. If you decide to return the mattress within the trial period, Douglas will arrange a pickup and refund your money once the mattress has been collected.

Advanced Foam Technology: The Casper Mattress 🍁

Supportive foam layers offering pressure relief
The Casper Mattress is an all-foam mattress designed to provide a balance of support and pressure relief. It has a medium-firm feel which caters to a wide range of sleepers, particularly those who sleep on their back or side. The mattress’s responsive layers of foam facilitate effortless movement without feeling at all stuck, making it suitable for combination sleepers who frequently change positions during the night.
One of the key features of the Casper Mattress is the way it supports the different areas of your body. The foam layers ensure the hips receive enough support to prevent them from sinking, while the shoulders are cushioned for improved comfort. This can promote healthy sleep posture and ease pressure points, allowing you to sleep more comfortably.
In terms of motion isolation, the Casper Mattress performs well. Its all-foam construction absorbs movement effectively, thus reducing disturbances caused by a partner’s movements. However, the mattress design is somewhat let down by its edge support, which is not as strong as some of the other all-foam mattresses on our list offer. If you prefer to sleep on the edge, you may feel like you could easily roll off the bed.
Another group of Canadians who may find the Casper does not meet their requirements are those who often sleep hot. Despite the cooling features this mattress offers, it does not allow heat to escape as well as some of the other mattresses we have reviewed.
Many readers will already have noticed that this mattress is one of the more expensive options among the all-foam mattresses featured here. It also has one of the shorter warranties offered. Despite this, the Casper Mattress is a popular choice in Canada and offers a balance of support and comfort for many body types and sleeping positions.
What’s inside the Casper Mattress?
The Casper mattress is a full-foam mattress made with layers of different types of foam to provide bounce and contouring. The mattress is 10 inches tall with a 3-inch thick comfort layer to reduce pressure points whilst your spine is supported.
- Cozy Knit Cover. The mattress is covered with a soft knit, stretching cover. It is comfortable against the skin and allows the foam layers underneath to respond to movement as it stretches around them.
- Airscape™ Foam. The top layer of the mattress is made with perforated breathable foam that has been designed to increase airflow and reduce heat retention.
- Premium Memory Foam. The next layer in the Casper Mattress is made with premium memory foam. It cradles your body and absorbs pressure so you can stay more comfortable while you sleep.
- ProSupport Foam. The base layer is made of high-density foam that provides overall support and durability to the mattress. It prevents sagging and ensures the mattress maintains its shape and performance over time.

Cooling and Supportive: The Octave Mirage 🍁

A premium memory foam mattress for a cooler sleep experience
The Octave Mirage is a premium memory foam mattress that has been designed to provide a balanced and supportive sleep experience. With a medium-firm feel, it caters to various sleeping positions by ensuring both comfort and proper spinal alignment so you can wake up more refreshed.
This mattress by Octave stands out for its advanced cooling features and pressure-relieving properties. These qualities make it a suitable choice for Canadians seeking a cooler and more comfortable night’s rest. Its cooling features include phase-changing materials to dissipate heat, which helps you maintain a more comfortable body temperature.
The Octave Mirage also offers good motion isolation. Its memory foam absorbs vibrations from movement and prevents them from travelling from one part of the mattress to another. This, together with its ability to keep you cool, makes it a great option for couples.
While edge support is often a concern with all-foam mattresses, the Octave Mirage performs well in this area, too. Its supportive edge prevents sagging caused by sleeping or sitting on the edge of the bed and maximises usable surface.
Finally, the Octave Mirage also offers plenty of pressure relief, which is critical for preventing aches and pains. Its design targets pressure points in your hips, shoulders, and back and promotes proper alignment of your spine.
What’s inside the Octave Mirage?
The Octave Mirage has a balanced construction that prevents excessive sinkage while maintaining a weightless, cloud-like comfort. At 13 inches, it is higher than the average all-foam mattresses and has a 6 inches thick comfort layer for contouring and pressure relief.
- CryoFusion™ Cooling Nanofibre Cover. The Octave Mirage features a removable, machine-washable cover with CryoFusion cooling nanofibres. This is a proprietary technology used by Octave and other Goodmorning.com brands to reduce heat retention at the surface.
- CopperGel™ Memory Foam + PolarMAX®. A layer of memory foam with phase-change materials and infused with copper, a material known for its heat-conducting and antimicrobial properties. This layer pulls heat away from the body, helping to regulate temperature throughout the night.
- Aerated latex foam. This layer promotes breathability with hundreds of perforations that enhance airflow and allow cool air to circulate to prevent heat buildup. The latex foam layer also offers gentle contouring and reduces pressure points.
- Premium Elastex® foam. A transitional layer designed to ease pressure and improve movement across the mattress. It is a latex alternative that is more buoyant and responsive than traditional memory foam. It offers extra cushioning, which makes the mattress particularly well-suited for those requiring additional pressure relief.
- Multi-zone support foam with air channels. The base of the Octave Mirage is made with high-density foam to provide durability and long-term support. It has precision-cut air channels to improve breathability and zoned support areas to reinforce crucial pressure points.
No-risk one-year sleep trial
The Octave Mirage comes with a 365-night sleep trial, allowing customers to test the mattress for a full year before making their final decision. This generous policy reflects Octave’s confidence in its product and its commitment to customer satisfaction.
If the Octave Mirage isn’t the right fit, you can initiate a return after a minimum of 21 nights. This adjustment period ensures your body has enough time to adapt to the mattress before deciding. The return process is hassle-free, with no restocking or return fees. You will receive a full refund of the purchase price once they have collected their mattress.

Blending Comfort and Support: The Douglas Alpine 🍁

Affordable Canadian Craftsmanship
The Douglas Alpine mattress is a prime example of superior Canadian design and craftsmanship. Positioned between the Douglas Original Mattress and the premium Summit Mattress, the Alpine provides enhanced features without a significant increase in cost compared to the Original Mattress. This makes it an attractive option for those seeking luxury within a reasonable budget.
The Douglas Alpine uses an advanced temperature regulation system that is designed to wick away heat and moisture and ensure a cool sleeping surface. While not the most effective at keeping you cool while you sleep, it scores higher than average for its cooling properties.
The Alpine excels in motion isolation, which is a crucial factor for couples or those whose sleep is easily disturbed. The mattress’s all-foam construction effectively minimises motion transfer and ensures that sleepers can enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep with minimal interruptions caused by vibrations from movement.
If pressure relief is a key factor for you, the Douglas Alpine should be one of the foam mattresses to consider. The mattress has thoughtfully designed layers that conform to the body’s shape, alleviating pressure points and promoting proper alignment.
In summary, the Douglas Alpine delivers a blend of advanced cooling technology, motion isolation, and pressure-relieving support. Since it is positioned as a midline model, it provides an excellent balance between luxury features and affordability, making it a worthy option for Canadians seeking a high-quality all-foam mattress.
What’s inside the Douglas Alpine?
When it comes to mattress construction, the Alpine sits firmly in the middle. At 11 inches high, it is one inch higher than the Original and one inch lower than the Summit. It has a 4-inch thick comfort layer that is made with two types of foam to provide pressure relief.
- CoolSense Cover. The Douglas Alpine mattress has a breathable and washable CoolSense cover that has been woven with sustainable Infinitex fibres to wick away heat and moisture. The cover is easily removable with a zipper to make it easy to wash and refresh.
- ecoLight® Cooling Gel Foam + Polar® Temperature Balancing. The first comfort layer is made with ecoLight cooling gel foam. This advanced foam, coated with a layer of Polar phase-changing material, helps regulate temperature by reducing heat retention for a more consistent sleep temperature.
- Premium Elastex® Foam. The second comfort layer is thick Elastex foam, which is a synthetic alternative to natural latex. This responsive material provides excellent cushioning and relieves pressure. It also enhances mobility so you don’t feel stuck in the mattress.
- Motion Isolation Support Foam. At the base is a 6.5-inches high-density motion isolation support foam which provides stability and alignment. This layer helps minimise motion transfer, making it an excellent choice for couples or light sleepers. It also supports proper weight distribution for a proper spinal alignment and a more comfortable sleep experience.
One of the longest sleep trials on the Canadian market
Like the other mattresses from Douglas, the Alpine comes with a 365-night sleep trial. Douglas’s sleep trial period is among the longest in Canada and ensures you can test your mattress thoroughly before you have to decide.
Whilst the company firmly believes you will be happy with their mattress, whether it is the Alpine or one of the other mattresses you have chosen, you can ask to return the mattress once the minimum trial period has ended. As with the other models, the pickup is free and refunds are issued once the mattress has been picked up.

Best Hybrid Mattresses in Canada
Hybrid mattresses have increased in popularity in Canada and it is no wonder since they combine the best of both worlds by blending the contouring comfort of foam with the support and durability of innerspring mattresses. Hybrid mattresses are ideal for Canadians who want the cushioning of memory foam but also like the bounce and edge support that comes with coils.
Editor's Choice: Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress 🍁
The Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress offers the perfect balance of support and comfort, which makes it a great choice for Canadians seeking the best of both foam and coil technologies. It combines two layers of high-quality memory foam with pocketed coils, thus creating a sleeping experience that contours your body while maintaining exceptional durability and support. This hybrid mattress comes in two firmness options: medium-firm and plush for those who prefer a more cloud-like feeling.
The Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress excels in motion isolation, which makes it a great option for couples or people who are easily disturbed. The combination of high-quality memory foams and individually wrapped pocket coils minimises motion transfer, ensuring that movement on one side of the mattress does not disturb the other. Unlike traditional innerspring mattresses, which can allow more movement to travel across the surface, this hybrid design absorbs and isolates motion effectively for a peaceful night’s rest.
The Silk & Snow Hybrid also features efficient temperature regulation. The mattress design incorporates breathable materials, including gel-infused memory foam and a pocket coil system that promotes airflow. This prevents heat retention and helps sleepers maintain a comfortable temperature throughout the night. Hot sleepers, in particular, will appreciate the way the Silk & Snow Hybrid disperses heat compared to many traditional memory foam options.
Pressure relief is well-balanced in this mattress, thanks to its memory foam layers that cradle the body. The foam layers are supported by coils arranged in strategic zones to reduce stress on key pressure points, such as the shoulders, hips, and lower back, while also providing support for proper spinal alignment.
Finally, the Silk & Snow Hybrid includes a strong edge created with reinforced coils along its perimeter. This design prevents excessive sinkage, making it easier to sit or sleep near the edge without feeling like you will roll off. This is a key feature for those who want to maximise the usable surface area of their mattress. With its combination of comfort, support, cooling technology, and motion isolation, the Silk & Snow Hybrid is a well-rounded choice for a variety of Canadians.
What’s inside the S&S Hybrid?
The Silk & Snow Hybrid is constructed using two layers of foam on top of a base made with up to 1,200 pocketed coils. The foam layers provide contouring while the pocketed springs ensure the mattress offers support for your spine. This combination relieves pressure points and helps you get more comfortable, resulting in a more refreshing night’s sleep.
- Antimicrobial Cover. The cover is made of antimicrobial and hypoallergenic polyester designed to help inhibit the growth of bacteria and to reduce odours and staining. Although you cannot remove or wash the cover, you can enhance its protective features by using a mattress protector, which is recommended for cleanliness and longevity.
- Quilted Layer. This layer of quilted foam provides softness and comfort, while also helping to regulate temperature. It is quilted with hollow fibre fill, which makes it moderately plush but still supportive enough for a balanced feel.
- Cooling-gel infused high-density memory foam. Next is a 2-inch layer of high-density memory foam with cooling-gel for better temperature regulation. It also offers great pressure relief, especially for side sleepers by cushioning the hips and shoulders and ensuring that the body remains well-supported while alleviating pressure points.
- Pocket coil base. Below the foam layers is an 8-inch foundational layer that is filled with up to 1,200 individually wrapped pocket coils depending on the size of the mattress. These coils provide superior support and breathability, making the mattress feel cool, responsive, and firm.
- Reinforced edge. The mattress has reinforced extra storing coils around its perimeter to add extra durability. These coils ensure that the edge stays firm and provides proper support, so you can sit or sleep near the edge without sagging. This construction helps extend the life of the mattress while ensuring that the entire surface stays supportive and comfortable in regular use.
The plush option has an additional comfort layer, and some layers are taller to create better pressure relief.
100 nights to make up your mind
The Silk & Snow Hybrid mattress comes with a 100-night sleep trial. While this is not as long as the year-long trial offered by some, it still gives you plenty of time to get used to your new mattress and decide whether it meets your sleeping needs.
The trial begins from the day you receive your mattress. Again, it is good to remember that your body will take time to adjust to the changed sleeping surface. If you decide within the trial period that the mattress does suit you, contact Silk & Snow and they will arrange a refund and pickup for you.
Luxury Hybrid Comfort: Logan & Cove Frontier 🍁

A cool and comfortable sleeping experience
The Logan & Cove Frontier mattress provides a premium sleep experience by combining plush comfort with zoned support. It is designed with those who prioritise pressure relief and spinal alignment in mind and features a medium-firm feel that suits a wide range of Canadians. Whether you are a back, side, or stomach sleeper, the Frontier’s adaptive foam layers and responsive coils work together to cushion pressure points while keeping your spine in a proper position.
The Logan & Cove Frontier incorporates cooling technologies that help disperse body heat during the night. These technologies work effectively and help you maintain a comfortable body temperature even during the warmer months of the year. If you often wake up because of overheating while you sleep, the Frontier is worth considering for its cooling capabilities.
Another key strength of this mattress is its ability to isolate motion. Thanks to its combination of memory foam, transitional layer, and individually wrapped coils, the mattress absorbs movement well. Couples will appreciate how the mattress minimises disturbances, especially if their partner is a restless sleeper or they are easily woken up by movement.
Edge support is another important factor, especially among Canadians who like to sleep near or on the edge of the mattress. A stronger edge means you are less likely to feel like you might fall out of bed. The Frontier’s design includes a perimeter of stronger coils to ensure the edge is supportive and to prevent sagging.
The Logan & Cove Frontier is a medium-firm mattress, rated at 6.5 on a scale from one to ten. This makes it a suitable option for most Canadians and offers support and comfort for the majority of back, side, and combination sleepers. However, if you are a petite person, you may find the Frontier too firm and may wish to consider a plusher option.
What’s inside the Logan & Cove Frontier?
The Logan & Cove Frontier mattress uses a carefully designed combination of foams and coils to create a mattress that offers both support and comfort. This hybrid is 13.5” thick with a 3.5” comfort layer. By incorporating advanced technologies, the mattress manufacturer has also ensured the Frontier also provides temperature regulation and motion isolation.
- Quilted Euro-top cover. The cover on the Frontier is made from a soft and comfortable fabric and quilted. It is infused with CryoFusion nanofibres, which help to keep your sleeping surface cooler and provide a more comfortable and refreshing sleeping experience. This cooling cover is especially practical if you often overheat at night.
- ecoLuxe® Cooling Gel Foam. Beneath the cover is a layer of ecoLuxe, which is foam infused with cooling gel that mimics the pressure-relieving properties of high-density memory foam. This layer helps with contouring and offers targeted pressure relief while also actively working to dissipate heat.
- Aeroduct micro coils. The next layer of the mattress is made with micro coils. This layer is designed to offer responsive support while ensuring breathability. The coils contour the body, providing relief to key pressure points such as your shoulders and hips. The aeroduct coils also help with air circulation and prevent heat buildup.
- Premium Elastex® foam. Next comes a transitional layer of Elastex foam, which is a latex alternative. This layer helps to reduce motion transfer and ensures that the sleeper is not sinking too deeply into the mattress, thus creating a more elevated and comfortable sleeping position.
- Pocketed coils with reinforced edge support. The foundation of the Logan & Cove Frontier comprises individually wrapped pocket coils for greater comfort and support. These coils are arranged in zones, with firmer coils around the center to provide optimised lumbar support, while softer coils at the shoulders and knees reduce pressure points. The perimeter has firmer coils to reinforce the edges and to ensure they remain sturdy and supportive.
Try it for a year before you decide
Logan & Cove is among those Canadian companies that allow you to try the mattress at home for a full year. Once your new mattress arrives, you can enjoy a full trial period to assess its performance. If it doesn’t meet your expectations, you can ask to return it after a 21-night minimum adjustment period.
The return process is straightforward, with no hidden fees or restocking charges. If you choose to return the mattress, Logan & Cove will offer you a full refund. You simply contact the customer service team to arrange a pickup at a time convenient for you and the refund will be processed after the collection.

Versatile Comfort: The Endy Hybrid 🍁

Available in three firmness options to suit varied preferences
The Endy Hybrid mattress is designed to deliver a balanced sleep experience by offering support, pressure relief, and motion isolation. It comes in three firmness options—plush, medium-firm, and firm—which means it caters to a wide range of sleeping preferences and body types. Whether you prefer a softer mattress for deeper contouring, a firmer surface for extra support, or something in the middle the Endy Hybrid has you covered.
Motion isolation is one of the Endy Hybrid’s strongest features achieved by combining responsive foam and individually wrapped coils. This combination effectively prevents movement from travelling across the mattress and makes this hybrid mattress a worthwhile option for couples and light sleepers.
Pressure relief is another key factor when choosing a mattress and the Endy Hybrid performs well in this area. The foam comfort layers cradle your pressure points, reducing strain on the shoulders, hips, and lower back. The medium-firm option will provide the right amount of comfort and support for most Canadians, especially side, back, and combination sleepers. Heavier individuals and stomach sleepers may want to consider the firm option and petite sleepers the plush option for the best balance of pressure relief and support.
While the Endy Hybrid has better edge support than the average full-foam mattress, it does not perform as well as many other hybrid mattresses in this area. If you like to sleep on the edge or need a strong, supportive edge when getting in and out of bed, you may find that some of the other options offer you more support. That said, the edge is still strong enough to support the shape of the mattress during its lifetime.
Another area where the Endy Hybrid does not perform as well is temperature control. While it includes cooling technologies such as the cooling gel in the foam layer, the mattress still retains some heat and does not sleep as cool as some of its competitors. While the temperature regulation is likely to be effective and reliable enough for many Canadians, hot sleepers may prefer a mattress that scores higher in this department.
What’s inside the Endy Hybrid?
The Endy Hybrid combines a quilted cover, with three layers of foam and an innerspring core to deliver a comfortable surface for you to sleep on. The types of foam and coils are the same for all three firmness levels. The comfort layers are thicker or thinner in the plush and firm options, respectively.
- Quilted cover. The Endy Hybrid has a plush quilted cover that incorporates a layer of foam directly into the fabric. This cover is designed to enhance the overall softness of the mattress, making it ideal for Canadians who want a more plush sleeping surface.
- Endy Comfort Foam. The first foam layer of the Endy Hybrid is made from Endy Comfort Foam, which is an open-cell foam to encourage airflow compared to traditional memory foams. This foam offers a plush feel and helps to relieve pressure so you can sleep more comfortably.
- Transition foam. Below the layer of Comfort Foam is a layer of transition foam. This layer acts as a barrier between the foam layer above and the pocket coils below. It provides targeted pressure relief to the shoulders, hips, and knees and supports proper alignment. By keeping you elevated and well-supported, this layer allows you to enjoy the benefits of the coils without feeling them directly.
- Zoned coil support. The core of the Endy Hybrid mattress is constructed with carbon steel coils that are individually wrapped and arranged in ergonomic zones. This layer provides a responsive and supportive base for the foam layers. The zoned arrangement ensures a more comfortable and tailored sleep experience and reduces motion transfer across the mattress.
- Support foam. The final layer is made from high-density foam. It supports the pocket coils and helps the mattress maintain its firmness and prevent sagging. It improves the long-term durability of the mattress, preserving its structure throughout its lifespan.
Try it for over three months
When you purchase a new mattress from Endy, you get to try it at home for 100-nights. Considering that it takes just a few weeks, maximum, for your body to adjust to your new mattress, this is a long enough trial period for you to decide on its suitability even if it is not as long a sleep trial as some other companies offer.
If the Endy Hybrid is not the right fit for you, the company will arrange for the mattress to be picked up by a third party. You will be contacted by the third party directly to arrange the pickup. Normally, this will happen within a week after you requested the return, but it may take longer, especially in rural areas.

Multi-Zoned Support: The Casper Original Hybrid 🍁

Balanced support with multiple ergonomic zones
The Casper Original Hybrid is a well-balanced mattress that delivers a combination of support, pressure relief, and motion isolation. It is a medium-firm mattress, designed to accommodate a variety of sleeping positions while offering a responsive and supportive feel. Its hybrid construction includes contouring foam layers with a coil support system to provide both comfort and durability.
The Casper Original Hybrid is a good option for people who like to sleep on the edge of the mattress or need a sturdier edge to help with getting in and out of bed thanks to its supportive edge. The built-in Casper edge support creates a firm perimeter that prevents sagging and maximises the usable space of the mattress.
Canadians who sleep hot will also be happy with the Casper Original, as it has effective cooling systems that help you maintain a comfortable body temperature while you sleep. The inclusion of Casper’s AirScape foam together with the coil core ensures that there is good air flow to allow warmer air to disperse. The mattress is designed to sleep cool and keep you comfortable even during the summer months.
The Casper Original Hybrid also offers great pressure relief thanks to its multiple ergonomic zones. This use of zones ensures there is cushioning for your pressure points, while supporting the proper alignment of your spine. As a medium-firm mattress, the level of comfort and support is right for most Canadians, especially for those who like to sleep on their side or are combination sleepers. However, petite or heavier individuals may find the mattress too firm or soft, respectively.
There is one area where the Casper Original Hybrid does not perform as well as expected: motion isolation. While the foam layers absorb some movement, they are not as effective as in some of the other mattresses included on this list. Because of this, it may not be the best mattress option for couples, especially if one of you wakes up easily when the other person moves.
What’s inside the Casper Original Hybrid?
Like all hybrid mattresses, the Casper Original Hybrid combines foam and coils to offer contouring and support. However, unlike most other hybrids which have zoned support, the Casper Original Hybrid has ergonomic zones in the foam layer rather than the coil layer. This Casper mattress is 11 inches high with a 5-inch comfort layer.
- Breathable Knit Cover. The Casper Original Hybrid has a soft, breathable knit cover to enhance airflow and maintain a cool sleeping surface. The cover is stretchy and durable, ensuring seamless movements with the mattress while helping to wick away moisture.
- AirScape™ Comfort Foam Layer. The first comfort layer is made with Casper’s proprietary AirScape™ foam, which is perforated to promote airflow and prevent heat buildup. This responsive foam provides contouring, adapting to the body’s curves while still offering some bounce.
- Zoned Support™ Transition Layer. Beneath the comfort foam is the Zoned Support™ layer, which supports spinal alignment. This layer is firmer in the centre to support the lower back and softer around the shoulders for better pressure relief. This zoning helps maintain a natural sleeping posture and is particularly beneficial for side and back sleepers.
- Flex Coil Layer. The core of this hybrid mattress is made up of individually wrapped flex coils to offer enhanced support and durability. These coils provide responsive pressure relief and allow for better airflow, contributing to how well the mattress regulates temperature.
- Reinforced Edges. The Casper Original Hybrid has such strong edge support thanks to in-built edge support at the top and bottom. The cover has a firm border sewn into it, while the layer of flex coils is encased in firm support foam.
Test it out at home for 100 nights
Casper offers a 100-night sleep trial on their hybrid mattresses, such as they do on their all-foam mattresses. It is always good to have peace of mind when investing in a new mattress, but especially good when the mattress comes with a higher price tag.
When you buy a Casper Original Hybrid, your at-home trial starts once the mattress is delivered. You can then request to return it for a full refund after the minimum adjustment period and before the 100 nights are up.

Engineered Sleep: The Simba 5000 Pro Flex Mattress

Elevated sleep experience with Simba 5000
The Simba Hybrid 5000 Pro Flex Mattress is a premium mattress designed to deliver exceptional comfort, support, and responsiveness. One of its standout features is its advanced motion isolation, which is extremely close to perfection. Thanks to its layers of Aerocoil® micro-springs and high-density foam, this mattress effectively absorbs motion, making it an excellent choice for even the lightest sleepers and couples.
Temperature regulation is another area where the Simba 5000 performs well. The mattress incorporates breathable materials and open-cell foam to promote airflow and help disperse heat. The combination of graphite-infused foam and a moisture-wicking wool layer improves cooling, ensuring a comfortable sleeping experience even for those Canadians who often sweat at night.
For sleepers who need pressure relief, the mattress offers a well-balanced feel that adapts to different body types and sleeping positions. Its seven-layered design provides contouring while maintaining correct spinal alignment, thus reducing discomfort in key pressure points. This makes the Simba 5000 especially suitable for side sleepers who need extra cushioning and support in the shoulder and hip areas.
The Simba Hybrid 5000 also offers plenty of edge support. Unlike many all-foam mattresses that feel unstable at the edges, Simba’s design reinforces its perimeter with pocket springs and supportive foam layers. This means you can sit or sleep near the edge of the mattress without feeling like you might roll off and maximise the usable surface area of the mattress.
Finally, the Simba 5000 offers a great balance of responsiveness and stability, which makes it an ideal choice for combination sleepers. While this is one of the most expensive options featured on our list, its high-quality materials and performance will make it a worthwhile investment for Canadians looking for an elevated sleeping experience.
What’s inside the Simba 5000 Pro Flex Mattress?
The Simba Hybrid 5000 Pro Flex Mattress is made with seven layers of high-quality materials. At 15 inches high, it is one of the thicker options. This makes it a great choice for Canadians who like a taller bed. However, it may make it harder for petite persons to get in and out of bed, especially if combined with a tall bedframe.
- Breathable surface layer. The top layer is a breathable, moisture-wicking cover that enhances airflow and keeps sleepers cool throughout the night. Made from soft, premium materials, it is engineered to regulate temperature and provide a luxurious feel.
- Natural wool comfort layer. Directly beneath the cover is a layer of natural wool offering additional temperature regulation and moisture control. Wool naturally adapts to its environment and helps keep sleepers warm in winter and cool in summer.
- Open-cell graphite-infused foam. Next is a layer of open-cell Simbatex® foam infused with graphite to provide superior cooling properties. This advanced foam improves airflow and draws heat away from the body, helping to prevent overheating, while also delivering gentle contouring for improved comfort and pressure relief.
- Dual Aerocoil® spring layers. The Simba 5000 features two layers of Aerocoil® micro-springs that flex individually to offer adaptive support. These layers provide added pressure relief by distributing weight evenly and reducing strain on pressure points such as hips and shoulders.
- Responsive latex layers. Between the Aerocoil® springs we have a layer of latex that offers enhanced elasticity and bounce. This layer ensures a responsive feel, makes movement easier, and improves overall comfort.
- High-density support foam. Below the springs is a sturdy layer of high-density foam designed to provide deep support and maintain the structure of the mattress. This layer supports proper spinal alignment, making the mattress well-suited for various sleeping positions.
- Zoned pocket spring base. Finally there is the zoned pocket spring base with firmer coils in areas that need stronger support, such as the lower back and hips. This system reinforces the edge and prevents sagging. It also works with the upper layers to create a balance of comfort, stability, and breathability.
Try the elevated sleep experience at home
Some readers may be disappointed to notice that the Simba mattress only comes with a 100-night sleep trial. While some companies allow a full year for the trial, 100 nights does feel short in comparison. However, it is long enough to know whether the Simba 5000 meets your high expectations.
Should the mattress not be right for you, contact Simba before the trial period is over to notify them. You will then be able to exchange it for another mattress from Sleep Country. They have more than 50 mattresses to choose from and will deliver for a small fee.

Affordable Luxury with Hybrid Comfort: The Logan & Cove Choice 🍁

A hybrid mattress for all budgets
The Logan & Cove Choice is a well-balanced hybrid mattress that blends affordability with comfort. This mattress combines cooling foam with responsive coils to offer a supportive yet plush sleeping surface. With a medium-firm feel, it is suitable form a broad range of sleepers, supporting spinal alignment and providing pressure relief without excessive sinkage.
One of the key features of this mattress is its cooling technology, which helps regulate temperature and prevent overnight sweats. The breathable fabric cover also improves airflow by ensuring that heat does not get trapped within the layers. Unlike traditional memory foam mattresses that often sleep hot, the Logan & Cove Choice actively disperses warm air, making it a suitable choice for hot sleepers.
The Logan & Cove Choice mattress also offers good motion isolation, even if it does not score as high in this area as some of our other choices. The pocket coils have been wrapped individually to prevent motion transfer and the foam layers help to absorb even more of the vibrations caused by movement. Unless you are a very light sleeper, you are likely to be happy with the level of motion isolation this mattress offers.
The various layers of the Choice mattress help to distribute your body weight evenly, which reduces pressure points on key areas, including your shoulders and hips. While the Choice is a medium-firm mattress, it is edging towards the firm rating, meaning it may not offer enough pressure relief for lighter sleepers. If you require a softer mattress but like the brand, you might like to consider the Frontier or Pinnacle mattress instead.
The final performance-related feature to consider is edge support. The Choice has a reinforced perimeter to maximise the usable surface. The strong coil base of the mattress provides stability and prevents the edge from sagging even if you like to sleep on the edge. The stronger edge also helps with getting in and out of the bed.
What’s inside the Logan & Cove Choice?
The Logan & Cove Choice mattress is 12” thick and includes a 2” thick comfort layer on top of a layer of pocketed coils. It is the firmest hybrid mattress Logan & Cove offers and suits most sleeping styles and body types.
- Quilted top cover. The cover features CryoFusion Nanofibres that have been woven into the fabric. These fibres help to wick away heat and moisture. The top section includes a layer of quilted foam and fibre fill, which add a plush feel while maintaining breathability.
- ecoLuxe® Cooling Gel Foam. The first comfort layer is made with ecoLuxe cooling gel foam, engineered to regulate temperature and prevent overheating. It also provides contouring, offering relief to pressure points.
- Premium Elastex® Foam. Below the cooling layer is the second comfort layer. It uses Elastex foam that mimics natural latex, adding a bit more bounce to the mattress. It also provides cushioning to enhance comfort whilst ensuring ease of movement.
- Pocketed coils with reinforced edge support. At the base of the mattress is a layer of pocketed coils. They are arranged in five ergonomic zones for targeted support. The perimeter of the layer has stronger coils to make the edge stronger and prevent sinkage.
More time to consider with a year-long sleep trial
The sleep trial offered for the Logan & Cove Choice is the same as its other mattress we reviewed earlier; 365 days. During this time, you can use the mattress as normal at home to see how well it caters for your sleeping preferences. If you find that the mattress is not right for you, for example, if it is too soft or firm, simply contact the company to arrange your return and refund.

Casper's Premium Mattress with Advanced Technologies: the Casper Wave Hybrid 🍁

Advanced cooling technologies to keep you comfortable
The Casper Wave Hybrid is a premium mattress designed for those looking for a mattress that offers the perfect balance of comfort, support, and cooling technologies. Engineered with layers of high-quality foam and pocketed coils, the Wave Hybrid provides a luxurious sleeping experience.
The mattress’s zoned construction ensures optimal spinal alignment, which makes it potentially beneficial for Canadians suffering from back pain or joint discomfort. By combining innovative materials and expert craftsmanship, Casper has succeeded in creating a mattress that caters to a wide range of sleep preferences.
While the Casper Wave Hybrid is an expensive mattress, it proves its worth by scoring extremely highly in all performance categories. It incorporates multiple cooling technologies that ensure good airflow and that heat is effectively dispersed. This mattress is an excellent choice for hot sleepers or anyone living in a part of Canada that experiences hot or humid summers.
Support and pressure relief are also key components of the Casper Wave’s design. The mattress has multiple layers of support foam, which cradle the body and reduce pressure points. It has a zoned support system, which ensures that areas like the shoulders and hips receive softer cushioning, while firmer foam is used in the lumbar region to help maintain spinal alignment.
In addition, the Casper Wave Hybrid offers excellent motion isolation. The individually wrapped coils together with the foam layers reduce motion transfer, meaning that movement on one side of the bed is very unlikely to disturb a sleeping partner. This makes it particularly appealing for couples or light sleepers who are easily woken up. Meanwhile, the mattress’s reinforced edge ensures that it remains stable and prevents sagging, thus allowing you to use the full sleep surface.
What’s inside the Casper Wave Hybrid?
The Casper Wave Hybrid is a 14 inches thick mattress that contains multiple layers of foam on top of individually pocketed coils to maximise comfort and support. Many of the layers incorporate cooling technologies and zoned support to help you stay comfortable all through the night and wake up rested and fresh.
- QuickCool™ Cover. This is a specialised fabric designed to enhance temperature regulation. It is infused with cooling materials that pull heat away from the body and its breathable construction further promotes airflow and prevents heat from becoming trapped within the mattress.
- Casper Signature Foam™ with Airscape® Technology and Phase Change Material. This layer plays a crucial role in maintaining a consistent temperature while you sleep. The open-cell structure of the foam allows for better airflow, while the Phase Change Material absorbs and disperses excess body heat.
- Premium Foam with AirScape Technology. The next layer provides additional contouring and breathability. It works to cushion the body while also increasing airflow through perforations in the foam. It helps maintain a balance between pressure relief and support and adapts to the sleeper’s movements.
- Engineered Latex with Zoned Support™ and AirScape® Technology. The Engineered Latex layer incorporates both Zoned Support™ and AirScape® Technology, thus providing both responsiveness and targeted support. The latex offers a slight bounce, which makes it easier to move around, while the Zoned Support™ ensures that different areas of the body receive the right level of support or contouring.
- Align Foam with Gel Support Pods & Zoned Support™. Further down, the Align Foam layer includes Gel Support Pods and further Zoned Support™ to enhance spinal alignment and relieve pressure points. This layer is designed to maintain comfort and support for various sleeping positions.
- Flex coils. At the base of the Casper Wave Hybrid is a layer of Flex Coils providing the mattress with durability, stability, and additional responsiveness. These individually wrapped coils reduce motion transfer and adapt to body weight and movement. The coil system also improves edge support, preventing sagging so the mattress remains structurally sound.
Casper’s signature 100-night sleep trial
The Wave Hybrid mattress from Casper comes with the same 100-night sleep trial as their other mattresses. When buying a new mattress it is always comforting to know you can return it if it does not meet your expectations, but especially so when the price is as high as for the Wave Hybrid.
Customers need to remember to initiate their return within the 100-night trial period to qualify for a full refund. If you go over the trial period, you may still be able to return or exchange your mattress if it has an issue covered under warranty.

Simba's Medium-Plush Hybrid Option: The Simba 2500 Mattress

Cloud-like plush comfort from Simba
The Simba 2500 hybrid mattress is a medium-plush offering from the mattress company. It offers a more cloud-like experience than its firmer counterparts, while still providing enough support to keep the spine in its natural alignment. As a medium-plush mattress, the Simba is better suited for side sleepers and lighter back sleepers than those who prefer to sleep on their stomach.
This mattress is a good option for Canadians who need effective cooling technologies. The Simba 2500 uses breathable materials and graphite with open-cell technology to ensure that hot air does not get trapped in the mattress but is released and replaced with cooler air. This supports a comfortable body temperature while you sleep and prevents overheating.
The Simba 2500 also performs well in the pressure relief performance category. The combination of layers and foam means that your spine is supported while the mattress contours your body’s natural curves to prevent pressure points from forming. Since this is a medium-plush mattress, some Canadians, especially heavier individuals, may find that they sink too much into the mattress and should consider a firmer option.
If you are someone who needs a strong edge on your mattress or you get easily disturbed when someone else moves on the mattress, you may find that the Simba 2500 doesn’t fully offer what you need. While the edge is stronger than on many full-foam mattresses, you may find that the edge is not supportive enough if you like to sleep on the edge or need a strong edge to aid in getting in and out of bed.
The same applies to motion isolation. While it is good and would meet the requirements of many Canadians, it may not be enough for people who sleep lightly or share a bed with a restless sleeper. Luckily, if you are not sure the mattress will meet your requirements, you can take advantage of Simba’s sleep trial.
What’s inside the Simba 2500?
The Simba 2500 Hybrid Mattress is a thinner mattress than the Simba 5000 but still offers plenty of support and contouring to meet the needs of most Canadians. It uses innovative cooling technologies and zoned support systems to help you sleep more comfortably.
- Breathable Sleep Surface. The Simba 2500 Hybrid Mattress comes with a breathable sleep surface that has been designed to enhance airflow and regulate temperature. This top layer allows heat to dissipate effectively and prevents overheating during the night.
- Open cell graphite-infused Simbatex. The top layer is made with open cell Simbatex. This innovative foam incorporates particles of graphite to conduct heat away from the body, thus helping with temperature regulation. The open-cell structure promotes airflow and enhances breathability.
- Aerocoil® Spring-Comfort layer. This layer consists of up to 2,500 patented titanium alloy micro-springs that are designed to adapt to your movements and offer tailored support and pressure relief. They work independently from each other to contour to your shape.
- Edge to edge Simba-Pure support. This layer provides consistent support across the mattress, prevents sagging, and maintains structural integrity. It ensures that you are equally comfortable and supported, whether you are sleeping in the center or near the edges of the mattress.
- Zoned Simba-Pure base. At the base of the mattress is the Zoned Simba-Pure Base, which has been engineered to offer targeted support to different areas of the body. It promotes proper spinal alignment and improves overall sleep quality by providing the right level of support where it is needed.
Experience the Simba 2500 with a 100-night sleep trial
Since mattress companies like Simba understand that buying a new mattress can be a daunting experience with so much choice available, they allow you to experience the mattress in your home environment for 100 nights. If you decide that the mattress does not work for you before the 100 nights are up, you can return the mattress and exchange it for another from the Sleep County collection that includes over 50 mattresses.

Simplified Hybrid Comfort: The Casper Atlas Hybrid 🍁

A budget-friendly hybrid option from Casper
The Casper Atlas is another hybrid mattress from Casper. It has a simpler design and is the most budget-friendly of the hybrids they offer. This is reflected in the mattress’s performance scores. It is still a good mattress, made using Casper’s signature foam and flex coils, and will keep many Canadians happy and comfortable in bed.
While the more expensive Casper hybrid mattresses incorporate cooling technologies to improve their temperature regulating properties, the Casper Atlas relies mainly on the coil layer to keep air flowing. While this means it has better airflow than standard full-foam mattresses, it cannot compete in temperature regulation with hybrid or full-foam mattresses that incorporate more advanced cooling technologies.
The Casper Atlas offers good pressure relief for Canadians who like to sleep on their side, back, or are combination sleepers. It is at the firmer end of medium-firm mattress scale, so is likely to work well for some stomach sleepers, too. The combination of Casper’s signature foam with transition foam and coils offers both contouring and support to help you stay comfortable throughout the night.
When looking at edge support, the Casper Atlas incorporates edge to edge coils and ProSupport foam to improve the strength of the edge and prevent sagging. As a result, the mattress has better edge support than average full-foam mattresses, but not as strong as mattresses that come with reinforced edges. Because of this, you may find yourself feeling that you could roll off the bed if you sleep right on the edge, especially if you are a heavier individual.
Finally, we need to look at motion isolation, and once more, the Atlas does not perform as well as many of its competitors. While the three-inch comfort layer and the pocketed coils reduce motion transfer, they do not absorb as much as mattresses with thicker comfort layers. If you share your bed or are a light sleeper, the motion isolation offered by the Atlas mattress might not quite meet your needs.
What’s inside the Casper Atlas Hybrid?
The Atlas Hybrid from Casper is a ten inches thick mattress that includes a three inches thick comfort layer. The foam layers are designed to offer comfort and contouring, while the spring base adds support for your spine.
- Cozy knit cover. The Casper Atlas Hybrid mattress comes with a knitted cover to create a soft and breathable sleeping surface. It is also designed to stretch with the mattress so you can fully experience the comfort the mattress has to offer.
- Casper Signature foam. The top layer of the Casper Atlas mattress is made with Casper’s signature foam. It is designed to offer a soothing sleeping surface with just the right amount of bounce to make moving in bed easier and prevent you from feeling like you are stuck to the bed.
- Premium transition foam. Below the signature foam layer is another foam layer. This is transition foam that acts as a barrier between the top foam layer and the coils. It also offers pressure relief and can help reduce pain in the hips, shoulders, and back.
- Flex coils. Under the two layers of foam is the coil core. It is made with individually pocketed 100% steel Flex Coils. They are designed to reduce motion transfer and support the correct alignment of your spine.
- ProSupport Foam. The final layer of the Casper Atlas Hybrid is made with ProSupport Foam. This is firmer foam than those used above the coils. It is used to prevent sagging and to ensure a comfortable sleep for years to come.
Casper’s standard 100-night sleep trial
By now we have already looked at a few mattresses from Casper, so we know what to expect from their at-home sleep trial. As a reminder, you get to try it at home for 100 nights and if you are not happy, Casper will arrange for the mattress to be collected and you to receive a full refund.

Luxury Hybrid Comfort with Premium Support: Logan & Cove Pinnacle 🍁

Logan & Cove’s premium hybrid mattress
The Logan & Cove Pinnacle is the company’s top-end mattress and offers a luxurious sleep experience, blending the best of foam and innerspring technologies. Designed for those who are looking for a high-end hybrid mattress, the Pinnacle promises a balance of comfort, support, and durability, yet is a budget-friendlier luxury mattress than some other high-end hybrid on our list.
With a focus on advanced sleep technologies, the Pinnacle is ideal for Canadians who prioritise pressure relief, temperature regulation, and long-lasting quality. Whether you prefer to sleep on your back, side, or stomach, the Pinnacle caters to a wide range of preferences with its carefully thought out construction. It is rated as 6.5 on the firmness scale out of then, which makes it suitable for the majority of Canadians. However, petite sleepers who prefer to lie on their side may find it too firm.
If you are looking for a mattress that helps you sleep cooler, the Pinnacle is definitely worth considering. It combines various cooling technologies, including a breathable cover and pocketed coil system, to promote airflow and help to regulate body temperature. Its cooling properties are enhanced by a layer of gel-infused foam that wicks away moisture and reduces heat retention.
Motion isolation is another performance area where the Pinnacle shines, which makes it a great option for couples. The individually wrapped pocketed coils absorb movement, so you’re less likely to be disturbed by your partner moving about at night. This is further supported by the foam layers, which reduce motion transfer and improve overall comfort.
For Canadians who prioritise edge support, the Pinnacle offers a solid, strong edge, which makes it easy to get in and out of bed. A strong edge is also a beneficial feature for people who like to sleep on the edge as it will prevent the edge from sagging under the body weight. The Pinnacle also offers great pressure relief thanks to its two layers of foam combined with two layers of micro coils on top of the spring base.
What’s inside the Logan & Cove Pinnacle?
At 15 inches, the Logan & Cove Pinnacle is one of the tallest mattresses around, making it a great choice for Canadians who like a higher mattress. It is a medium-firm mattress, yet manages to offer a plush feel for a luxurious and comfortable sleeping experience.
- Quilted Euro-top cover. The Pinnacle has a Euro-top cover that uses diamond stitching to make it plush and cloud-like. It incorporates cooling gel foam CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres, and hollow-fibre fill to create a breathable and cool sleeping surface.
- ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam. The first layer of the Pinnacle is made with foam that uses cooling gel to ensure a cooler, more pleasant sleeping surface. The foam is designed to conform to shoulders, hips, and knees, whatever your preferred sleeping position.
- Aeroduct micro coils. Next is a layer of micro coils, designed to offer support and precise contouring. The coils adapt to your body shape and cradle you for optimum comfort and personalised sleeping experience.
- Premium Elastex® foam. The second layer of foam is made with Elastex® foam that offers bounce and cushioning. It is a resilient foam which is perfect for offering pressure relief while maintaining support so you can sleep in comfort and wake up refreshed.
- Aeroduct micro coils. For additional comfort and support, the Pinnacle includes another layer of micro coils. This layer adds further contouring and cooling properties and acts as a barrier between the final layer of foam and the coils.
- Pocketed coils with reinforced edge support. The foundation of the Pinnacle mattress includes its steel coils. They are arranged in three zones and made with multi-tempered steel. The coils are surrounded by firm foam to reinforce the mattress’s perimeter.
Logan & Cove’s industry-leading sleep trial
Since we have already looked at mattresses from Logan & Cove, we will not go into full details of their sleep trial. Just as a reminder, they offer a full year’s sleep trial and you can ask to return the mattress once the minimum adjustment period has passed and before the trial finishes up to and including the 365th day of the trial. Best Organic Mattresses in Canada
The final group of mattresses in our list of best mattresses for 2025 includes a selection of organic mattresses. These are generally hybrid mattresses, made with all-natural materials, such as latex instead of manmade foams. They offer environmentally friendly mattress options for eco-conscious Canadians.
Editor's Choice: Silk & Snow Organic Mattress 🍁
The Silk & Snow Organic Mattress is a great choice for anyone looking for a more eco-friendly mattress. Not only is it a very reasonably priced organic mattress, it also performs extremely well, delivering both comfort and support and helping you maintain a more comfortable body temperature while you sleep.
The organic mattress from Silk & Snow has been designed with certified organic materials and thus offers a natural and chemical-free alternative to traditional mattresses. The combination of organic latex, wool, and cotton creates a surface that is both breathable and supportive and adapts to different sleeping positions. Silk & Snow’s high-quality materials ensure durability while providing you with a mattress free from harmful toxins.
A standout feature of the Silk & Snow Organic Mattress is the organic latex, which provides a slightly bouncy yet cushioning feel. Latex is naturally breathable, which helps to regulate body temperature and prevent overheating while sleeping. Latex is also known for its resilience, maintaining its shape without sagging. Unlike memory foams, organic latex maintains its integrity over time while still contouring to the body for pressure relief.
As well as offering good pressure relief and temperature regulation, this mattress also performs well in terms of motion isolation. While latex does have more bounce than memory foam, the layers used in the Silk & Snow Organic Mattress combined with the individually pocketed springs effectively prevent vibrations from movement travelling across the mattress, which makes it a suitable choice for both individuals and couples.
This organic mattress also offers plenty of support both in terms of spinal alignment and edge support. It features zoned support to ensure your body is correctly supported with firmer coils used where more support is needed. It also incorporates firm edge support to prevent the edges of the mattress from sagging even if you often sleep or sit on the edge of the bed. This firm edge can also provide support when getting in and out of bed, which is an important feature for anyone with mobility issues. Overall, the Silk & Snow Organic Mattress is a great mattress in terms of eco-friendliness, budget, and performance features.
What’s inside the S&S Organic Mattress?
The organic mattress from Silk & Snow is a hybrid mattress that has replaced manmade foam layers with latex. It comes with three different firmness levels from plush to firm to accommodate a wide range of body types and sleeping positions. The firm version is 10”, medium-firm 12” and plush 14” thick. The details below refer to the medium-firm options since this is the most common choice among Canadians.
- GOTS-certified organic cotton cover. The cover, which is 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, is soft, breathable, and free from synthetic chemicals and pesticides. Organic cotton is great for enhancing airflow and keeping the surface cool and comfortable throughout the night. It is also naturally hypoallergenic and moisture-wicking.
- GOTS-certified organic wool quilt layer. Under the cover is a layer of organic wool. This layer wicks away moisture and helps to regulate temperature to keep sleepers at a comfortable temperature. It also acts as a natural fire barrier, so there is no need for chemical flame retardants.
- Quilted latex layer. This layer is made with GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex, which is known for its responsive and supportive qualities. It contours to the body while maintaining some bounce, preventing the “stuck” feeling often associated with memory foam mattresses. Latex is highly durable, resists sagging, and promotes better spinal alignment.
- GOLS-certified latex layer. Next, there is a layer of organic Dunlop latex, which enhances the mattress’s durability and stability. This layer adds further support and contouring, while adding another barrier between you and the coil base.
- Pocket coil base. The base of this organic mattress features pocketed coils, arranged in ergonomic zones and designed to provide targeted support where it is needed most. The coils in the centre are firmer, offering enhanced lumbar support, softer where more contouring is needed, and the coils near the edges are reinforced for improved edge support.
Try organic comfort for 365 nights
If you are considering the organic mattress from Silk & Snow, then you might be persuaded by their 365-night sleep trial. Deciding on a mattress is a major decision and Silk & Snow want to take some of the worry away with their sleep trial.
The sleep trial starts when you receive the mattress. If you are not satisfied with it, you can request a return between the end of the adjustment period and the 365th day of the trial. When you request a return, Silk & Snow will arrange for the mattress to be collected, and once taken away, your full refund.
Luxury Handcrafted Comfort: Obasan Organic Mattress 🍁

Customized organic mattress to ensure comfort and support
The Obasan is the most expensive organic mattress on our list, but for a good reason: they are all made by hand to meet your specific sleeping requirements. When you order a mattress from them, you start by choosing a size, the number of sleepers, and then proceed through other steps to determine the best mattress structure for you.
Because the mattress is made to your specifications, you can expect a level of comfort and support that will be hard to match. When it comes to pressure relief, the Obasan mattress does not disappoint. The mattress is tailored to your weight and preferred sleeping position and supports and contours in the right places. This can be very beneficial to anyone suffering from joint or back pain, as having a mattress that supports the correct spinal alignment can ease pain.
The Obasan is also a good choice for Canadians who often sleep hot. Its organic materials are not just eco-friendly but also naturally temperature regulating. The materials actively wick away moisture and because they are breathable, they do not retain heat. Instead, warmer air is released and replaced with cooler air, which helps you keep cool while you sleep.
If you share your bed, you can trust the Obasan Organic mattress to provide excellent motion isolation. When you get an Obasan mattress for two people, each side of the mattress is constructed to meet your requirements. This means that while the two sides join seamlessly together, there is minimal motion transfer between the two sides.
If there is one area where the Obasan does not perform as well as some of the other organic mattresses we have reviewed, it is the edge support it offers. If you regularly sleep on the edge of the bed, you may prefer a mattress with a reinforced edge. However, for most people who have their mind set on an Obasan, a slightly lower rating for edge support is unlikely to be a deal breaker, considering all the other benefits offered by a custom-made mattress.
What’s inside the Obasan Organic?
The Obasan Organic Mattresses are handcrafted in Ottawa and each of them is made to order to ensure your mattress is uniquely yours. With 40 years of experience in making mattresses by hand and using premium quality natural materials, you can trust Obasan to construct a great mattress, tailored for you.
Obasan offers three organic mattress models for adults, the Classic, the Deluxe, and the Grand. The Classic features 8”, the Deluxe 10”, and the Grand 12” of organic latex.
- Organic cotton cover. The cover on the Obasan Organic Mattress is soft and breathable and made from GOTS-certified organic cotton. It helps regulate body temperature and moisture levels, so you have a comfortable, naturally hypoallergenic surface for sleep. It is quilted with organic wool, a natural fire retardant.
- Organic wool. The first comfort layer of the Obasan Organic Classic is organic wool, known for its temperature-regulating properties. It helps wick away moisture and ensures your mattress stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
- Organic latex. Next, the Obasan features a core layer of latex, which is derived from rubber trees. The latex is natural and organic, slightly bouncy and offers a high level of durability and long-lasting comfort. This latex layer is designed to reduce pressure points and can help ease joint and back pain.
180-night comfort exchange
Instead of a sleep trial where you can return your mattress and receive a refund if you are not satisfied with your mattress, Obasan offers a 180-night comfort exchange.
This means that while you cannot return your mattress, you can have it adjusted. If you inform the company within the 180 days, they will adjust the firmness level of your mattress so it delivers the support and comfort you expect.

Designed for Cool Comfort: The Simba Green Hybrid Meadow

Great cooling and motion isolation with Hybrid Meadow
The Simba Green Organic Hybrid Meadow mattress is a medium-firm mattress that is suitable for a wide range of body types and sleeping positions. It offers a good balance of comfort and support by combining the benefits of natural materials with advanced sleep technology. It features natural materials that enhance breathability and comfort whether you prefer to sleep on your back, side, or stomach.
Because the Meadow combines organic materials that have natural cooling properties with a layer of springs, it offers good temperature regulation. Thanks to its breathable layers, the mattress ensures your sleep environment stays cool and comfortable. If you are one of the many Canadians who sleep hot or struggle with night sweats, the Meadow is worth considering when you are looking for your next mattress.
In addition to its cooling properties, the Meadow excels at motion isolation, offering a quiet and undisturbed sleep experience. The comfort layers together with the individually pocketed coils absorb movement and prevent vibrations from travelling between the two sides of the bed. This is especially beneficial for couples, as the mattress effectively absorbs movement and minimises disruption.
One area where the mattress may not meet all users’ expectations is the Meadow’s edge support. While it will be strong enough for most Canadians, it may not perform as well as expected for heavier sleepers who frequently sit or sleep near the edge. However, this issue is not a major concern for most people, especially when we consider the overall support provided by the hybrid construction. Back and side sleepers, in particular, will appreciate the Meadow’s ability to maintain proper alignment and relieve pressure.
The Simba Meadow is versatile enough to accommodate a variety of sleeping needs. While petite sleepers may prefer a softer mattress and heavier individuals a firmer one, the medium-firm feel will offer sufficient pressure relief and support for most Canadians. The Meadow is a great option for many Canadians looking for a supportive and eco-friendly hybrid mattress.
What’s inside the Simba Green Hybrid Meadow?
The Meadow mattress by Simba cleverly combines natural materials with pocketed springs to create a mattress that offers effective cooling properties, pressure relief, and motion isolation. This 12” tall mattress is the middle-of-the-range mattress in Simba’s green mattress range, sitting between the Rush and the Wildflower mattresses.
- Organic cotton cover. The cover, made with organic cotton, enhances airflow and provides a soft, comfortable surface. It is designed to improve temperature regulation, with the bottom featuring a 3D mesh border made with recycled water bottles.
- SimbaTex foam. The first layer of the mattress is made of SimbaTex, which is a proprietary foam that enhances comfort and temperature control. Infused with graphite, this layer facilitates better airflow than traditional memory foams.
- Dual Aerocoil springs. The next layer is actually two layers made with Aerocoil micro-coils, designed to improve airflow and provide optimal support. These flexible coils improve pressure relief and body contouring, providing targeted support for key areas of the body.
- Natural Talalay latex. Next comes a layer of natural Talalay latex to provide extra pressure relief and breathability. Talalay latex helps cushion deeper pressure points, thus ensuring comfort in various sleeping positions.
- SupportCore pocket coils. This base layer is made using up to 1,000 pocketed coils. They are arranged into five comfort zones to provide firmer support in the lower back region and softer support for the pressure-prone areas. The base layer is further supported by a spring encapsulation support layer to optimise edge support.

Sustainable Sleep Solution: The GhostBed Natural Mattress

Great for couples and people who sleep hot
The GhostBed Natural Mattress blends organic materials with a spring base to provide a restful, comfortable sleeping surface for you. Featuring natural latex, wool, and cotton, this mattress is made for those who prioritise sustainability without compromising on comfort. The use of organic materials ensures you have a hypoallergenic, breathable sleep surface that helps regulate temperature while providing necessary support.
One of the standout performance features of the GhostBed Natural is its temperature regulating properties. This has been achieved by using a breathable cover, organic wool, latex, and springs. Organic cotton, organic wool, and organic latex are all naturally cooling and moisture-wicking, while late. Their cooling properties are enhanced by the springs, which ensure good air flow from top to bottom.
If you are looking for an organic mattress that reduces pressure points while supporting your spine, the GhostBed Natural is worth considering. The natural latex provides bounce and support, but also offers enough sinkage to prevent pressure points. It contours to your body while maintaining a firm support base for your spine, which is especially ideal for side and back sleepers.
The GhostBed Natural also performs well in terms of motion isolation. The individually wrapped coils work together with the latex layer to reduce motion transfer, ensuring undisturbed sleep even for couples and light sleepers. The mattress also has reinforced edges to prevent sagging. However, some users may not find them sturdy enough, especially if they like to sleep on the edge of the bed.
This Natural mattress from GhostBed caters to a variety of sleepers by offering motion isolation, cooling properties, balanced support, and pressure relief. Whether you prefer to sleep on your back, side, or stomach, the GhostBed Natural can adapt to your body shape. It’s a sustainable choice for those Canadians looking for a healthy and supportive sleep surface.
What’s inside the GhostBed Natural Mattress?
The Natural mattress, designed and made by GhostBed uses organic materials on top of the innerspring foundation, resulting in a mattress that provides you with a healthier, more environmentally friendly sleeping surface. It also, very importantly, offers comfort and support to help you catch a good night’s sleep.
- Organic cotton cover. The top layer of the GhostBed Natural Mattress features an organic cotton cover that is soft, breathable, and wicks moisture away from the body. It ensures a cool sleep environment and provides comfort throughout the night.
- Organic wool layer. Below the cotton cover is an organic wool layer that naturally regulates temperature and helps keep you warm during colder nights and cool during warmer ones. It also acts as a natural fire retardant, adding a safety feature without the use of harmful chemicals.
- Natural latex layer. This GhostBed mattress incorporates a layer of natural latex, which is known to be resilient and responsive. It provides a bounce that improves support while helping to reduce pressure points, thus ensuring your spine remains well-aligned while you sleep.
- Individually wrapped coils. Beneath the layer of latex, the mattress has a layer of individually wrapped coils. These coils work independently from each other to offer customised support. They also contour the body while minimising motion transfer for undisturbed sleep.
- Dunlop latex base. At the base of the mattress is a final layer of Dunlop latex. Its purpose is to provide additional support and to improve the mattress’s durability.
101 nights to make up your mind
The GhostBed Natural Mattress comes with a 101-night sleep trial, allowing you to experience the mattress in the comfort of your own home. During this trial period, if the mattress isn’t suitable, you can ask for a return or exchange.
GhostBed asks you to give the mattress time to settle and your body to adjust before you decide how well the mattress meets your sleep needs. If you are certain that it is not the right fit for you, contact the company to start the return process by the last day of the trial.

Fully Vegan Comfort: Essentia Stratami 🍁

A luxurious vegan mattress
The Essentia Stratami mattress combines organic cotton with organic latex to provide a luxurious, vegan sleeping experience. It has been designed for Canadians looking for a mattress that is both comfortable and eco-friendly. This high-performance mattress aims to provide optimal support and comfort for all sleepers while being extra mindful of the environment.
Made with a natural organic latex core, the Stratami mattress provides a responsive, slightly bouncy feel while ensuring durability and breathability. This latex layer helps to distribute body weight evenly and promotes proper spinal alignment, thus making it ideal for back and side sleepers. The organic latex is also naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites, which makes it a great choice for people with sensitivities.
The Stratami also alleviates pressure points, which can help you get a more restful sleep. While the mattress is suitable for all sleeping positions, side sleepers in particular will benefit from the Stratami’s ability to prevent pressure points, especially around your hips and shoulders.
While many mattresses on our list could be classed as cooling mattresses, the Stratami is different. Instead, it has been designed to be temperature-neutral. This means that it does not actively cool the sleeping surface, but neither does it sleep hot. Although this will suit many Canadians, if you often sleep hot and need a mattress with active cooling technologies, the Stratami is unlikely to meet your needs.
The Stratami may not suit hot sleepers, but it is a worthwhile option for couples. When you share your bed, motion isolation becomes one of the key performance features you want to focus on, especially if your sleep is regularly disturbed by your partner moving. The latex layers in the Stratami mattress effectively absorb vibrations so you are less likely to feel when your partner moves during the night.
What’s inside the Essentia Stratami?
The Essentia Stratami is a fully vegan mattress, so you will find no animal products in this mattress. Neither will you find polyurethane foam, springs, fiber batting, or latex proteins. All the materials used in the mattress have been thoroughly tested by the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine to ensure their safety.
- GOTS Certified organic cotton cover. The Stratami mattress comes with an organic cotton cover which is a naturally soft and temperature-regulating material. The cover can be removed and washed to keep it hygienic and fresh.
- Bucaneve organic cotton liner. Between the cover and the first layer of latex is a liner made from cotton. This liner is nontoxic and allergy-free and enhances the breathability of the top part of the mattress.
- GOLS Certified organic latex support core. This is the first layer of organic latex in the Stratami mattress. It is designed to ensure proper support for your back and promote correct spinal alignment.
- Dome-shaped active organic latex foam. The next layer is also organic latex, but shaped like a dome. This design ensures there is airflow between the surface of the mattress and your body. It also helps to eliminate pressure points.
Try your vegan mattress at home for 120 nights
The Essentia Stratami mattress comes with a 120 night sleep trial. During this time you can use the mattress at home as normal to see how well it meets your expectations. Your sleep trial starts from the day the mattress is delivered.
If you are not happy with the Essentia Stratami, you can return it after the adjustment period is over, which for Essentia is 30 days, and by the 120th day of the trial. Simply contact Essentia who will then arrange a company to pick up your mattress and process your refund.

Responsive and Supportive: The Avocado Green Mattress

Choose your firmness level with Avocado Green
The Avocado Green Organic Mattress is known for its eco-friendly materials and high-scoring performance across various sleep quality measurements. This mattress is made with 100% organic materials, including latex, wool, and cotton, which are then combined with a support system of individually wrapped coils. As a result, the Avocado Green is suitable for various sleeping styles and body types.
The Avocado Green Mattress has excellent temperature regulation thanks to the combination of natural materials and coils. The organic latex, cotton and wool components are naturally breathable, thus facilitating effective airflow throughout the mattress. These materials effectively dissipate heat, so that you have a cooler sleeping environment, an especially important mattress quality for Canadians who sleep or live in areas with hot summers.
In terms of pressure relief, natural latex provides gentle contouring, which helps to distribute body weight evenly and prevent pressure points. The contouring offered by the latex layer is enough for most Canadians to sleep comfortably without aches and pains. However, side sleepers, in particular petite individuals, might find the mattress too firm, which can lead to inadequate cushioning for the shoulders and hips. Luckily, the Avocado Green comes in two firmness options, so those who need a softer surface can opt for the plush version.
Another area where the mattress performs well is offering edge support. Thanks to its strong edge, there is minimal sinkage when sitting or sleeping near the edges. Instead, the mattress has a stable feel across the entire surface. This feature is particularly useful for couples as it maximises the usable sleeping area.
However, some couples may avoid the Avocado Green because its lower score for motion isolation. If you are someone who is easily disturbed by your partner moving in bed, the Avocado Green may not be the best mattress option for you. On the other hand, the combination of latex and springs creates a responsive surface that makes changing positions easier. So if you are a combination sleeper who changes position often and not too concerned about motion transfer, then the Avocado Green could be a great choice for you.
What’s inside the Avocado Green?
The Avocado Green Mattress is a hybrid mattress made with 100% organic materials on top and an innerspring base at the bottom. It comes in two firmness levels: standard and pillow top. While the standard mattress is recommended for stomach and back sleepers, the pillow top is ideal for side and combination sleepers and some back sleepers, depending on their weight.
- Organic cotton cover. The cover of this mattress is breathable organic cotton. It is soft under the skin and provides a comfortable sleeping surface, while also contributing to the mattress’s breathability. The organic cotton is GOTS-certified, meaning it has been grown without harmful chemicals or pesticides.
- Organic latex layer. The top layer is 100% organic latex, which creates a naturally resilient and supportive sleep surface. This latex comes from organic rubber trees and contains no synthetic chemicals. It is both comfortable and supportive, contouring the body while offering a bouncy and responsive sleeping surface.
- Organic wool layer. Under the layer of latex is a plush, natural layer of organic wool. All wool used by Avocado comes from sheep that are raised in a humane and sustainable manner. The wool acts as a natural fire barrier, which is essential for meeting fire safety standards without using harmful chemicals. Organic wool is also naturally moisture-wicking and temperature-regulating, helping you maintain a comfortable body temperature.
- Pocketed coil support core. The core of the Avocado Green Mattress has up to 1,414 individually pocketed coils that have been made from recycled steel. The coils offer support and stability and help to align your spine so you can wake up without aches and pains caused by an ill-fitting mattress. In addition, the pocketed coil system promotes airflow and helps with temperature regulation.
- Reinforced edge support (optional with pillow-top). If you opt for the pillow-top version of the mattress, you can have an additional layer of latex added to improve the mattress’s edge support. This additional support prevents the edges from sagging and helps to maximise the usable surface; an important consideration if you like to sleep on the edge of the mattress.
Avocado’s year-long sleep trial gives you plenty of time
Avocado offers a 365-night sleep trial for their mattresses, allowing customers to test their new mattress in the comfort of their own home. This extended sleep trial means you can see how well the mattress suits you from warm nights in the summer to cold ones in the winter.
The first day of the trial is the day you receive the mattress. You then have up to the last day of the trial to decide. Note that Avocado asks you to use the mattress for at least a month before requesting a return so your body has had enough time to adjust to your new sleeping surface. If you decide the Avocado Green Mattress is not right for you, you can return it and receive a refund or change it to another Avocado mattress.

Simba's Premium Green Mattress: Simba Green Hybrid Wildflower

Plush comfort with excellent cooling effect
The Simba Green Hybrid Wildflower Mattress is the premium eco-friendly hybrid mattress from Simba. It has been designed with sustainability and your comfort in mind. The mattress combines the benefits of latex with a spring core to deliver a balanced sleep experience. Its design addresses key performance factors such as temperature regulation, motion isolation, pressure relief, and edge support.
Anyone who suffers from night sweats or often sleeps hot can benefit from choosing a mattress such as the Wildflower from Simba. Its different layers and cooling technologies effectively maintain a comfortable temperature so you can sleep more comfortably. There is plenty of internal ventilation to ensure hot air is released and replaced with cooler air to help you sleep cool even during hot summer months.
In terms of motion isolation, this mattress performs reasonably well. The individually pocketed springs are designed to respond independently to pressure, which minimises motion transfer across the mattress. However, because latex is naturally bouncy, the mattress does not offer as good motion isolation as you can find in hybrids with memory foams that absorb more vibrations. That said, some people will prefer the more responsive surface of latex, especially if they are not easily disturbed by movement.
The Wildflower has been designed to adapt to various sleeping positions and body types. The combination of latex and aerocoil springs offers contouring while the spring base supports the spine’s natural position. However, since the Wildflower is a medium plush mattress, it may not suit heavier individuals or people who prefer to sleep on their stomach. Generally, medium plush mattresses work best for side and combination sleepers who need pressure relief around their shoulders and hips.
If you are an individual who enjoys sleeping on the edge of the bed or needs additional support getting in and out of bed, the Wildflower has a robust edge that will meet your needs. The bottom layer of the mattress is a SupportCore base, which reinforces the perimeter of the mattress. This prevents sinkage from sleeping or sitting on the edge so you can comfortably use the full surface of the mattress.
What’s inside the Simba Green Hybrid Wildflower?
This 14-inch deep mattress from Simba is an expensive mattress, but you get a lot of layers for your money: nine. These layers include up to 5,000 Aerocoil™ springs, a natural wool layer, and an OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified Talalay Latex support layer, encased in a certified organic cotton cover.
- Organic cotton cover. The cover of the Simba Green Hybrid Wildflower mattress is made from certified organic cotton, which enhances airflow and helps to regulate temperature. It also includes a 3D mesh border, which also supports breathability.
- Natural wool layer. The first layer of the mattress is natural wool. It is naturally hypoallergenic and temperature regulating. In addition, it works as a natural fire retardant, removing the need for chemical fire retardants.
- Simbatex comfort layer. Next comes the Simbatex® comfort layer, which is an advanced foam that has been infused with cooling technology. This layer is designed to improve airflow and provide a cooler sleeping experience.
- Aerocoil micro springs. Below the comfort layer are two layers of micro springs, totalling up to 5,000 patented Aerocoil® micro springs. They are tiny, flexible springs that evenly distribute weight and reduce pressure points.
- Talalay latex. A key feature of the Wildflower is its Talalay latex layer. This natural latex has a responsive feel, ensuring you experience both comfort and support. Talalay latex is durable and breathable, making it an excellent addition for Canadians looking for a more natural and sustainable mattress option.
- 100% recyclable base pocket springs. Made with up to 1,000 pocket springs, this layer offers a supportive surface for your spine. It has five specific zones to ensure your body is supported and contoured in the right places.
- Spring encapsulation base. Finally, the Wildflower has a support layer designed to optimise edge support. This base improves the longevity of your mattress by preventing sagging over time.
Comfort exchange during the 100-night sleep trial

Simba operates a 100-night sleep trial during which you can use the mattress at home as normal. If you are unhappy with how the mattress performs, you can change it for another mattress from Sleep County with over 50 different mattresses to choose from.

Patented Organic Foam: The Essentia Tatami 🍁

A full-latex mattress with patented organic foam
The Essentia Tatami Mattress is a natural, organic mattress that has been designed to provide comfort and support while minimising its impact on the environment. Made with certified organic materials, the Tatami mattress aims to deliver a balanced sleep experience. It is a medium-firm mattress, which makes it a suitable mattress option for most Canadians’ sleeping preferences and body types.
The Tatami mattress includes a layer of Essentia’s Beyond Latex™ organic foam. This material is breathable and allows for natural airflow, thus helping to maintain a temperature-neutral sleeping environment. It also prevents heat buildup, which is an issue often associated with traditional memory foam mattresses. As a result, you are less likely to experience overheating during the night and more likely to get a restful night’s sleep.
Because Essentia’s organic latex foam is designed to act like memory foam, it provides contouring support while also absorbing movement. This feature reduces motion transfer across the mattress and makes it a suitable choice for people sharing their bed. On the other hand, it does not have the same bounce as some other latex mattresses, so if you prefer a more bouncy surface, you may find other latex mattresses meet your needs better.
The Tatami mattress has two different latex layers that have been designed to offer both contouring and support to relieve pressure while keeping the spine in a neutral position. The upper layer of latex offers support, while the lower latex layer provides comfort so you can wake up without aches and pains that non-supportive, non-contouring mattresses can cause.
One area where the Tatami falls short of expectations is edge support. While latex is generally firmer than memory foams, the Tatami mattress could benefit from additional edge reinforcement. This would allow users to better utilise the full surface of the mattress and support getting in and out of the bed. However, the edge support is not non-existent and many Canadians would not see it as an issue if they enjoy all the other features the Tatami offers.
What’s inside the Essentia Tatami?
The Essentia Tatami is an 8” tall mattress formed with two layers of foam. Unlike many modern organic mattresses that use both latex and springs, the Tatami relies on latex to deliver a comfortable sleeping surface.
- GOTS Certified organic cotton cover. The Tatami mattress has a removable cover made with organic cotton. This material is naturally cooling and helps wick away moisture while you sleep.
- Nontoxic flame barrier. While some organic mattresses choose to use wool as a fire retardant, Essentia has opted for Kevlar. It is an allergy free, nontoxic fire retardant and covers the entire Tatami mattress.
- GOLS Certified organic latex support core. This is the first of the two latex layers used in the Tatami mattress. This layer is designed to ensure your back is properly supported and your spine is in a natural alignment.
- Beyond Latex™ active organic foam. The second latex layer is Essentia’s proprietary organic foam. While the first layer offers support, this second latex layer offers contouring and is designed to reduce pressure points.
Unique 120 night sleep trial
Like most other mattress companies in Canada, Essentia has a sleep trial period for customers who purchase one of their mattresses. The Essentia sleep trial is 120 nights with an adjustment period of 30 nights.
If you decide after sleeping on the mattress at least 30 nights that you are not happy with it, you can contact Essentia to start the return process. Once your return is approved, Essentia will arrange a mattress collection and process your refund.

Organic Comfort for the Whole Family: The Avocado Eco Organic Mattress

Providing sustainable, healthy sleep for adults and children
The Avocado Eco Organic Mattress is a latex hybrid mattress designed to offer comfort and support using eco-friendly materials. Rated five out of ten for firmness, it sits perfectly in the middle of the firmness scale. The Eco Organic Mattress is available for both adults and children, so all members of the family can enjoy a sustainable, chemical-free sleeping experience.
Because the Eco Organic is a medium firm mattress, it is a good choice for side and combination sleepers, while back and stomach sleepers may prefer a slightly firmer surface. Heavier individuals may also find that the Eco mattress allows them to sink too deep into the mattress. For others, this mattress will deliver a balance of pressure relief and spinal support to prevent joint and back aches.
The Eco mattress from Avocado is a great option for Canadians looking for a mattress that helps them maintain a comfortable body temperature. The combination of naturally breathable organic cotton and moisture-wicking wool improves airflow and dissipates heat. The temperature-regulating properties are further enhanced by the natural coolness of the Dunlop latex and the pocketed coil base, which allow air to flow throughout the mattress.
You might also want to consider the Avocado Eco mattress if you need a mattress with strong edge support. Generally, you will need a sturdy edge if you like to sleep on the edge of the bed or need support getting in or out of bed. The Eco has a robust coil system that reinforces its perimeter, allowing you to use the edge for sleeping and sitting without having to worry about it sagging under your weight.
Quite typically for hybrid mattresses that use latex instead of memory foam, there is room for improvement in terms of motion isolation. Because latex naturally has some bounce, it does not absorb movement as well as memory foams. On the other hand, it provides a responsive surface, which is great for combination sleepers and also stops you from feeling like you are stuck to the mattress.
What’s inside the Avocado Eco Organic mattress?
The Avocado Eco Organic Mattress is a ten inches tall mattress with a two inches thick comfort layer. It uses organic materials and combines them with a spring base to create a mattress that delivers temperature-regulating and pressure-relieving properties to keep you comfortable through the night.
- Organic cotton cover. The Avocado Eco Organic Mattress is covered in 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, which is soft and breathable. It is also moisture-wicking and temperature-regulating, keeping the surface of the mattress cool and comfortable.
- Organic wool layer. The top layer of the Eco mattress is GOTS-certified organic wool. Wool is a natural flame retardant, thus eliminating the need for synthetic chemicals. It also improves breathability and temperature regulation, and provides a plush feel.
- Organic latex layer. The comfort layer is made with GOLS-certified organic latex. Organic latex is responsive and provides pressure relief, allowing hips and shoulders to sink and keeping the spine neutral. Since latex is naturally resilient, it is resistant to sagging, ensuring long-lasting comfort.
- Coil support system. The base of the mattress hosts a zoned coil system made from recycled steel. The coils are wrapped individually to improve motion isolation and provide targeted support for your body. The coils are also used to improve the edge support, which helps the mattress maintain its shape for longer.
A full year to try the Eco Organic
Because the Avocado Eco Organic Mattress is a significant investment for many people, it is natural to have some reservations. At Avocado, they understand this, which is why they offer a 365-night sleep trial. This way your investment is risk-free: if you are not happy, you can request a refund.
When you first receive your Avocado mattress, you need to use it for a minimum of 30 nights. If after the 30 nights you feel the mattress does not provide what you are looking for, contact Avocado to arrange the return and your refund.

Still have questions? Here are some of the most common questions readers ask us.
How often should you replace your mattress?
You should replace your mattress every 5 to 7 years. Some mattresses last longer, so this is just a general rule. Regardless of the amount of time you’ve owned the mattress, there are some indicators that it’s time to replace your mattress. If you find yourself waking up with aches and pains, pressure points, or other general discomfort, your mattress may be breaking down. Sinkage over time is normal. Once it begins affecting your sleep, it’s time to get a fresh new mattress that will help you sleep more comfortably.
What type of mattress is best for back pain?
A medium-firm hybrid mattress is the best for back pain. These mattresses often focus on increased lumbar support, which helps keep your body in a neutral position. This prevents undue strain on your spine, creating a more comfortable sleep environment in all sleeping positions. If you regularly suffer from back pain, make sure to consult with a medical professional before purchasing a mattress.
Do these mattresses ship for free?
Most of the mattresses on our list ship for free to most locations in Canada. However, it’s worth checking the listing for each mattress to determine if shipping will be free to your location. Some remote locations may require a shipping fee. Make sure to check with customer service for each mattress company if you are afraid that delivery to your remote location may require a delivery fee.
What else do I need?
Once you have chosen the perfect mattress, there are a few additional products you need to pick up. First, you should consider a mattress foundation, frame, or box spring. We have some amazing picks from Canadian companies here. Most companies require their mattresses to be kept on a foundation during use. If you fail to keep the mattress on a compatible foundation, they may not honor any warranty claims you make down the road.
After you’ve picked up a frame or adjustable bed, you’ll need a mattress protector. You must keep your mattress in a sanitary condition. A mattress protector can help avoid staining, damage, and odours that can occur over time. If you are trying out a mattress with a sleep trial, it’s even more important to use a mattress protector. Some companies will not accept returns (even during the sleep trial) if the mattress is damaged.
Sheets, pillows, duvets, and other bedding options are the final step. Make sure to choose options that fit the mattress (choose the same standard size or check the sizing on the bedding to ensure that it will fit). If you choose to use a duvet, you will also need a duvet cover. Comforters are also a viable option for getting your bed ready to go.
Thankfully, we have a host of articles on these extras to ensure that you find the ones that work best for you!

I was between the Logan & Cove Choice and the Douglas Summit. Ended up picking L&C and it’s been great. Just a heads-up: the box is not a 1-person job if you have to take it up stairs. Make sure you have help bringing it in.
Bought the Silk & Snow Hybrid on sale for $999 during Boxing Week last year. Crazy value for what you get compared to Sleep Country in the store. If you’re a side sleeper like me and want pressure relief but still some bounce, this is it.
Great list, thank you very much Made in CA team. Do any of these Canadian mattress brands offer in-home setup or take away your old mattress? I live in a condo and can’t haul a mattress out myself.
Yes, several. But it depends on your location and where you are in the country as most of the companies above partner with 3rd party vendors to provide this service. Before placing the order it’s usually on the order page or before checkout, but you can always ask their support to double-check.
Thanks for the Canadian focus, we need to support each us now more than ever with these American tariffs. It’s getting harder to tell which companies are actually Canadian-owned vs just made here. Appreciate the 🍁 symbol – very helpful!
Elbows up!
