ChocoSol Traders was originally formed in Mexico in 2004 and moved to Toronto in 2006. The company’s mission is to make chocolate and maize foods that are good for the mind, body, and soil. We make chocolate from scratch and are in control of each step of the process- from building long-term relationships with the farmers we work with around the world, direct-purchase and direct-trade sourcing practices- all the way to the chocolate making itself. We take raw cacao beans and roast, winnow, and grind them into chocolate all in our production kitchen in Toronto, Ontario. ChocoSol sources local ingredients when possible, including local pumpkin seeds, maple sugar, and dried fruits.

ChocoSol also integrates the use of a community-based, urban agriculture project (ChocoSoil) integrating soil making and rooftop container gardening into daily operations at the company’s chocolate production facility. The company has 88 self-watering garden containers on the roof of its facility and grow a range of crops in their ChocoSol mix. This helps the company to practice urban agriculture and soil regeneration and grow harvest for its products.
