It's Great For:

Considerations:

The Simba Hybrid duvet is made of sustainable materials, including a 100% recycled ingredient fill that is hypoallergenic and does not use animal products in its manufacturing. The cover is made from 100% cotton from the Better Cotton Initiative, and the entire duvet meets the Global Recycled Product Standard. This is an excellent duvet option for those concerned about our footprint’s overall impact on the planet.

The Simba duvet comes in one weight option, suitable for year-round temperatures and available in both Queen and King sizes. The duvet is constructed with quilted pockets throughout, so the fill will not bunch or shift during use or washing. The unique Invista Fibre fill helps sleepers regulate their body temperatures at night. Despite being incredibly lightweight, the duvet fibres trap and disperse heat as needed, keeping you cool in warmer seasons and warmer in the winter. This duvet is perfect for anyone who sleeps warm.

This Simba Duvet is best to be used with a duvet cover, as it will help protect it from any spills or stains that may occur. Fortunately, the Simba Duvet can be machine washed and dried, a benefit many other Canadian duvets do not include.

Duvet Construction

Simba Hybrid Duvet Construction

A huge factor when determining a duvet’s quality is its construction. No matter what type of fill a duvet has, it must be constructed with the highest craftsmanship, or the fill will eventually bunch and be lumpy. A duvet with uneven filling not only looks terrible but will cause a poor sleeping experience.

The Simba Duvet uses a quilted baffle box construction to avoid its fill shifting throughout the duvet. The fill is separated into square pockets, sewn like a quilt, that ensures the filling will not move around during use or washing. Paired with its incredibly strong thread used in mattresses worldwide, the Simba duvet is constructed solidly, with both comfort and functionality in mind.

Fill Type

When choosing a duvet, there are many types of fills to consider, such as down or alternative down fillings.

The Simba Hybrid Duvet does not use a feather fill but instead uses a fibre fill called Invista. Simba’s Invista Cool Night fibres are embedded with semi-conducting minerals that draw heat away from the body. The fill ensures that the Simba duvet will help keep you at a perfect temperature, whether you sleep warm or cool. Unlike many other duvets on the market, the Simba is suitable for year-long use, and you will no longer need a separate duvet for each season.

This duvet is made of 100% recycled materials and is great for eco-conscious people. Canadians with allergies will appreciate that the entire duvet is hypoallergenic since no feathers are used. The Simba duvet is free of all animal products, from cover to fill.

Shell Materials

Simba Hybrid Shell Materials

The shell of a duvet is crucial to comfort and temperature control. When buying a new duvet, choosing a breathable, soft surface that caters to the temperature you sleep at is vital.

The Simba Duvet has a top cotton layer with a unique phase change technology called Stratos. This technology is inspired by astronaut space suits and helps absorb heat from the body and release it when needed. The top layer of the Simba duvet will keep you at the perfect temperature year long.

The bottom layer of the shell is made of 100% cotton derived from Better Cotton Initiative sources, making it very environmentally responsible.

The Simba Duvet shell does an excellent job with temperature control while still being comfortable. Despite being soft to the touch, the Simba duvet should still be used with a cover to help keep it from wearing out too fast and protect it from stains.

Weight & Size

The Simba Hybrid Duvet is lightweight, making it the perfect yearlong duvet. Weighing 3-3.5 kg (depending on the size of the duvet), it will not be too heavy for those sensitive to bulky or weighted blankets.

In Canada, The Simba Hybrid Duvet is available in two sizes, which are:

  • Queen: 90″ x 98″
  • King: 108″ x 98″

For those with a queen or king mattress, choose the duvet that matches your mattress size. You can, though, choose a larger duvet if you wish for some overhang of the duvet on the sides of your bed. Canadians with a twin/twin XL or a California King may need to look at other duvet brands, as the Simba only comes in a Queen and standard King size in Canada.

Temperature Control

The Simba Duvet is one of the top duvets in the Canadian marketplace that you can buy for temperature control. Inspired by the extreme temperatures that astronauts endure and regulate, the shell and the inner fibre fill are designed to keep you cool when you sleep warm and release heat back to you on colder nights.

The duvet’s surface, Stratos, has unique temperature-regulating technology, ensuring that the layer closest to your skin will help you remain at an ideal temperature all night. The fill of the Simba Duvet made of Invista Cool Night Fibres, wicks away and stores heat, continuing to keep you comfortable while sleeping

The Simba Duvet is an excellent option for co-sleepers who may not always need the same temperature control as their partner, as this duvet adapts temperature regulation to each individual.

While the Simba Duvet does a great job with temperature control on its own, making sure it is paired with a mattress that has cooling properties, as well as a duvet cover that is 100% cotton, lightweight and breathable, is also crucial.

Duvet Cover

The Simba Hybrid Duvet should be used with a duvet cover, which will help keep it clean and prolong its life. For those with allergies, switching out and washing your duvet cover regularly will combat dust and dirt. While the Simba Duvet can be machine washed and dried, some may find it easier to clean the duvet cover than the duvet itself.

Duvet covers are sized to match your duvet, so make sure you purchase the correct cover dimension. Simba does not sell any duvet covers to accompany their duvets, so when choosing a cover from another store, look for one that is 100% cotton and lightweight to ensure the benefits of the Simba duvet.
