Sleep Country and Endy are both Canadian companies that make mattress options for Canadians. Sleep Country’s Bloom mattresses aren’t made in Canada, but the company is still dedicated to providing a sleep experience that leaves you comfortable and well-rested. Endy makes Canadian mattresses that don’t mess around, with features that all Canadians can enjoy. To find out how the Bloom Air and Endy mattresses compare, keep reading our Bloom vs Endy review.

Bloom vs Endy: Which is Better for You?

The Bloom Air Mattress and the Endy Mattress are both great options for Canadians, but they are great for different reasons. Hot sleepers might prefer Bloom Air’s superior temperature control, while those who often wake to tossing and turning may prefer better motion isolation from the Endy mattress. The option that works for you depends on your sleeping preferences, especially due to the way these mattresses handle different features. In our Bloom vs Endy review, we’ll look at all the different ways these mattresses stack up to each other.

Mattress Construction

Though they are both all-foam mattresses, the Bloom Air mattress and the Endy mattress offer a different feel and experience. Both use high-quality materials for great pressure relief, but they use different types of foam.

Bloom Air Mattress Layers

Bloom Air Construction
  • Antimicrobial Cover. The removable, machine-washable cover on the Bloom Air mattress is made with organic cotton. This cover is breathable and soft. Unlike some of Bloom’s other covers, it sips off at the middle of the mattress so it’s easier to remove.
  • 2″ Gel Memory Foam. A thick top layer of memory foam reduces temperature, but also helps form to your body for ultimate comfort and support. This layer is infused with gel beads to trap heat and move it away from you, neutralizing any higher temperatures to prevent overheating.
  • 0.5″ Aerated Memory Foam. A thin transition layer of aerated memory foam balances the plush top layer with the firmer support base. It helps reduce temperature throughout the core of the mattress, but it also reduces some motion.
  • 7″  Bamboo Charcoal Support Base. The thicker bamboo charcoal-infused support base balances your body, relieving pressure and removing impurities from the mattress. The top of this layer has breathable channels that burrow all the way through the mattress, which helps introduce better airflow to keep you cool. The bamboo charcoal is antibacterial, reducing odours and keeping your mattress supportive for years to come.

Endy Mattress Layers

Endy Mattress Construction
  • Micro-Quilted Cover. Endy’s mattress cover is stretchy and comfortable. You can remove it and throw it into the laundry when it’s time to wash your sheets. This helps you keep your bed fresh and clean for longer.
  • Endy Comfort Foam. The first layer of foam in the Endy mattress is Endy Comfort Foam. This proprietary foam offers the comforting ‘hug’ of memory foam with the responsiveness of latex foam. This layer helps reduce higher temperatures by promoting better airflow. It also helps ease pressure and contain motion.
  • Transition Foam.  A middle layer of transition foam stops motion in its tracks. This layer helps the Endy mattress shine, as it stops most motion from transferring to the other side of the mattress. The open-cell foam offers active motion isolation, ensuring that you’ll sleep soundly throughout the night. This layer also helps cushion pressure points so you can stay comfortable no matter how you sleep.
  • Support Foam. A support layer of dense base foam helps balance your body, reducing strain and removing pressure throughout the whole mattress. This high-density foam prevents sagging, so your mattress doesn’t lose its shape over time.
  • Temperature-Neutral Foam. All layers of the Endy mattress are temperature-neutral. This is a unique feature for Endy mattresses. While memory foam usually changes based on the ambient temperature. It gets softer when it’s warmer, and firmer when it is cold. The foam layers used in the Endy mattress don’t change at all based on temperature, so you can stay comfortable through every season.

Firmness

Even with similar construction methods, Bloom Air and Endy each bring a different feel to the table. Bloom Air is a medium mattress, while the Endy mattress is medium-firm.

Bloom Air Mattress Firmness

5 on Firmness Scale

The Bloom Air mattress is about a 5 on our firmness scale. This means it’s a true medium, which is ideal for side sleepers. The surface of the mattress is plush and often feels like a cloud. When you first lie down, it works to conform to your body, reducing pressure and allowing you to drift into sleep. There is some support from the core of the mattress, but it isn’t strong enough for some sleepers.

Because of its firmness, Bloom Air is ideal for lightweight stomach sleepers and side sleepers

Endy Mattress Firmness

6.5 on Firmness Scale

The Endy mattress is a 6.5 on our firmness scale, making it a medium firm mattress. The medium firm is one of the most popular firmness options in Canada. Side sleepers, back sleepers, and some heavier stomach sleepers may find this firmness comfortable. It offers the perfect blend of support and softness without being too soft or too firm.

Medium-firm mattresses are ideal for those who suffer from back pain, as well as most back and side sleepers.

Durability

Both mattresses featured here are pretty durable, though the Endy’s longer warranty and fifth-generation foam put it a step above the Bloom Air mattress.

Bloom Air Mattress Durability

The Bloom Air mattress has a 10-year warranty, which is not necessarily an indicator of quality. However, the memory foam layers used in this mattress use an older design than those used in the Endy mattress. As a result, you probably can’t expect this mattress to last as long as the Endy mattress. When it comes to tears, rips, and indentations, it might develop issues sooner, too.

Endy Mattress Durability

The Endy mattress is a little more durable than the Bloom Air mattress. Endy uses high-quality, high-density foam in its core layer, which provides structural integrity for the entire mattress. The top layers of foam use unique, proprietary blending techniques and a fifth-generation design that uses open cells instead of solid foam. It won’t indent quickly, and the mattress will hold its shape for longer.

Motion Isolation

If you often wake up when your partner turns over or gets out of bed, you need a mattress with better motion isolation. Foam mattresses offer better motion isolation than any other type of mattress. The foam tends to stop motion as it happens, preventing it from transferring to the other side of the mattress to wake you up. Motion isolation is the one area where the Endy mattress outshines most other options on the Canadian market.

Bloom Air Mattress Motion Isolation

Bloom Air Motion Isolation

The Bloom Air mattress offers the level of motion isolation you can expect from a foam mattress. It’s a little better than average, so it provides a bit more motion isolation than some standard or budget models might. If your partner is often restless, you can expect this mattress to dampen some of that motion. This means you’ll rest a little easier and wake up less often.

Endy Mattress Motion Isolation

The Endy mattress provides some of the best motion isolation available on the Canadian market. The open-cell foam construction helps trap motion, actively preventing it from moving across the mattress. This means that you might feel some of the larger movements (such as your partner getting out of bed, or a particularly hard turn) but the smaller movements won’t disturb you. If you are a lighter sleeper, this might mean you get a better quality of sleep overall.

Temperature Control

If you often wake up hot and sweaty in the middle of the night, you aren’t alone. Most Canadians suffer from temperature control issues. Hot sleepers may need a mattress that can keep them cooler. Though cooling pillows and cooling sheets can help, your mattress might still retain heat throughout the night.

All-foam mattresses like Bloom Air and Endy tend to retain heat, but both mattresses have some solid features to help reduce temperature. Here, Bloom Air excels.

Bloom Air Mattress Temperature Control

As its name might suggest, Bloom Air mattresses use multiple cooling methods to reduce temperature throughout the surface and the core of the mattress. The top layer of gel cooling foam isolates heat. The gel-infused beads help absorb heat and move it away from you throughout the night, reducing the temperature underneath you. The transition layer uses aerated foam for better airflow.

Meanwhile, the bamboo charcoal-infused foam base can also greatly reduce temperature. This layer has airflow channels cut into the top, helping circulate cooler air through the core of the mattress. This cooler air eventually makes its way up to you, replacing superheated air from under your body. Overall, you can expect a much cooler sleep from this mattress despite its all-foam construction.

Endy Mattress Temperature Control

Endy Mattress Temperature Control

The Endy mattress, on the other hand, neutralizes temperature via the open-cell foam design. This is a little less effective than the methods used by Bloom Air. While this mattress still sleeps a little cooler than your standard all-foam mattress, it offers no additional active temperature control features. If you don’t sleep too hot, this mattress is still a great choice. However, those who sleep hot may prefer to choose Bloom Air.

Edge Support

If you’ve ever sat on the edge of an all-foam mattress, you know that the edges sometimes collapse. Foam mattresses are known for lacking support around the edges, making it difficult to sit at the edge of the bed. The foam will often compress underneath you, so it sags or makes you feel as though you might slide off.

Some all-foam mattresses naturally avoid this by using dense support layers. Some even include edge support perimeters or encasements to bolster the edges. While neither the Bloom Air nor Endy mattresses use additional measures, the Bloom Air has a slight natural advantage over the Endy mattress.

Bloom Air Mattress Edge Support

Bloom Air Edge Support

The Bloom Air mattress offers better edge support than you might expect. This might be due to the airflow channels cut into the support layer, which may allow the mattress to strategically collapse inward instead of compressing at the edges. If you like to sit on the edge of the mattress in the morning (or if you sleep near the edge), the Bloom Air mattress provides enough edge support to keep you comfortable.

Endy Mattress Edge Support

Unfortunately, the Endy mattress doesn’t offer any additional edge support features. It offers some measure of natural edge support (meaning the support core will catch you before the mattress compresses completely). However, the edge support here doesn’t hold up against the Bloom Air mattress.

Pricing

Pricing is quite a bit different between the Bloom Air mattress and the Endy mattress. The Endy mattress is a bit cheaper, making it ideal for those on a budget. It’s also available in California King. The Bloom Air mattress, on the other hand, isn’t available in this larger size. Bloom Air is also more expensive in every size. Here are the current prices and sizes available for each mattress.

Shipping

Both Bloom and Endy ship mattresses for free, though their service locations vary. There are also some different shipping services and fees you can expect from each company depending on your location.

Bloom Air Mattress Shipping

Sleep Country ships the Bloom mattress for free to most of Canada. Some areas are not covered by free shipping. If you live in the Northwest Territories, Yukon, Nunavut, Newfoundland, and Labrador, you will need to pay a $120 surcharge to get your mattress delivered. This fee may change based on how remote your address is. If you are unsure, check with Sleep Country’s customer service team to determine how much you may have to pay. Mattresses arrive in 3 to 5 business days after shipping to most of Canada. The areas mentioned above can expect delivery between 7 to 10 days after shipping.

Sleep Country also offers the Green Glove Delivery service. This in-home service is an upgrade you can add at checkout. Fees may vary. If you choose this option, the company will set up your new mattress and remove your old one.

Endy Mattress Shipping

Endy also ships all of its mattresses for free within Canadian provinces. There are no shipping or delivery fees for these areas. A flat rate of $150 applies to territories such as Whitehorse, Yellowknife, and Iqaluit. Additional fees may apply depending on your location, so you should check with Endy’s customer service team to see what your shipping charge will be.

Your order will typically leave the warehouse the day after you place it. Throughout Canada, you can expect delivery within 7 business days. In some locations, it may be much quicker.

Sleep Trial and Returns

A sleep trial gives you the opportunity to try a mattress before you commit to a purchase. This is particularly important when it comes to mattresses that are available exclusively online, like the Endy mattress. Endy offers a better sleep trial and return process, but you can try Bloom Air in retail locations before purchasing if you choose.

Bloom Air Mattress Sleep Trial and Returns

Though you can purchase the Bloom Air mattress at Sleep Country’s brick-and-mortar locations, they still offer a 100-night sleep trial. During this trial, you can try the mattress to see if it is compatible with your sleeping style. However, this is where the Bloom sleep trial varies from most mattress companies in the Canadian market.

Most offer full refunds if you don’t like your mattress. Bloom (and Sleep Country) only offer an exchange. You can choose any of Sleep Country’s other 50 mattress models instead of Bloom Air. This process is started at a Sleep Country retail location. You will have to pay $65 for the exchange and delivery of your new mattress. You are also responsible for any price difference between the mattresses.

Endy Mattress Sleep Trial and Returns

Endy offers a more traditional 100-night sleep trial. You can try the Endy mattress for 100 nights before deciding if you like it. You don’t have to wait for the traditional 30-day break-in period, either. You can return it immediately if you really don’t like it. You’ll get a full refund of your purchase price as long as the mattress is in good condition and free of stains or major damage.

Once you initiate a return, a pick-up partner will contact you to schedule a mattress retrieval. Once the mattress is picked up, your refund is processed in 5 business days. It may take an additional 5 business days for the funds to return to your original payment method.

Warranty

Both Sleep Country and Endy offer fairly extensive warranties, though Endy offers slightly better terms (and a longer warranty overall).

Bloom Air Mattress Warranty

The Bloom Air mattress comes with a 10-year warranty. This mattress covers tears in the fabric of the cover or foam of the mattress, as well as body indents of 1.5″ or more. This warranty is void if you don’t use the Bloom Air mattress with a compatible frame.

To submit a warranty claim, you have to submit a warranty self-assessment on the Sleep Country website. There, you can find information about what you need to submit your claim, as well as how to proceed once it is completed.

Endy Mattress Warranty

Endy’s 15-year mattress warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship that cause flaws or damage. This warranty covers visible body indents of more than 1″, zipper assembly defects, and any physical flaws that occur during normal use. The warranty is void if you use the mattress with an incompatible bed frame. Endy is compatible with box springs, adjustable beds, and slatted frames.

There is no charge to replace your Endy mattress if there is a valid warranty claim. You will need pictures of the damage and your original order information, and Endy will repair or replace the mattress at their discretion.

Final Thoughts

The Bloom Air and Endy mattresses offer different experiences despite their similar construction. The companies handle things differently, too. Bloom Air is better for those who sleep hot, while Endy is best for those who need to reduce motion transfer. The option you should choose depends on your own sleep needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

While we try to feature mattresses that are made in Canada, Bloom mattresses are unfortunately manufactured in China. The Endy mattress is made right here in Canada, though. Both Sleep Country (Bloom’s parent company) and Endy are Canadian brands.

The Bloom Air mattress offers a plush sleep surface that envelops you in a soft, pressure-relieving hug. This mattress offers better pressure relief than the Endy, which is a firmer mattress overall. If pressure relief is the most important thing for you, the Bloom Air is the best choice.

If you move around a lot during the night, you may want to choose the Endy mattress. While neither of these all-foam mattresses offer great ease of movement, the Endy Comfort Foam used in the Endy mattress provides a bit more bounce than the materials used in the Bloom Air mattress. Moving around is a bit easier on the slightly more responsive Endy Mattress.

Both mattresses ship free to most areas in Canada. However, there are some exceptions. There is a $120 surcharge to ship the Bloom air to areas like Yukon, Nunavut, Newfoundland, and Labrador. The Endy Mattress needs a $150 flat rate to ship to territories like Whitehorse, Yellowknife, and Iqaluit. If you aren’t sure about what your shipping charge will be, contact the customer service department of each mattress company.

Sleep Country and Endy both offer comparable sleep trials. Both give you 100 nights to determine if the mattress is right for you. After this time, you can return your mattress if you aren’t happy with it. However, Sleep Country doesn’t offer refunds. Instead, you can exchange the mattress for another option, which costs $65 for exchange and delivery, as well as the price difference between the mattresses.
