Metro is a Canadian company that began operations in 1947. Their headquarters is in Montréal, QC and they have stores in Québec and Ontario. Their primary business is grocery stores although they also have drugstores under their umbrella too. Metro was founded by Roland Jeanneau in Verdun, QC and the company has expanded with a large number of company takeovers over time. They now employ almost 100,000 people.

The Metro grocery divisions are Food Basics, Marché Richelieu, Super C, Les 5 Saisons, Marché Ami and The Barn Markets. Their subsidiaries are Brunet, Marché Adonis and Jean Coutu. They have almost 1000 grocery stores and 700 drug stores under their banner. They are now the second largest food distribution and retailing organization in Ontario and Québec.
