It's Great For:

Considerations:

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow is the pocket coil version of one of Casper’s most popular mattresses. It’s enhanced with better cooling technologies and support to reduce discomfort. Four layers of comfort foam are perforated, zoned, or both. These proprietary materials are completely unique to Casper (and in some cases, unique to this mattress). Casper uses some of the best technology available for this mattress.

Inside the QuickCool cover, you’ll find four layers of foam. The first three are perforated to allow extra airflow to pass through the mattress. At the top of the mattress is a cooling gel layer, which helps wick away moisture and heat throughout the night. It is coated with an additional layer of cooling PCM, or phase-changing material. This material keeps a consistent, low temperature throughout the night to keep heat from building up. Two additional latex foam layers boost airflow. The first uses HeatDelete cooling bands, while the second is zoned for better lumbar support.

The fourth layer of foam is an adaptive, aligning foam that goes beyond the standard layer materials. This layer is thicker where you need more support and thinner where you need pressure relief. Two rows of gel support pods are embedded in the foam on either side of your lower. These firm pods create a comfort barrier, bracketing your hips and providing exceptional alignment for all sleeping positions. Side sleepers will find this most comfortable, however. Finally, a layer of pocket coils and perimeter support foam keeps you balanced and well-supported no matter where you sleep on the mattress.

Together, these layers create a feeling that you won’t find elsewhere. This mattress uses all of the tools at its disposal to create a unique and memorable sleep experience that you won’t want to give up.

Ultimate Mattress Casper Wave Hybrid Lumbar Support

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow makes use of some previously unexplored technologies to provide better support and cooling features.

  • QuickCool Cover. The cover of the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow mattress is soft and breathable. It’s made with fibres that are cool to the touch and promote better temperature control through the rest of the mattress.
  • AirScape Casper Signature Foam with PCM. The top layer of the mattress is made with Casper’s Signature Foam, perforated for better airflow. This layer is comfortable and relieves pressure immediately. A coating of PCM, or phase-changing material, helps the surface of the mattress maintain a cooler temperature all night long.
  • HeatDelete Bands. Nestled between the first and second layers are Casper’s proprietary graphite HeatDelete bands. These strips of graphite work for 12+ hours to move heat away from you.
  • Thicker AirScape Foam. A thicker layer of AirScape perforated foam reduces pressure and maintains airflow from the other perforated layers. This layer is softer and more comfortable.
  • Zoned AirScape Foam. This zoned AirScape perforated foam layer uses three areas to help align your body and keep you comfortable all night long. This layer uses firmer foam throughout the centre of the mattress for your back and hips, while softer foam around your shoulders reduces pressure and discomfort.
  • Align Foam with Gel Pods. A unique layer of Casper’s Zoned Support foam acts as a transition layer. Here, you’ll find zoned support foam in several support zones, created to ergonomically reduce pressure and align your spine. Up to 82 gel pods under your hips and lumbar provide firm additional support.
  • Flex Coil Layer. Supportive pocket coils create better support and balance throughout the mattress. These coils align your body and add increased durability so you can sleep comfortably for years to come.
  • Edge Support Perimeter Foam. A layer of thick support foam creates a perimeter. This surrounding layer helps bolster the edges of the mattress to prevent sinking and sagging as you sit on the edge of the bed.

There are two additional firmness options for this mattress. The Plush version uses materials of different thicknesses to provide a softer feel, while the Firm version switches the Align Foam and Zoned Foam layers to create a more supportive surface.

Firmness

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow is available in three different firmness options. The most accessible (the Medium-Firm option) is about a 6 on our firmness scale. Though it’s rated as a medium-firm mattress, it’s on the softer side of the medium-firm spectrum. This means that you can expect strong support from the support layers, but the top of the mattress is still plush enough to relieve pressure for most sleepers.

The Plush version and Firm versions offer a distinct difference when it comes to feel, but neither deviates too much from the Medium-Firm version. The Plush is about a 5.5 on our firmness scale, while the Firm rates at about a 7.

Motion Isolation

Despite the hybrid nature of the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow mattress, it isolates motion just as well as a memory foam mattress might. The comfort system provides multiple layers of foam, and each reduces the motion that can travel across the mattress. The pocket coils further reduce motion, meaning you’ll feel very little from the other side of the mattress.

If you’re tired of waking up when your partner tosses and turns at night, this mattress can reduce how much you feel from the other side of the bed. Even when they are awake, you don’t have to be.

Pressure Relief

Casper Wave Hybrid Pressure Relief

The Casper Wave Hybrid snow is all about comfort. Each layer of their patented comfort system works to reduce pressure and balance your body. The four layers of foam above the coils provide softer foam around your shoulders, with firmer support around your hips and lower back. You’ll get support where it’s needed, but the mattress also provides exceptional pressure relief. If you often wake up due to discomfort where your body touches the mattress, this might be a better bed for you.

The plush surface of this mattress helps most sleepers seek relief from pressure points, but those who prefer a firmer mattress should consider purchasing the Firm version.

Temperature Control

Do you often wake up drenched in sweat in the middle of the night? If night sweats and overheating are a problem for you, you aren’t alone. Most Canadians have issues regulating temperature throughout the night, but your mattress might be the primary culprit. Choosing a mattress with better cooling features (as well as cooling sheets and cooling pillows) may be able to help you sleep better.

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow features three layers of perforated foam, topped with a layer of cooling gel foam, phase-changing materials, and Casper’s proprietary HeatDelete bands. The result is a mattress that moves heat away from you as you sleep, replacing the heat that can build up under you as you sleep. The cooling features help wick away moisture, too, so you’re less likely to wake up sweaty.

These layers help create a breathable mattress that naturally removes heat from the equation. This mattress does a great job of keeping the temperature down for most Canadians, especially because of the pocket coil support layer.

Edge Support

If you sit or sleep near the edge of the bed, you may notice that some mattresses lack edge support. This means that you won’t be as well-supported as you approach the edge of the mattress. If you sit at the edge of the mattress, it might sink or slide beneath you, creating uncomfortable instability.

Thankfully, the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow tries to remedy this. A layer of support foam wraps around the coil layer, forming a strong perimeter of support for the edges of the mattress. You’ll still sink a little at the edges, as the layers of comforting foam have to compress a little before you reach the support of this foam perimeter. Still, it’s more comfortable than the sliding feeling on many other mattresses.

Ease of Movement

Casper Wave Hybrid Ease of Movement

Because the many layers of foam in the Casper Wave Hybrid snow mattress contour to your body to relieve pressure, it may be more difficult to move around on the surface of the mattress. Some memory foam mattresses feel like ‘quicksand’, which can quickly make you feel as though you are too deep in the mattress to move around comfortably. This mattress remedies some of that with the bounce from the hybrid layer. The support layers can help reduce the memory foam ‘hug’ at points where they are firmer, but it’s still a little difficult to move around on this mattress.

Heavier Canadians will have the most trouble with this, but combination sleepers may also find it uncomfortable.

Shipping

Most Canadians will have free shipping on Casper mattresses. Territories like Yukon, the Northwest, and Nunavut require a nominal shipping fee through UPS. Most locations in Northern Canada must pay for shipping as well. If you are unsure about shipping fees that may be associated with your location, you can always contact Casper’s customer service team to discuss your exact address.

If you don’t want to set your mattress up yourself, you can order Casper’s in-home delivery and installation service. For $249, an expert will set your mattress up and remove your old mattress.

While standard orders should arrive within 3 to 9 business days after shipping. If you order in-home delivery and installation, it can take up to 2 weeks to arrange for installation. You will need to be home for your delivery if you order an in-home setup.

Sleep Trial and Returns

Like all Casper mattresses, the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow has a 100-night sleep trial. You’ll have the first 100 nights (just over three months!) after your purchase arrives to determine if it’s the right option for you. Since it takes 30 days for your body to adjust to a new bed, Casper requires that you wait at least 30 nights before making your decision.

If you decide that you don’t like the mattress, you’ll get a full refund of your purchase price. After these first 30 nights, you can initiate a return on Casper’s website. They will schedule a pick-up that works for you, and that mattress will be donated if possible. In order to be eligible for a return, your mattress must be like new, in sanitary condition, and without any stains.

Once Casper’s chosen courier picks your mattress up, they will issue a refund. It can take up to a week to process the refund, as well as an additional period of 3 to 10 days for your return to arrive at your original payment method.

Warranty

The Casper Wave Hybrid snow is covered by Casper’s 10-year limited warranty. Any defects in materials, workmanship, or manufacturing are covered by this warranty. Defects covered by this warranty include deep body indents that occur during normal use, physical defects that cause the foam to split or crack, and problems with the zipper assembly on the cover (if applicable).

Casper’s warranty terms cover these defects, but not comfort preferences, normal softening or discolouration over time, or damage caused by improper use. If the damage you observe on your mattress falls under warranty, you can begin a claim at Casper’s website.

You may be asked to provide your proof of purchase, the original date of your order, and picture evidence of the defect you are claiming. If your claim is accepted, Casper may choose to repair or replace your mattress at their discretion.

If you have a valid warranty claim, you can also request an upgrade for your mattress. You can choose a more expensive mattress and pay the difference between the two. In this case, a new warranty term will begin. If your old mattress is replaced with a comparable model or repaired, your warranty term will remain the same without renewal.

Final Thoughts

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow can be a great choice for Canadians who suffer from discomfort due to improper alignment. Side sleepers and some stomach sleepers will find the strong zoned support more comfortable than all-foam mattresses, especially due to the pocket coil layer. The plush surface offers excellent pressure relief, especially if you sleep in the same position all night long. It’s a great mattress for most Canadians, particularly those who need additional temperature control.
