Leading Edge Designs began in 1984 when founder Tom Littledeer thought of making a scoop-shaped paddle for canoes. The miniature versions of the paddle he made for promotion became the Pot Scoop, the very first wooden utensil made by Leading Edge Designs Inc. In 1995, the Pot Scoop and four other cooking utensils from the Mapleware line were launched to the public.

Since then, they’ve sold over 1 million utensils from the Mapleware line. Leading Edge has also created household cleaning tools, sporting equipment, greenhouses, furniture, and more. All are made with heat-enduring maple wood. Now, you can find wooden utensils (including left-handed versions), tools, and cutting boards on their website.
