It's Great For:

Considerations:

The Noa Mattress is a medium-firm hybrid mattress that uses high-end materials to create a unique, comfortable feel. While some mattresses use memory foam or latex to create pressure relief and temperature control, the Noa mattress uses both materials alongside the coil layer. Together, these materials provide a unique feel that makes this mattress extremely comfortable for most sleeping positions.

The pillow top layer uses Tencel to wick away heat and moisture while providing a cloud-like sleeping experience. Meanwhile, responsive, bouncy latex starts relieving pressure immediately. A thick layer of cooling gel memory foam reduces heat and deals with deeper pressure points, creating a comfortable experience overall.

Firm support from the high-gauge steel coils keeps you aligned and well-supported throughout the night. They are responsive, meaning you can move around easily without feeling ‘stuck’ in the mattress. With an edge support perimeter and hand-tufted knit cover, this mattress uses every material to bring you a comfortable sleep experience.

This mattress is available in Twin, Full, Queen, and King sizes. A 120-night risk-free sleep trial will help you determine if it’s the right mattress for you. It’s great for side sleepers because of the comforting top and firm support from the coil layer, but back sleepers and some heavy side sleepers will be able to enjoy it as well.

Mattress Construction

Noa Mattress Construction

The Noa Mattress is constructed using a blend of mattress materials, from memory foam to latex and coils.

  1. Tencel Pillow Top. The top layer of the Noa mattress is a comfortable pillow top that uses a Tencel cover. Tencel is naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic, but it’s also hand-tufted. It helps reduce pressure throughout your body, allowing you a comfortable space to relax into the mattress.
  2. Open-Cell Latex. This thin layer of open-cell latex is responsive and comfortable. It reduces pressure from uncomfortable pressure points, but it also keeps you cool. Latex doesn’t retain heat as memory foam does, so you’ll feel cooler overall. Plus, the natural buoyancy of latex makes it easy to move around on the mattress.
  3. Gel Memory Foam. This layer of gel memory foam wicks away heat and moisture, reducing temperature and preventing you from sweating too much throughout the night.  It’s also extremely comfortable, as it conforms to your body to help give you pressure relief right where you need it.
  4. Adaptive Transition Foam. Adaptive memory foam cradles your deepest pressure points. It helps. Isolation motion from the other side of the bed, meaning that you won’t wake up when your partner tosses and turns throughout the night.
  5. Pocket Spring Support Base. The support layer for the Noa mattress is made with individually pocketed springs. These springs are made of thick-gauge steel. They help align your body and bring extra support and durability to the mattress.
  6. Edge Support Perimeter. A high-density foam support core reduces sagging and sinking at the edges of the mattress. If you sit or sleep near the edges of the bed, you won’t get the sinking feeling you usually find in foam mattresses.
  7. Hand-Tufted Side Perimeter.  Every side of the mattress is covered by a poly-knit quilt material, which is hand-tufted to keep the mattress sealed together. It’s a beautiful finish to the mattress.

Firmness

7 on Firmness Scale

The Noa Mattress is medium firm. The pillow top section of this mattress provides comforting pressure relief, while the coils from below provide strong, firm support. This mattress is a bit firmer than some of the other bed-in-a-box mattresses on the Canadian market. The firm feel makes it ideal for back sleepers and side sleepers

The Noa mattress is also great for stomach sleepers. The pillow-top section provides the cushion stomach sleepers need, while firm support from the coil layer provides support and balance throughout.  Heavier sleepers will also find this mattress better suited for their body type.

Motion Isolation

Is your partner often restless? Do you find yourself waking up when they turn over or get out of bed? If your mattress transfers motion, you’ll feel a lot of motion from the other side of the mattress. Foam mattresses and hybrid mattresses are better at isolating motion, preventing it from transferring to the other side of the bed.

The Noa Mattress uses two different layers to facilitate motion isolation. First, the adaptive transition foam helps eliminate motion as it happens. This layer localizes any motion on the bed, preventing it from rippling out and disturbing other sleepers. Second, the individually pocketed coils compress individually, so motion cannot transfer across them as it might with innerspring support layers.

The result is a mattress that has great motion isolation. You might still feel some of the larger motions from the other side of the bed, but you will be disturbed less often.

Pressure Relief

Noa Mattress Pressure Relief

Pressure points can form anywhere your body touches the mattress. If you sleep in the same position all night long, you may form uncomfortable or painful pressure points that make it difficult to stay asleep throughout the night. That’s why most mattress companies use materials that help relieve pressure in some way, reducing pressure points throughout the surface of the mattress.

This mattress uses three layers to reduce and eliminate pressure points. First, the pillow-top section provides a cloud-like surface for immediate comfort. The latex and gel foam layers below both cradle your body, working to provide support where you need it and cushion the areas with increased impact. These layers work together to provide a more comfortable sleeping experience, keeping you elevated out of the coil layer and asleep all night long.

Temperature Control

If you often wake up too hot and sweaty during the night, you aren’t alone. Many Canadians deal with excess heat as they sleep, meaning they wake up more often throughout the night. Your mattress might be to blame. Memory foam tends to retain heat, making it difficult to stay cool throughout the night. Thankfully, most companies that make memory foam mattresses use cooling features to reduce these effects.

Noa is one of them. This mattress is already cooler than an all-foam mattress because of the pocket coils in the support core. Coils help promote airflow, circulating cooler air through the core of the mattress and reducing temperature overall. This mattress also uses multiple cooling foam layers, including a breathable Tencel pillow top that wicks away heat and moisture. Below is a layer of open-cell latex foam, which works to trap heat. Latex doesn’t retain heat quite as memory foam does, so it’s already cooler. Finally, a layer of cooling gel foam eliminates leftover heat and leaves you cool and comfortable.

The Noa mattress also features a unique water-based adhesive for the foam layers. This adhesive stops most heat transfer throughout the layers of the mattress, helping to disperse any higher temperatures that may filter down through the mattress. Together, these features help eliminate overheating during the night.

Edge Support

Noa Mattress Edge Support

Most bed in a box mattresses (particularly all-foam mattresses) have some issues with supporting the edges. While most mattresses provide great support at the centre of the mattress, few carry this support through to the edges of the mattress. This can mean a sinking, sagging, or slipping feeling as you sit on the edge of the mattress in the morning. If you sleep near the edge or like to sit in the morning before starting your day, you need a mattress with better edge support.

Thankfully, the Noa mattress delivers. The edges are well-supported with an edge support perimeter around the coil layer. The high-density foam here prevents sinking at the edges of the mattress, so you’ll feel just as comfortable there as you do throughout the rest of the mattress.

Ease of Movement

Feeling ‘stuck’ in the mattress is a common feeling when it comes to memory foam mattresses. Becuase of the way that memory foam works, it sinks where it encounters heat. Your body heat causes it to cradle you, which works in your favour most of the time. However, all-foam mattresses usually have a ‘quicksand’ feeling, which makes it difficult to move around. As some sleepers move around a lot at night, this is less than ideal.

Thankfully, the Noa mattress features great ease of movement. The pocket springs are extremely responsive in the core of the mattress, while a layer of responsive natural latex at the top of the mattress adds additional bounce. Together, these layers provide great ease of movement. Combination sleepers and those who move around often will find that this mattress works great for them.

Shipping

The Noa mattresses ships free to most areas in Canada. If the Noa mattress is in stock when you order, you can expect your mattress to be shipped within 2 business days. You should receive your mattress within 2 to 5 business days after shipping. Deliveries within the greater Toronto area use an in-home delivery service, which you must be present to receive.

Orders placed to addresses outside this area may still use an in-home delivery service, but may also use a national courier. You’ll get the details of your shipment (including the carrier) when your order ships.

You must unbox your order within 3 days of receipt to ensure that there are no damages or defects. If you find that your mattress is damaged or defective due to shipping issues, you can email Noa support within these first three days to receive a replacement at no cost.

Sleep Trial and Returns

Since you can’t try the Noa mattress at any brick-and-mortar store, a sleep trial is important. With the Noa mattress, you’ll have 120 nights after purchase to determine if the mattress is right for you. If you determine during this time that the mattress doesn’t fit your sleep preferences or lifestyle, you can email Noa support to initiate a return.

Noa requires that you wait at least 30 days after receiving your mattress to begin the return process. This is because it takes at least 30 days for your body to adjust to a new mattress, especially if it is firmer than what you’re used to.

The return process is free and simple. Noa will arrange for a free return pick-up with a local courier. Used mattresses in sanitary condition are donated to local charities or eco-conscious recycling centers. Note that unsanitary or soiled mattresses will not be accepted, so we recommend using a mattress protector during your sleep trial.

After your mattress is picked up and confirmed with the courier, Noa will issue your refund. It can take up to 14 business days to receive a full refund to the original form of payment used to purchase the mattress.

Warranty

The Noa mattress falls under Noa’s 15-year limited mattress warranty. This warranty starts the day you receive your mattress. This warranty covers very specific damages and circumstances, including:

  • Body indents greater than 1″. These indents must be from manufacturing flaws, not from normal wear and tear. If your mattress was not supported by a proper frame, you cannot claim excessive indents under your warranty.
  • Physical, material, or structural flaws that cause splitting or cracking in the mattress foam. If splitting or cracking occurs during normal use, it is covered under the warranty.

There are several damages that the warranty explicitly does not cover, including the following.

  • Stains, burns, tears, liquid damage, and other damage resulting from improper use
  • Damage associated with using a foundation that is not compatible with the mattress
  • Normal softening of the foams over time
  • Comfort preferences
  • Damage resulting from removing, washing, or drying the mattress cover

If the damage to your mattress falls under the warranty, you can email Noa’s support team to begin a warranty claim. You must provide detailed photos or a short video cataloguing the defects that fall under the warranty.

When your claim is accepted, Noa will arrange for a courier to retrieve the mattress. A fee may be required for return shipping. Noa will repair or replace the mattress at their discretion. The new or repaired product will not renew or extend the existing warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Noa mattress can be used on most foundations. You can use it with a slatted, platform, or box spring. You can also use it directly on the floor, but you shouldn’t keep it on the floor for long. It’s designed to work with your preferences, but leaving the mattress on the floor for long periods can lead to damage.

No, you cannot remove the cover on the Noa mattress for washing. You can spot-clean it using a mild detergent, but we recommend using a mattress protector (particularly during your sleep trial). Keeping your mattress sanitary and clean is also a good idea to keep your warranty intact.

Once you receive your Noa mattress, you should take it out of the box as soon as possible. The mattress needs time to expand to its optimal firmness and comfort levels, so Noa recommends waiting up to 3 days before sleeping on your Noa mattress. After this time, the Noa mattress will be ready to go.

The layers of foam used within the Noa mattress carry various certifications. All foams are REACH certified, which is the EU equivalent to CertiPUR-US certification. They contain no harmful chemicals via these certifications.

The Noa sleep trial offers 120 nights to determine if the mattress is right for you. If the mattress doesn’t work for you, you can return it for a refund. You need to try it for at least 30 nights before Noa will consider a return, though.

The Noa mattress, along with all over Noa mattresses, come with a 15-year limited mattress warranty. This covers deep body indents, manufacturing flaws, and physical flaws caused by faulty materials. If your warranty claim is accepted, you might have to pay for return shipping to send your mattress back to Noa.
