ECW Press is a Canadian company that was founded in 1974 and is located in Toronto, ON. They are an independent book publishing firm that was established by Jack David and Robert Lecker. Through the 1980’s and 1990’s they expanded by producing trade and scholarly titles and then began to publish popular titles. Their name comes from their first publishing venture which was a Canadian literary magazine called Essays on Canadian Writing. Their name now represents their style of publishing: Entertainment, Culture and Writing.
By 2009 the company created their first audiobook and by 2017 they launched their audiobook division called Bespeak Audio. ECW Press holds a distinction for being one of the most diverse independent publishers in North America. Over 1,000 of their English-speaking books have been translated into a range of languages.
